Final Assessment Throughout the semester I’ve learned techniques and strategies to enhance my credibility as a writer. The syllabus for the class contained a list of six course competencies that the student was intended to learn to improve their writing. The preparation and organization taught in this course has helped me reach the goals of these six competencies. By creating an organized and efficient argument before I begin writing helps me achieve the goals deemed necessary in the syllabus. The course has taught me that for a paper to be successful you must make a strong argument with information built to back it. Previously as a writer, I would read a prompt and immediately begin writing a rough draft without specific direction or knowledge about the subject. The journal assignments for this class have been the most beneficial thing for my improvement as a writer. Pre-writing, formulating ideas, and developing research has helped me create a paper that will flow logically which creates clarity for the reader. “The issue between the two viewpoints is whether the problems …show more content…
After I became organized I began pre writing papers and paid more attention to detail which lead to a deeper understanding. Before this course, I would skim through reading assignments and gather the general idea of the message but wouldn’t truly understand the deeper meaning of the story. “The emotions felt when reading about the cold justification for murdering babies causes the reader to disagree with Swift’s ‘logic’, and helps convince them of Swift’s actual belief that a better life must be produced for the children” (Hagan 3). When I pay closer attention to detail, I’m able to analyze the author’s purpose of the content. Paying attention to detail helps me connect the author's purpose to my assignments which increases the quality and content in my
Writing this class is really a challenge for me.I never thought I would spend so much time writing. This is something I've never had before. However, I will turn the impossible into a possibility in this semester, and I believe I can do it.Because there is a good saying that you don't try to see how you know you can't do it.It is true that I will complete my challenge in this semester and keep moving towards my goal.In the future, my goal is to be a good salesman, and this skill is absolutely indispensable. To convince a person, you have to present your own points of interest and strong empirical evidence that you are right.Writing this class is the best way to strengthen this skill.I want to talk about how I grew up in writing and how much skill I learned.I'm going to tell you what I have encountered in writing and what challenges I have and how I overcame him. There are three challenges that I find difficult. At the beginning, the Internet quotes a strong and powerful argument to support my article with the use of grammar and paragraph architecture.
As an international student, I state that I did not have enough knowledge of how the representation of an academic writing should be in my first semester. Indeed, I did not realize that there were elements for an effective and strong persuasive argument paper. In summer 2014, I took ENG 507 with Dr. Steve Wilhoit. This course gave me the right beginning to understand the writing progress. From this course, I started diving in the English Writing to accomplish a better performance.
Demonstrated ability to support success for all students, with a strong emphasis on promoting student responsibility, engagement and wellbeing.
This topic of the course has helped me to differentiate between what is a policy and what a procedure is and increased my knowledge of the huge amount of different types of policies and procedures that a school must have in place in order to operate effectively. Setting policies is one of the primary means that governing bodies can use in order to perform their duty for setting the direction they want the school to take. Governing bodies are required by law to set certain policies whilst there are others that are just recommended as good practice for all settings. Policies and procedures provide a structure and direction for school life in each and every institution.
I have had a very explorative experience in somatic’s class this semester. Through this paper I hope to expand on my experience towards internal awareness. One which I presume, I was initially very cautious of. Although I cannot say that I was simply hesitant, I admit now that I was avoidant of certain aspects, 100% certain of this fact in retrospect. One of which was closing my eyes. Fully accrediting this distaste to my strong fear aversion. Being told to relax and close my eyes was unsettling for the first few times the class was asked to let go. I did not like the idea that I was unable to see what was going on around me. I had completed hyposis mediations before this class, but I was always in the comfort confine of my room. Before I could close my eyes in class, I had to kind of glance around. In order to be convinced closing my eyes was a sure thing, I needed to see others doing it before me. With multiple activities this seemed to be the case.
