The Servant Leader As A Contrivant Leader In The Catholic Church

I am always wary of decisions made hastily. I am always wary of the first decision, that is, the first thing that comes to my mind if I have to make a decision. This is usually the wrong thing. I have to wait and assess, looking deep into myself, taking the necessary time. (Pope Francis) When I was asked to identify one person as a leader, I looked for several traits that would inspire trust, followership, have moral and ethical values, maintaining standards of excellence, communication, empowerment, transparency, and sustaining personal and collective pride.1 I realized each trait is my own collective pride to inspire and influence individuals to become the next servant leader. One such servant leader is Pope Francis and is one such man that inspired 1.1 billion to follow, to lead, and to become the collective pride for the Catholic Church. When reviewing Pope Francis’s servant leadership, we will discuss each leadership pillars of character values of trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship.2 With any servant leader, The servant-leader is servant first. It begins with the natural feeling that one wants to serve. Then conscious choice brings one to aspire to lead.3 One must first learn to serve, allowing growth to become the next leader for others to serve in ones stay.
To serve in ones stay the first pillar of trustworthiness is the capitol “T” for any true leader. As a transformational leader, Pope Francis demonstrates both
