Critical thinking is being able to evaluate an issue or situation to form a judgment. Having the ability to think clearly and rationally, being able to have an argument and understand the main concept and question any doubts you have and making your own conclusion. Being a good critical thinker can help you in a lot of ways professionally and personally. Employers often want to see someone that can think rationally and that is able to make their business grow and develop they want someone that will take initiative in crucial situations. In our personal lives, it is important so we learn how to distinguish the main facts about an argument and learn to analyze the problem and make a conclusion of what needs to be done to help solve and prevent any future problems. According to Linda Elder and Richard Paul, there are six stages of a critical thinker the unreflective thinker, the challenged thinker, the beginning thinker, the advanced thinker, and finally the accomplished thinker which is where we would all want to be in. (The Critical Thinking Community , 2010) Stage one the unreflective thinker is simply someone that is unaware of what role thinking is playing in their lives. I think we are all born as an unreflective thinker and some people don’t know the useful conception of what thinking really is and they don’t develop better-thinking skills and end up dying the same way. In my own point of view of what I think critical thinking means is a guide to make a logical decision based on a number of variables such as factual evidence and credible resources that can create valid statements behind the action of thought process including being open-mindedness and demonstrating the differences of valid evidence and assuming to make and communicate their point of view to be understood by the others in a conversation.

The unreflective thinker is unable to asses their thinking skills while in the second stage of challenged thinkers, they are becoming aware and figuring out problems. The beginning thinker is similar to concrete thinking, which contains no depth, it regards to the facts and thinking in the periphery. At the fourth stage, the practicing thinker is developing the knowledge for systematic practice, while the advanced thinker now has good habits and can actively analyze information. Lastly, the accomplished thinker can access their intuitiveness and take a position on things in everyday life(Edler, Paul).

To us, critical thinking is a very important aspect of life and something we can all improve on. It allows us to think outside the box and put ourselves in others shoes and really look at things differently.
