When Katniss finally agreed to being the Mockingjay, she became the symbol of the rebellion, meaning all of the rebels looked up to her. Katniss acted as their leader, their reason to fight back against the Capitol. Hope played a huge part in Mockingjay, because Katniss would have most likely died if it wasn’t for Squad 451’s willpower and bravery to keep Katniss alive. Half of the districts would end up siding with the Capitol, or maybe stay out of the war, causing the Rebels to have lesser numbers. Finally, Katniss wouldn’t have agreed to being the Mockingjay if it wasn’t for Peeta and Prim. One of her main goals was to rescue Peeta from the Capitol, and if Katniss didn’t have Prim, she wouldn’t have anyone to really fight for in the war.
Given these symptoms (examples above) and the fact that they have lasted more than year can help us determine the Katniss Everdeen is suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. The criterion from DSM-5 on PTSD has also helped in determining the correct diagnosis for Katniss. The traumatic event that lead Katniss to develop PTSD was that she was forced to survive by killing foes and comrades alike. Too often she was placed in situations that were either to kill or be killed by other tributes. Situations like those escalated the risk of becoming another survivor of PTSD. As previously mentioned, the symptoms have lasted more than a year and therefore, has created significant distress on Katniss's emotional, cognitive, physical, and social
To Kill a Mockingbird is a famous novel written by Harper Lee that is known for its compelling characters and its irresistible plot line. These attributes make To Kill a Mockingbird a classic read by almost all students in the United States. Many think that the novel is relevant to this day due to its powerful messages and similarities of American Society. Others think that the book is outdated and has lost its meaning. Regardlessly, To Kill a Mockingbird is still relevant in the 21st century because its morals can still be implied in today's society, it displays intolerance that is still present in one's community as well as racism
Chapter 1: Katniss wakes up on the morning of the reaping to find that her little sister, Prim, has moved to their mother’s bed in the middle of the night. Katniss rises from bed and gets dressed. She grabs her forage bag and retrieves a piece of goat cheese that Prim has left for her under a bowl. Katniss’s family lives in the part of District 12 known as the Seam. Today is reaping day, and the reaping itself doesn’t take place until two, so the streets are empty.
Katniss Everdeen, the main character, is recovering from the quarter quell. She is being told by Gale that district 12 was blown up. When the went there, she was shocked. Katniss gathered all of the cherished belongings and then went to district eight. President Snow bombed a hospital and other places around it. Katniss saw how many people were suffering from diseases and death. Katniss, Gale and their crew team were walking around until the capital finds them. As they try to hit Katniss, they miss and hit the hospital. Katniss was thinking why Snow was doing this. She saw Peeta when he was giving a propo and warns district 13 that Snow is going to bomb them. They take cover in the lowest level, but Katniss can not find Prim. Would you like to know what happens next?
Katniss is well aware that her and Peeta are far from safety and all her skills she used to protect her before can be the death of her now. Not only does she have to continue the star-crossed lovers "act" with Peeta, but she has to follow President Snow's every demand in order to protect the ones she loves. Katniss' simple act of "love" may have unintentionally lead to one of the greatest rebellions of all time and now it's finally her turn to stand up and show the Capitol that she is not some piece in their
Katniss transforms into the strict "young woman burning." She enters a dreamlike state in which she is in unpleasant distress and needs amazing. Over her is sky with those she treasures as flying animals, yet her wings miss the mark her and she plunges into seawater where creatures snare at her. Reliably she comes back to life yet stays in a faint space in which her visitors are both alive and dead. The pros join new skin to her body. She upgrades physically yet is secured in agony. She finds that Peeta survived and is in the duplicate unit. Tropical storm also survived and is in District 2 cleaning up Peacekeepers. Cressida and Pollux made it out alive, also.