During A levels I did not study any sort of computing subject but I did at GCSE level. The GCSE qualification allowed me to gain an insight on how to create different banners, posters, websites using CS6 DreamWorks, Fireworks and also the use of Photoshop. in addition to this work that was done in school, I have done some research allowing me to understand that there are different codes/languages within the computing industry such as the very basic Python going to a complex and commonly used coding language Java/JavaScript. In addition to this, in my free time I result in looking at different forums on the internet based on the different coding languages, and in some cases read books in order to try and expand my knowledge on this
Primarily, I wish that I had been more grounded before beginning my presentation. While I was prepared with
This year, I am a part of the AMS First Year Intern Council. Having enjoyed my time as an Intern for the Queen’s Journal as well as learning more about the AMS and its services, I am very interested to continue my involvement with the AMS. Thus, when this year’s Generation’s Committee Chair talked about her position at one of the AMS First Year Intern meetings, I became very interested to learn more about this program. Due to my past involvement as well as my passion to serve seniors, I strongly connected with this committee’s aim of incorporating Kingston’s seniors into the Queen’s community as well supporting them through outreach programs.
1. Reflect and discuss how the content in Module 1 prepared you to demonstrate mastery on the assignment in Module 1. There were two parts for module one. The first part was to make a wiki and introduce ourselves to the other students in the course. We also had to comment on their introduction.
This semester at Forsyth Tech, I am taking Psychology 118 along with English 111. I am required to write in both classes, and English 111 has been more of a refresher course to me so that I can become a proficient writer in the future. Taking these classes together is given me the opportunity to project what I have learned, to apply it to other writing assignments, and papers in Psychology, if need be. I have two mandatory group essays in Psychology, but the majority of my assignments are entry journals. I was given directions in journal seven, to write an example of a time that I was subject to a persuasion technique, and how I responded to it. English class has been beneficial, and the handbook has been very convenient. I was able to reflect back to “Student’s Book of College English”, for in-work citations, to avoid plagiarism, as well as MLA format, even though it’s not mandatory in Psychology. Plus, I already have a good sense of detail and order in my writing, so the purpose and audience are clear. Nonetheless, my English teacher has guided me through this course and is giving effective tips that are helping me boost my confidence
My first essay is entitled A Significant Incident with a Child with Presumed Oppositional Defiance Disorder (ODD) Drawing Upon the Critical Reflection Techniques and Other Learning Theories and my second essay is titled In Failing to Answer a Pupil Question Relating to History Subject Knowledge, How Can I Ensure Sufficient Subject knowledge in Relation to the Teachers’ Standards, Pedagogy and Professionalism?
The HPL checking student understanding during and at the conclusion of the lesson was a bit more challenging than I had anticipated. To begin with, I know that I did not do the “check for understanding” pieces that I had incorporated into my lesson. Before reading the book, I was going to have students give me a thumbs up if they could describe to me what a problem was in a story and a thumbs down if they didn’t know how to describe what a problem in the story is. I still asked students to explain what a problem was, but I did not do the quick formative assessment that I just described.
My goal for Unit 1 is to improve my content knowledge by writing. Content knowledge is the strategies, tricks, and the types of style learned in writing. The main four categories are writing, reading, speaking, and language development. I want to build and try understand new styles of writing and learn to use it to add more variety to my writing. My personal experiences and inspirational quotes encouraged me for this goal.
This project enables me to find out more about myself, about things I could relate too. The learning styles project taught me that I am a kinesthetic learner, that I am a person of action and movement, and learns best that way. I notice that I process things through touch, not by seeing, or being talk too, or I’ll don’t get the information in. Sometimes I cannot stay in one spot for a long period, or I tend to fidget or go off task. I’ve also notice that I have a good memory of all the experience I’ve been through involving touch such as cooking recipes, going to daycare when I was three and how I loved to paint, etc. Over the years in high school, but I’ve been involved in cheerleading, band, choir, volunteering, dance, doing what I can to be involved.
I have had the privilege to tutor in an intensive math classroom this semester. I have learned a lot from this experience, and will be able to implement what I have learned in my own classroom one day. I have learned some of the challenges that teachers face and the rewards they experience, learned many important factors when working with children, and been influenced by this experience greatly.
