The Structure Of The Unity 3d Game Engine Essay

When initially taking on this assignment, I defaulted to use a program that was similar in nature to some of my earliest experiences in 3D animation in high school. The structure of the Unity 3D game engine is very similar to a 3D animation program called 3D Studio Max that was relatively popular with game designers as well as technology classes in secondary schools. However, I still remember how much of a trial it was to really create a quality product in a small amount of time unless I extensively read and watched tutorial information. I took a little time to create a couple of models through Unity and made them move little by little, yet I knew I did not have the stamina or patience to relearning a language I had some knowledge about over fifteen years ago. So I dismissed the use of Unity and decided to use a game engine that was new, seemed user friendly, and was more focused on the development of a wide scope of gaming platforms. This even included an option to develop games in “retro” 8-bit and 16-bit styles; the aesthetics of gaming I grew up on and are slowing showing up in game developments today. For this review, I chose to use the game engine Stencyl in hopes to check out its potential to make an instructional music education video game/application in vintage style.
