Dweck research is good because it could change somebody life if they determine what type of mindset they have.
Why having a growth mindset is good for someone. This helps people thrive on challenges. If people develop a growth mindset it could help them embrace their challenges. “Mindsets are an important part of your personality, but you can change them.”(Dweck 46) Carol Dweck author of Mindset: The New Psychology of Success says this because mindsets aren’t permanent and you are able to change your mindset about anything. How you approach things in life and what mindset you use toward it can affect the outcome of what occurs. How you take the results of how you did can affect the future of how you go about doing things. One of the reoccurring themes of the growth mindset is trying a new approach at a goal or a situation that you don’t know how to go about.
From my perspective, the mind always seemed like a complicated and intricate puzzle. It was a puzzle that I had no desire to evaluate or even begin to learn more about. It was something that I had just accepted because I believed it was above my understanding and much too complex. However, I never thought to look at just one small piece of the puzzle. This is important because it’s hard to really see a lot of growth within a time period. In the article, Carol also backs this up with evidence from a controlled experiment. The experiment was focused on the minds of seventh graders and talking to them in a certain way that influenced their mindsets. The seventh graders were split up into two groups and were to work on an eight-session workshop, however, the control group was taught about what a growth mindset is and how it can be applied into their school life. This factor leads to the control group having improved at the end of the semester. This experiment showed that just by knowing about what a growth mindset is and how it could be applied in life, people are more likely to grow more rapidly than people whose minds are fixed on having a limit to their knowledge or skills. This is important because the sooner that kids know how to make their brain think that there are endless possibilities to who they can be or what they can do, the more they are likely to excel in anything that they attempt, not only in school but in their own personal life. This will allow a person with a fixed mindset to be able to change their way of thinking and start to see more about what they can accomplish with their life.
According to Judy Willis, “When you are experiencing highly negative emotions or severe stress, incoming information is routed to a different part of your brain”. When the high-level thinking happens, the information routed is to the reactive lower brain. When that happens, the memory is affected, all active learning stops. A fourth way is recognized and valuing incremental progress boosts a person’s motivation and enables him or her to deal effectively with setbacks. According to Dweck, “people with growth mindsets, believe their abilities can be developed though dedication and hard work- brains and talent are just the starting point. This view creates a love of learning and a resilience that is essential for great accomplishment. Virtually all great people have these qualities.” With a growth mindset, people realized by having a failure in the past don’t mean they will in the future.
Carol S.Dweck an American professor in Psychology is well known for the mindset psychology trait, in (2006) she wrote the book “Mindsets”. The book distinguishes that Mindset has to be included no matter what. Dweck observes by first empowering the thought of mindset, then paints the significance of growth and fixed mindset in your everyday life by your actions like sports academic and non academic, she finally proves that growth mindset gives you that mentality to work harder or better and gives you that motivation to do a task giving to hand comparing to growth mindset fixed is completely opposite people with fixed mindset just believe talent is the answer and they think that people are born with natural abilities and certain jobs are for certain people. Dweck’s purpose was to explain to an older or academic audience that Mindsets is huge and can change the way we act or view things in a certain situation.
The overall theme of the sources we studied was about growth mindset.The most important thing about growth mindset is that intelligence can be developed. Also, the brain can grow by hard working and practicing. In “You Can Grow your Intelligence,” the author maintains that contrary to the belief that a person is born either smart, average, or dumb, instead the brain is more like a muscle, it changes and get stronger when you use it. Lastly, Carol Dweck, in a Ted Talk titled “ The Power Of Believing That You Can improve,” narrates how she researches about the growth mindset and the fixed mindset, and the benefit of having a growth mindset. Also, in her video she gave many good advice of how you can change a person that have fixed mindset to a growth mindset.
Growth mindset is the cone to an ice cream. It is the foundation of what I think a successful person is. Without it one couldn’t use the characteristics mentioned above in more ways than one. Someone with a growth mindset believe that their most basic abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work, brains and talent are just the starting point.
Traits, they can be very important in a child’s life. Some traits define who we are and who we will become. Most of the people who have the ability to develop these traits into a road of success do not know they have the power to do so. These traits develop a mindset; a mindset that helps a child’s brain to develop into not only wanting to but actually accomplishing striving success. The fixed mindset, while it has played a significant role in my life, does not help me cope well with failure. Near the end of chapter one, after the bad grade and parking ticket scenario, it is noted that, “You don’t have to have one mindset or the other to be upset . . . Yet those people with the growth mindset were not labeling themselves and throwing up their hands” (Dweck 9). With this in mind, it is rather clear that the growth mindset tends to produce notably more positive reactions in comparison to the fixed mindset. The positivity is something that I want more of in my life.
However the basic mindset is developed in our childhood, based on our parents as role-modells, and the interactions with others on the playground or in the elementary school, most of us can evolve, improve on our mindset, not only through the learnings and experiences in the world but based on their conscious decisions towards their personal goals.

There are many ways a growth mindset can affect an individual. Commonly growth mindsets have a more positive effect on your life. The mindset you attain, growth or fixed, is dependent on the views you adopt from a young age. There are much more pros than cons for a growth-minded person compared to a fixed minded person. One of the ways growth mindset is more beneficial than a fixed mindset is that intelligence is developed over time. A growth mindset is associated with the desire to learn and the ability to continue despite an obstacle, whereas fixed mindset is associated with the desire to appear smart and will give up easier when faced with an obstacle. A few more differences between the two are growth mindset focuses on learning from criticism and is inspired by others' success, while fixed mindset ignores useful feedback and is threatened by others' success.
Debbie Millman, a motivational speaker on the topic of mindset, stated in one of her speeches: “If you imagine less, less is what you undoubtedly deserve. Do you have love? And don’t stop until you get what you love. Work as hard as you can. Imagine immensities.” The words of Millman are a summary of what I’m saying about the effect of our beliefs, outlook, and attitude on our conduct and on our mindset.
