Water Ghosts. That’s what they were called. Not that anyone in Beacon Hills knew that. As far as they were concerned all the drownings were down to some psychotic murderer. But nothing in Beacon hills is ever as simple as that. Scott McCall and his pack knew something supernatural was going on.Though they couldn’t quite put their finger on it. Little did they know that the drownings were only brushing the surface of what was really going on. Dragging bodies underwater to feed their insatiable hunger for innocent souls, Water Ghosts are the killers. Capturing anyone whom they like that cross their river, the water ghosts aren’t alone. No, the Lost Souls are what you must really fear. The Lost Souls – seemingly harmless and innocent, yet
Armstrong Sperry creates an eerie mood by using apprehensive language in “The Ghost Of the Lagoon”, a story about a boy that defeats a ruthless ghost that haunts the island of Bora Bora. For example, Mako’s grandfather tells him a somber event his father was “one of the the three fisherman in the canoe that Tupa destroyed.” The way in which Armstrong Sperry phrases the words tells the reader that Mako would feel solem for his father, and fell as though it was his duty as an honorable son to defeat the menacing phantom once and for all. Mako finally met the ghost of the lagoon when “there was another fin - a huge one. It had never been there before. And could he believe his eyes? It was moving … the great white fin, shaped like a sail with phosphorescent
The lighthouse on this island seemed like salvation at the time and they would swim thinking they would be saved. Each man are proof of everything that is dark and evil in this world.
Did you know that 18 percent of Americans claim that they have seen a ghost? All over the world, there have been sighting of ghosts. Because of these statistics I believe that ghost are real. More like spirits, ghost are something that can walk through walls. Ghosts are not real science proves it, common sense, even proves it because why can they throw things and still walk through walls! I believe that ghosts are not real, but spirits are.

Also when passenger and survivor Jack Thayer shared his journey, through his writing with author Lauren Tarshis. It makes the article more intriguing to use quotes because it makes you feel as if you are on the ship on that night.

A symbol is an object, action, or event that represents something or that creates a range of associations beyond itself. Many times these symbols work to express ideas, convey meanings, or emphasize certain points. In the novel, “The Awakening” by Kate Chopin, water is utilized to signify empowerment. The main protagonist Edna begins her awakening by learning to swim on a family vacation in Grand Isle and ends her journey by drowning herself in the ocean at the conclusion of the novel. This highlights the power water holds by showcasing its power to change people’s lives.
Throughout the book, In Our Time, water is a very symbolic element. In the beginning, the water is frigid. In my opinion, this is a foreshadowing and symbolic figure of death. The air on the the lake is misty, therefore Nicks family does not see the what lies ahead of them. They found the man in a pool of his own blood, laying there cold and dead.
Blackbeard was a true legend of his time sailing the high seas, capturing ships and, of course, claiming tremendous amounts of riches. A quiet life he lives but something is wrong his time is short and he must seek the help of a local fortune teller for advice.
The men would most likely have died facing the tough obsticals of the San Francisco bay the island was surrounded by. The text clearly states the words “shark infested waters of the bay”. If any kind of struggle like waves would have happened on the boat a shark would probably attempt to eat the men thinking it was some kind of prey in a struggle. The text also states
If we look back to June 11, 1962, the weather patterns will show you that the current had been very strong and was going in the opposite direction than the men had anticipated. The next morning a paddle was found that had washed up ashore, historians believe that these men had died from hypothermia, but sources say that on the day of the Anglin brothers, mothers funeral, two women with very heavy makeup showed up and left quickly before anyone could ask who they were. Then there is a mysterious case of who sent flowers to the family, no card or signature was with the
As I sat next to the loud river that was bursting out of the Sylvan Dam, I noticed the water was in an invariable battle with the rocks, crashing and thrashing against each other like medieval warriors scraping for land. I looked around the edges of the river to see the copiousness of colors from the trees contrasting the sinister blue water. The rapids put off a pleasant and dulcet sound that ultimately ended in me having to relieve some building pressure down the trail. After returning to my riverside view, I noticed that farther down the gleaming river, fish were jumping and flipping like delicious pancakes on a griddle. Making the split-second decision to fish, I sprinted to my 1999 black Chevy Silverado, unlatched the tailgate and snatched all of my waterproof fishing gear. Slipping on my Mossberg max 4 Camo Gander Mountain guided series waders is no easy chore. While looking like the most incapable human being ever I finally managed to slip on the foul scum smelling waders that I so dearly should have washed. Feeling like a professional mountain climber, I started scaling the steep inclement of the river bank. Stomping my insulated waders into the frigid dour murky water, I ventured my path out onto a construction of rocks forming a beautiful approach for spotting fish. I released my light green jointed shad Rapala from my St. Croix Legend Elite spinning rod and casted the shad into pooling backwater just off of my rocky approachment. Feeling the vibration of the shad through my rod, smacking against slime covered rocks and ripping through dense weedy areas. I felt aspirant to not get hung up on a rock resulting in a line break, I successfully retrieved my lure. After casting and reeling my line several times and just started zoning out, I was abruptly startled to hear a ruckus coming from the west side embankment. Glancing quickly back to the water to see where my lure was only to hear a loud splash coming from the same place where I first noticed the ruckus. Three deer, with golden brown fur coated enrolled into the water. Realizing that the leaders of the small herd were both doe’s and a younger buck eagerly followed. The buck had a nice six-point rack, with long tines and a wide spread. He kept his
Small and large seashells covered the beach, piled in some places, as if to create cairns where stones were absent. Meandering footpaths had been cleared all the way to the water, so no shells would be destroyed. You see, the shells here were special. Each one held the soul of a person who wasn 't here anymore. If you believed the stories that is. There were people devoted to preserving the beach, that it might be here for people who need it, but there were also those who thought the seashells couldn’t possibly be magic.
The Teragothans have a legend among their kind. It speaks of beings that live in the ocean. Unlike the human mermaid mythos, these water angels sing no siren song to call souls into the dark embrace of death. Far from it. They are said to flock towards the drowning, providing buoyancy,
Water is a human right, not a commodity. It is the essence of life, sustaining every living being on the planet. Without it we would have no plants, no animals, no people. However, while water consumption doubles every twenty years our water sources are being depleted, polluted and exploited by multinational corporations. Water privatization has been promoted by corporations and international lending institutions as the solution to the global water crises but the only one’s who benefit from water privatization are investors and international banks. The essential dilemma of privatization is that the profit interests of private water utilities ultimately jeopardizes the safeguarding of the human right to water. Access to clean, sufficient
When Mako wakes up the next morning he feels as he had been sleeping for 10 years. Mako was so overjoyed that had killed the ghost, Tupa, that took his father's life years before.