For my independent novel study, I have decided to use Suzanne Collin’s Novel the Hunger Games; a story set around a teenaged girl’s firsthand account of gladiator-like sports in a post-apocalyptic era where North America once stood. The book creates a mood or sense of suspense and hope for Katniss Everdeen, the protagonist who has to fight for survival in the Hunger Games. This reminds me of and relates to the novel Lord of the Flies by William Golding. Where in his novel, a group of boys are found stranded on an island in the middle of nowhere and must fight for their survival as well as hope to be rescued. Katniss, just like the boys, finds herself trapped in an arena with other tributes, but
Personally, I don’t like to read books because I am not fond with reading and it’s time consuming, but reading the Mockingjay improved the bonds between me and books. I didn’t realize how interesting a book can be. While I was reading this book, I would think about what was going to happen next in the story or how a problem would affect the story later on. The author put a lot of situational irony in this book which makes this story unpredictable. I even stayed up all night to finish reading the majority of the book. I strongly recommend people who don’t like reading books to read the Mockingjay. I guarantee their bonds between books will also improve like mine. You don‘t need to like any specific topics to read this book but you need to understand that the beginning of the book might be kind of boring but it helps you understand the story better. I suggest you don’t skip pages when you read this book.
Chapter 3: Even as Katniss is being ripped away from her family she does what she can to try to keep it together. She has sacrificed herself for their sake, and wants to make sure that they survive without her. Katniss promises that she'll try to win for Prim. Love motivates her. Katniss is touched because the baker promises to keep an eye on Prim. He also hands her cookies. Katniss continues to discover that she’s made more connections in District 12 than she realized. Madge, for example, seems to think of Katniss as her friend, despite their class differences.Although Gale and Katniss have never acknowledged how close they are before, the fact that they now have limited time together pushes them to drop some of their pretenses. Katniss is
Imagine living in a world that puts all obstacles against you. That is the life Katniss lives. She was raised in the poorest part of Panem, providing for herself and family ever since the death of her father. Also, Katniss grew up learning about The Hunger Games and how the games force the tributes to act in different manners. The nature of Katniss’ life before the games causes confusion about her relationship with Peeta. Peeta starts as the baker’s son, but quickly transitions to a fellow tribute, to a guy she is supposed to be in love with, to a guy she may actually love. All of Peeta’s actions are brought to question by Katniss. She has trouble seeing his actions as genuine. The nature of Katniss’ life in the Seam before she participates
You folded the note and put it back into the parachute. "Screw you, Haymitch," she laughed to herself. Inside the parachute was some sort of soap. You brought it inside to feed it to Peeta. "That's nice," he smiled. "But you know I can feed myself"
Writing Prompt: Which character from a book would you most like to meet and why? What would you ask them? How would they respond?
Right at the start of the book you learn about Katniss’s relationship with Peeta and Gale. Although Katniss had to act like she was in love with Peeta during the games, she isn’t sure she really is. She thinks that she might have feelings for Gale but she can’t act upon them because of President Snow. Although Katniss doesn’t know how she feels about Peeta or Gale, she and Peeta tell the public that she and Peeta got engaged to show that they are both in love with each other to try and make President Snow happy. Her hope was that if she and Peeta said they got engaged it would stop the revolts going on in the other districts.
Katniss is very independent and responsible. Katniss is protective of her sister and will do anything to help her. She proved this by when she volunteered as tribute in her sister’s place for the 74th Annual Hunger Games. Also, when Katniss’s father dies, she feels the urge to step it up and take control as head of the house. She does this to make sure she and her family is safe from the peacekeepers and her and Prim won’t get taken away from their mother.
Mockingjay is the best book out of the series. Its about Katniss wanting revenge on the capitol for what they have done to Peeta. She forms a team that will show her on camera so member of her resistance can support her. She is idolized by every one that dislikes the capitol. Katniss also visits districts to show her love and support for people who are resisting. This book is a very interesting mix of all the senses, it contains so much action, passion, love, and pain. The book couldve ended better, like a tragedy in my opinion, but we all love happy endings. Katniss and Peeta return safely after infiltrating the capitol to assasinate president Snow, which in a turn of events, dies laughing as he sees president Coin die by the hands of
