The world that we live in today have people who commit unforgivable crime by hurting others and making society feel unsafe. Individuals who perform serial crimes towards our society must face some kind of punishment, determine by the court justice and the people. Unfortunately, the capital punishment made by people and those with authority take justice on their own hands intensively. It is surprising how preventing others to commit the same crimes or worse have been taken so far. Everything is making that person feel unsafe and without hope of any kind. We must be considerate and realized that we make mistake, but we need to learn from it and have another chance to make things right. Prison it is a way to punish and give a second chance to a person even if it is for the rest of their life. We must never take a life for another life, because we will be becoming a criminal as well. The wrongful acts of punishment in this society is to create deterrence, torture, and self satisfaction; instead of just putting criminals in jail without deciding if they should stay alive. First of all, Criminals in the eyes of the people who got hurt must not have a second chance in their life, however the capital punishment point of view is to set an example. The capital punishment like to deterrence those unforgivable criminals by killing them, so other do not commit crimes. In this world criminals take that as a challenge to survive. We as human beings fear death but either way some day death
Keeping a prisoner in jail for life will be very expensive considering that it costs $80,000 a year; and the bad news is that the money comes from the taxpayer's pocket. Thousands of people will attack the death penalty. They will give emotional speeches about the one innocent man who might be executed. However, all of these people are forgetting one crucial element. They are forgetting the thousands of victims who die every year. This may sound awkward, but the death penalty saves lives. It saves lives because it stops those who murder from ever murdering again (Bryant). These opinions represent some of the strongest and most influential views that proponents hold. However, if our prison system could rehabilitate more effectively, perhaps those who murdered once, could change.
As far back as one can look into human civilization, justice for a murder victim has always been by taking the life of the killer. In today’s society capital punishment is needed to defend it from further harm, bring justice and/or vengeance to the victims of the loved ones, and encourage psychological deterrence. As of today, there are thirty-two states which offer the only just punishment for a crime without parallel and eighteen states having abolished the death penalty.
Capital punishment has been a hot topic for quite some time now. In earlier times it was merely a way to punish as well as an attempt to deter members of society from committing heinous crimes. In the last century we have actively monitored the effects of capital punishment, and this has revealed the truth. It is for these reasons capital punishment is not morally acceptable.
It has been reported that millions of crimes is committed in the United States of America which violates and harms the individual rights, properties, and freedoms that are not only guaranteed to American citizens of this country. It has been highlighted that justice is dealt with according to the crimes committed based on the findings and principles of our country, which derived from the Constitution of the United States. While it has been argued justice may not always be fair due to certain rights given to those who may be charged with crime sometimes an error is made. A simple mistake, a missing or broken link in the chain that represents the investigation and trial processes causes an innocent bystander to become caught up in an investigation. More importantly, in many cases can result in a wrongful conviction. This error can rise from many forms like a mistaken eyewitness identification, a false confession, misconduct of the governing authorities, improper forensic investigation, or including staff that neglect to make efforts or unskilled litigation by the defense attorneys. Those whom are affected endure years in prison, deal with lost wages, isolation from friends and family, scrutiny from potential employers, and isolation from their community.
Many criminals take the lives of or hurt many people around them. They are later released after doing time in prisons to go on the streets again where they will do the same things over again. "[W]e reserve the death penalty in the United States for the most heinous murders and the most brutal and conscienceless murderers. To sentence killers like those described above to less than death would fail to do justice because the penalty – presumably a long period in prison – would be grossly disproportionate to the heinousness of the crime. Prosecutors, jurors, and the loved ones of murder victims understand this essential point…” Death penalty does the justice right for seriously violent criminals instead of having them do time in prisons to be released.
As time has passed, prisons have improved because of advances in technology and staffing. Inmates with life-without-parole sentences can now serve their time in safer conditions. An introduction to a humane alternative to capital punishment has resulted in support for executions to continue to fall. The many people who are changing their beliefs are realizing that being locked in a cell for the rest of your life is an awful punishment. Some argue that it is a fate worse than death.
