Consider how the writing process you read about in this class differs from the process you have used in the past. What specifically have you done in the past compared to what you read about this week?
.
The process that I have read about in this class differs a lot from the process I have used in the past in many different ways. I n the past when I was given a writing assignment if research was needed I just found the basic information I needed and write the paper. After the readings this week I have learned that there are few main questions and things you should always ask yourself before beginning your writing process. The first thing I learned was to think about your readers, asking yourself what or how much they need to know

A “fresh eye” is very important when reading a paper. It is during the editing phase that I will also reread the paper a few times to ensure that it flow smoothly from one thought to another. I will also give my paper to other people (friend/coworker) to read so that I can get their valued input. While all of this may seem quite tedious, it will help me write a great paper.
2. Which step in the writing process is the most difficult for you to complete? Why is it difficult?
In the writing process the step that I think would be the most difficult for me to complete would be drafting. Drafting is researching, crafting a thesis statement, outlining, and documenting sources. In this phase of the paper majority of the work is done. In researching your paper you have to find information on your topic, keep track of any paraphrases, summaries, and quotations along with their sources. Crafting your thesis statement, this is one sentence that states your opinion on the subject and must be supported by your research. The thesis statement alone takes a lot of work because it needs to be broad enough to include all the supporting points of your paper. In the outlining phase you will be using all the information you have retrieved and form your paper. Documenting your sources is also very important in this stage because you need to make sure if you are using
The chapter also goes into explaining the writing process itself in greater detail. Writers are encouraged to first make sure they fully understand their assignment, before then moving onto throwing around ideas (such as by brainstorming, clustering, ect), developing a thesis statement, and scheduling
Research types of writings at college helped me strengthen my writing skills because as I started to research on a topic, not only I learned more in depth, but also learned how to draw further connections outside of the course(class). I want to improve my writings in making correct connections and organizing ideas. Sometimes, I misunderstand the readings and end up making the wrong connections. In fact, my ideas are all over the place whenever I try to make connections, which does not clearly show that I have understood the assignment. These mistakes often led to downside of my grades. The most useful advice I received that helped me improve my writing is that “the word ‘writing’ actually means to put things together, so don’t be afraid of express your opinions in your writing your opinion.” This encourage me not to be afraid of writing and expressing my opinions.
Within the past eight weeks, I have realized my strengths and weaknesses within the writing process. I have realized that I do not utilize the first step within the writing process of prewriting. However, for the drafting, revising, and polishing steps of the writing process, I am very familiar and use additional resources to strengthen the writing assignment. I create multiple drafts, which includes revising and polishing in each step. Therefore, I use all three of these steps in multiple drafts as I reach the final product for
When you hear the word “process,” what comes to mind? I immediately envision an assembly line. On the assembly line are people following the same steps over and over again to produce a final product. When writing, we do the same thing; however, we do it in a less stringent manner. We start with research and then follow the steps of the assembly line until we produce a final product, a written paper. Throughout this examination, I will discuss three of many steps in my research process for last weeks written assignment.
1.What prewriting assignment(s) did you choose for this? Why? How well did they work for you?
During my college career, the hardest thing for for me to do was just start something. A paper, or a report. Really anything that inclosed writing. Don't get me wrong, I would have all the research done and the paper outlined weeks before. But that step of actually writing someone in a word document, That's what I just couldn't bring myself to do.
My day one writing process wasn't much of an effective process, it was mainly just meeting page requirements by adding a ton of filler information. this was not a good process because it takes away from the purpose of the paper and makes it a lot more difficult to capture the readers attention. taking this six week course has improved my writing process.
When it comes to the techniques we were given in this assignment, we were similar in one and different in the other. We both used brainstorming to come up with ideas to write about. You also used journaling, something that I did not, instead I used free writing. I have never been somebody to write as I read. I can see where this could be useful to keep a track of your ideas. I used free writing to see how far I could take some of my ideas I came up with. This helped me eliminate some that
The easiest part of the research paper process was not procrastinating. I would usually write two paragraphs of information each day. During the my free time I would go back and revise any grammatical mistakes.
My experience in the writing process has been extremely humbling. My mother is a teacher, so as soon as I could speak, I was taught how to write. All throughout elementary, middle, and the first few years of high school, I excelled in English. This skill of mine was put to the test, and for the first time, challenged and criticized in AP English Language. I quickly learned that I couldn’t always follow the three-chunk, five-paragraph essay format and that restatement of the author’s ideas was not enough. English soon became difficult when I realized I actually needed to think critically. My confidence in my writing dropped dramatically. However in my time so far in AP Literature, I’ve come to realize that I am a talented writer, and that
The hardest part of writing would have to be turning an idea into an actual story. I’m use to writing very little things like descriptions and summaries, or short little drabbles. When I try to write something long and descriptive, I usually give up, it’s so much easier for me to be brief. Another thing I consider difficult would be grammar. I have a tendency to type just like I talk, so I might say ‘like’ a lot, or not use full sentences. I apologize in advance for whatever grammatical errors there are in this paper, my bad.
Furthermore, always when you are writing a paper is to put as much in your own words as possible and try not to paraphrase that much and cite as much as possible. In addition, make sure that the citing matches your references. You then have to proofread your draft paper and to see that it is in proper format with a good introduction and conclusion then you can start writing your final paper. However, proofreading is important to go back and revise your paper (owl.english.purdue.edu). I think the easiest part of conducting a research paper is about what topic that interests me to write. The things I struggle with most are how to start out writing and putting it all together on paper. Choosing a good topic and keep from having writer’s block when you start writing. Also check to my grammar, wordiness or making sure it makes sense. However, when it has been brought to my attention that I am making mistakes and need help I contact a tutor. Because writing research papers are harder for me to understand and to put it all together to make any sense. The most important thing for me is looking forward in the remainder of my schooling is to make sure I write in my forums and my assignments and check my spelling, grammar, citing, and make sure, when I am doing research to pick a scholarly peer review site or a reliable website. Moreover, to make
Previously as a writer, I would read a prompt and immediately begin writing a rough draft without specific direction or knowledge about the subject. The journal assignments for this class have been the most beneficial thing for my improvement as a writer. Pre-writing, formulating ideas, and developing research has helped me create a paper that will flow logically which creates clarity for the reader. “The issue between the two viewpoints is whether the problems
The next step in the writing process is the reading. I can tell you something; I never liked to read, but since I started university I have learned to like it. Reading makes us better speakers, where readers nor audience would understand what the writer is writing about. . This is the most amazing gift of communication, and the easy one.
Before taking this class, my writing style was pretty simple. I would generally just sit down, maybe take a few notes, and write my paper all at once. With these topics, it was much harder to do this, since I was to go into much deeper detail. I would brainstorm ideas and topics to write about beforehand, and then also while writing. I would repeat this process over and over until I got most or all of my ideas out and onto the paper. In between, I would read and research the topic to gain more knowledge on what I was actually writing about. The critical reading I would do throughout
