The Study of the Starship Enterprise The USS Enterprise is the central starship that was made in year 2245 and was in service for 40 years till year 2285. It was the home for the Star Trek team with the ability to travel faster than light in its magical ways in the fictional Star Trek media franchise. This imaginary icon reifies the myth of the American beliefs in exploration and individual freedom as the ship expresses the notion of being daring with the mission to “explore strange new worlds; to seek out new life and new civilizations; to boldly go where no man has gone before"(William "Bill" Shatner). This icon significance is based off the fact that it states the importance of being bold and utilizing your Individual Freedom as it strengthens
Each symbol has a greater meaning, a euphoric of prejudice but also have something to do with courage within itself.
Walt Disney once said,”We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we're curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.” Attempting to accomplish something unfamiliar isn’t a simple responsibility. It requires a lot of courage, perseverance, and personal motivation. William Bradford’s Journal about the expedition to the new land, “Of Plymouth Plantation” and the excerpt from Tom Wolfe’s book about orbiting around Earth for the first time, “The Right Stuff” both incorporate the theme of adventure and question the boundaries of convenience, but the obstacles faced by the pilgrims were more arduous than those faced by John Glenn.
They say that everything comes with a price. Even one’s most visible dream has its unthinkable consequences. Thrown into foreign environments and are faced with situations they’ve never faced before are the costs of curiosity. Exploring the two books The Odyssey of Homer by Allen Mandelbaum, and 2001: Space Odyssey by Arthur C. Clarke, the hidden meanings of adventure unveils itself.
My research led me to NASA.gov where they stated, “Humans are driven to explore the unknown, discover new worlds, push the boundaries of our scientific and technical limits, and then push further.” I thought that this was such a great piece
Logos is an appeal to logic. President Obama used this in his speech. He mentioned, “And we’re going to have to come together and take meaningful action to prevent more tragedies like this, regardless of the politics.” He was using
My logo represents Community Spirit by the sun because the arrow at the top emphasises that the event’s purpose in is aiming high and is reaching for the star – which is an expression - in order to bring about change with the help of the community. I chose the colours yellow and light blue because it is eye-catching and memorable when seen in various places; such as my e-newsletter. It also reflects the theme of the venue: positivity and because it is bright, it brings attention to the positivity regarding the determination of the event to bring about change by raising awareness of the charities in London such as Tiko Foundation, The Drapers’ Charitable Fund, The National Deaf Children’s Society, Mind and Sense. In the midst of grand discovery and development, space agencies should not lose sight of their ambitions, their intentions of furthering the human race. Humans have always looked into the night sky and pondered the origins of what they witness beyond the stratosphere. Due to advances in electronics, science, and other technologies bringing about the creation of rockets, it quickly became viable to send machines and animals and then people beyond the barrier of Earth 's atmosphere into outer space. From pilots to scientists, writers and artists, space exploration had already intrigued the minds of numerous individuals well before technology made these feats possible. The bastion that space travel has always had on the imagination clearly explains why experienced astronauts and dilettantes alike consent at their great peril. In the words of Tom Wolfe in The Right Stuff (1979), to sit “on top of an enormous Roman candle, such as a Redstone, Atlas, Titan or Saturn rocket, and wait for someone to light the fuse.” It also possibly explains why space exploration has been a frequent and persistent theme in literature and art. Human spaceflight is worth the risks and the cost because it expands human experience, establishes international prestige, and creates opportunities for the future.
The 2009 film reproduction of the infamous Star Trek series brings an older storyline to a younger audience. Both newer and older fans alike can appreciate the stunning effects and cgi painstakingly perfected in the film, but does the science suffer because of it?
My logo reflects the idea of me opening up and becoming more confident throughout these six years at MELS. I wanted to convey the idea that my experience at MELS has influenced me because it allowed me to take risks and experience new things. In my elementary school, I was used to being surrounded by the same race because of the area that I lived in. When I came to MELS, I was exposed to diversity. Therefore, I was put into a new environment where I was forced to interact with others who seemed foreign to me. Not only did I open up by talking to new people, I also participated in activities and initiatives that required me to step out of my comfort zone. When I first came to MELS, I was completely shy and I did not know how to open up. Over
The phenomenon that is Star Trek began on September 8, 1966 on NBC. From that night on, America would forever be different. At a point in time where the cowboys were falling from the small screen and science fiction was on the rise. However, there has and never been and will never another be a program as well known as Star Trek. The first time the show aired, it only saw 3 years before NBC canceled the show, and almost 20 years went past before it re-aired in its new form. The cult following that kept the show alive still drives its success today.
This use of Logos in Martin Luther's Speech shows the folks a truth of what has not truly took impact to each African yankee person, or each Negroid within the us.
This was with the help of cameras, infrared and ultraviolet sensors and other equipment on board, with which a large number of discoveries were made. They were able to out live their planned lifetime of five years and go further out into the solar system, thus discovering more on the planets Uranus and Neptune. Voyager 1 reached Jupiter on March the 5th, 1979, and Saturn on November the 12th, 1980. Voyager 2 reached Jupiter on July the 9th, 1979, and Saturn on August the 25th,
Trekkie. But I am what You would call a big fan of star trek TV shows and movies. My favorite Star Trek episode is devil in the dark. Also, I have seen practically all episodes of Star Trek next Generation and the movies connected to that. Which came after the show. My favorite one was Star Trek: Insurrection. I have the same history that I have with Next Generation with the other three TV shows they have done after Star Trek. Which are Star Trek Voyager, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: Enterprise. I saw a special about the 50 years of Star Trek on History Channel that mentions how groundbreaking the original Star Trek was. (Wikipedia)
The front-side design is a Longacre version of the Great Seal of the United States. His design concentrates on the shield, or crest, as a cautious weapon, meaning quality and self-assurance through unity. The upper parts of the shield symbolize Congress, while the 13 vertical stripes, symbolize the states; consequently the whole crest symbolizes the quality of the government through the unity of the states. The crossed arrows symbolizes nonaggression, also represents preparation against assault. The tree limbs, taken from Greek custom, symbolize victory. In heraldic engraving, vertical lines symbolizes red, clear regions white and horizontal lines blue, in this way the shield is colored red, white and blue and is intended to represent the American
The Voyager missions I and II were separate unmanned missions ran by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) in 1977. The Mariner Jupiter/Saturn was the original name of the mission when the idea was first proposed on July 1, 1972. From the original name, the Voyager missions were at first missions to visit the planets of Jupiter and Saturn. In the years to come, the mission changed its name to Voyager. NASA had great plans for Voyager. They viewed it as an exploration to explore where nothing from Earth has ever flown before.