Capital punishment on a balance does more harm than good. Even in the case of someone who has done the evilest things, forgiveness should remain. Our society cannot overcome violence with another form of violence. With everything that has been going in our surrounding – shooting and act of terrorism, our goal is to build a culture of life and solidarity with one
The fact that the punishment is so cruel really makes the death penalty worthy of fear, a human’s most darkest emotion. The best method to prevent a person from doing crime is to show him the fear of consequences of his actions. “Like the fear of going into the “Hell” after death stops one from doing any immoral act, same way, fear of capital punishment that is, fear of losing life is the greatest fear for any human” (Singh). The fact that the death penalty still exists today really gives people fear of such a system. Even life imprisonment is less feared because in that case, at least the life is saved. But in the case of capital punishment, snatching away of the human life is the most terrifying consequence for any human being. Therefore this aspect of the death really allows people to think about their actions before committing to them. It gives people another perspective of their actions since they know that their own life may be in risk as well. Another positive aspect of the system can be seen from the fact that it guarantees that the criminal will not commit such a crime again. A criminal is like a rotten apple among the good ones, he is like a virus to the society, which can even infect others of the same disease. Like a doctor excises any body part to save life of a patient likewise, a criminal is cut out permanently from the
the strongest argument for capital punishment from Retentions saying “death penalty protects society from repeat criminals, those violent and dangerous offenders who cannot be reformed”. On other words, murderers or evils should repay their consequences, and many people who wanted to commit as serious crime will be change their evil thinking.
It is undoubtedly true that crimes exist in every society around the world. In order to deter crimes, government has been using different methods of punishment, ranging from life imprisonment to death penalty. However, there has been a controversial debate on whether life imprisonment without parole or capital punishment should be exercised as a form of punishment. Proponents of life imprisonment without parole claims that it costs less and can make criminals feel greater remorse. Thus, life imprisonment without the possibility of parole should be practiced for 3 dominant reasons.
The world can be a dark and cruel place to live… proof of this can be easily determined by watching the news, reading the newspaper, or watching today’s television shows and movies. Every day hundreds of horrendous crimes are committed; murder, kidnapping, child molestation, the list goes on and on. These crimes are sufficient proof that there is enough evil in this world. The death penalty has, and will be an extremely prominent controversial issue worldwide, yet I believe that it is important we remain advocates for the death penalty as it is a vital factor for keeping society under order. it is among the oldest criminal punishments, and has shown its effectiveness if it has stayed around this long. Capital punishment serves 4 general purposes: To punish crime, to prevent repetition of crime, to discourage future crimes, and save the taxpayers lifelong expenses for prison.
Capital punishment, also known as death penalty is a legal procedure in which a state executes a person for crimes he/she has committed. This punishment has been implemented by many states and used for barbaric crimes, especially murder. It is also used on crimes against the state such as treason, crimes against humanity and violent crimes. There are mixed reactions on capital punishment depending on one’s faith. In my view, I am not in favor of capital punishment as I strongly believe that death penalty is unacceptable and an inhumane practice for it denies one’s right to live. Death penalty does not deter crime, it is an act of punishment, it costs more than life imprisonment, and worst of all, risks executions of innocent people. In countries where the death penalty remains, those victims die at the hands of that state but more importantly they are left to die by their own home states (Conall 1).
Capital punishment has become an increasing controversial topic recently. I believe that capital punishment is unethical and it does not benefit society as a whole, causing more harm than good by forcefully killing another. It is also hypocritical because it condemns killing by killing. We murder people who murder people to show that murder is wrong. We as a society should not have the right to take someone’s life, without their consent, no matter what they have done. Instead of sentencing these possible felons to death, I believe that by giving them the option to face life without parole, we not only eliminate the risk of irreversible damage, but we let them face their consequences in a less barbaric way that is ethical and justifiable and does not damage the society as a whole. I also understand that forcing someone to live and die in prison could be considered more inhumane and cruel than the death penalty, as it could just be considered as prolonging their suffering. Instead of just completely removing the death penalty and replacing it with life imprisonment, I believe that Capital punishment could be made ethical and benefit society as a whole if it gave the possible convicts an option for choosing either the death penalty through lethal injection or life in prison without parole. It gives the convicts the option to choose how they would like to face their consequences and we as a society do not need to get unnecessary blood on our hands by killing someone against
I have read your views about “The Death Penalty” and I truly disagree with your point of views because the existence of The Death Penalty in any society raises one underlying question that we ask ourselves: have we established our justice systems out of a desire for rehabilitation, on out of a desire for retribution? I therefore strongly believe that the criminals should not deserve a second chance.
Capital punishment is beneficial to the community. It provides the society with a sense of security. The death penalty contains a positive influence on the future. A heavily debated topic is, “Does capital punishment deter people more than a life sentence to prison?” An explanation on why will be covered later. An issues many people have with capital punishment, is when it is just or not just. This is a topic many stray away from, because it is difficult to decide. Finding the right consequence for an action is difficult. While this paper is for the use of capital punishment, it is clearly not needed for every crime, or even every murder. Overusing capital punishment, such as using it for every murder, will negatively impact the country, and not using it has the same effect.
