A freshman college level English Composition course aims to improve students' abilities with writing, critical thinking, mechanics and usage, punctuation, grammar, and vocabulary. By studying English 101 at Luzerne County Community College, I will work diligently to improve in all of these aspects. My main focus is to develop skills specifically to create clear and concise thesis statements, strong and persuasive essays with cajolement, and to develop different perspectives on narratives and other essays. These writing skills may also improve my critical thinking and reading skills.
Oceanography also called oceanology or marine science, is the branch of Earth science that studies the ocean. It covers a wide range of topics, including marine organisms and ecosystem dynamics; ocean currents, waves, and geophysical fluid dynamics; plate tectonics and the geology of the sea floor; and fluxes of various chemical substances and physical properties within the ocean and across its boundaries. These diverse topics reflect multiple disciplines that oceanographers blend to further knowledge of the world ocean and understanding of processes within it: biology, chemistry, geology, meteorology, and physics as well as geography.
In Mother Tongue, I agree with Amy Tan’s claim that people value how you speak more than what you are speaking. Tan explained how her mother spoke poor English and this lead to others treating her mother as inferior. This belief has come to fruition in my experiences as well; I recall a time when I was waiting in line to check out at ShopRite, I noticed how the cashier gave the lady in front of me attitude as the lady bought her groceries. When I checked out however, the cashier was pleasant. Subsequent to reading Tan’s passage, it hit me that the cashier's negative demeanor was probably due to the fact that the customer in front of me spoke broken English with a foreign accent. The lady was attempting to learn a second language
During the sixteenth century Spain had control over land in the Caribbeans and America that was ten times the size of Spain. One of the most famous conquerors was a man by the name of Cortes. His first target was the Aztec Empire one of the richest empires in America. After a very bloody battle Cortes successfully conquered the empire “converting” its people to Christianity and taking their gold. From this Cortes became on of the richest men in the world. This event inspired many others to do the same with many choosing the life of a conquistador to find their riches in the new world. The amount of conquistadors started to make Spain worry if they were to try and rule New Spain and that they were killing more Indians instead of converting

The impact of the unknow is only holding us back from our greatest potential. Zinn goes in great depths describing the true American History and the impact it has made for the future. The America that is displayed in the book has a more realistic viewpoint of many of our tragic events, that occurred and made an impact to change our history. Overall through our good and bad as a nation we need to grown to ecapt all as it is, for it makes who we are and what our history is. Applying the truth now only opens the door of the positive possibilities to come from learning from our worst disasters, to greatest victories. This shows the highs and lows, the reality of what actually occurred to make natural Americans. Zinn describes in his Afterword that
Sacaguea was a daughter of a Shoshone Chief. Her father favored her very much along with her brother Cameahwait. No one knows anything about her mother.
Are there two large statements connected loosely by a coordinating conjunction (i.e. "and," "but," "or," "for," "nor," "so," "yet")?
A: “America was the place, the land of tall skyscrapers, televisions, cars, and airplanes.” This announces the writer’s viewpoint of “I wanted the ideal life: a big house, lots of money, cars. I wanted to find the perfect happiness that so many people have longed for.
In the story “The Cask of Amontillado” by Edgar Allan Poe a guy named Montresor is seeking revenge on Fortunato because he insulted him. In my opinion Montresor is taking this way to far when he says he wants to kill him just because he said something bad about him. When he says this I can easily see that the narrator is very violent and has a sick mind.
"Russian!" My nerves blocked me from noting the inquiry regarding my educator's nationality. That was one bit of data I learned. Quickly, the class made presumptions about her name and emphasize, in view of our predispositions, not realities. In the wake of creating numerous reactions, we found our educator is from Argentina. The following proficient analysis was at home, looking into an inquiry from the early on survey alluding to preferred gender pronouns (PGP), the pronouns individuals support when conversing with or about them. This activity showed regard for one's sex character in the class, another foundation exercise highlighting inclusion.
FINDING RESEARCH We'wha was a cultural hero and political pioneer in the Zuni group in the late nineteenth century, at one point serving as an emissary from that southwestern Native American country to Washington, D.C. He was the most grounded, smartest, and most regarded individual from his group. What's more, he was a berdache, a male who wearing female clothing. Such men were loved in Zuni hovers for their assumed association with the powerful, the most skilled of them called lhamana or spiritual pioneer. We'wha was the most observed Zuni lhamana of the nineteenth century.
Pojman disagreed with the strong dependency thesis, he reasoned that if we can establish the truth, based on factual or scientific validation, then we can also try to find truth in morality. As science is able to validate its findings through research, moral and truth can also be prove through time and places. As we know slavery was once deemed legal, but in time it was well established and agree upon that owning a person is morally wrong.
When my step mother and I first walked into the VFW we were automatically surrounded by Filipino-American people. The party that I am attending is called an International/ Fil-Am Club party and was the Saturday before father’s day. According to Melcar they have these parties monthly for different occasions. I was excited to come not only to spend time with my stepmother and my father, but I was also excited to learn more about her culture. When we walked in I saw many small groups sitting at long tables laughing and talking with each other in a different language that I could not understand. It was around six o’clock and I was extremely hungry. The whole gymnasium smelt amazing and I made a V-line for the food area shortly after we found our seats. The tables were full of food that I have never seen before and some that I was kind of familiar with. They were very colorful, vibrant, and interesting food. Some I had seen Melcar make before, like the spring rolls for example. I have watched her take all the ingredients from scratch and mush them together with her bare hands very tightly. They form into tight perfect little rolls and she fries them in bubbling hot oil. I filled my plate full, because I was familiar with them and knew what was in them. Mel came up behind me and I started asking her about the other food. She did her best to explain to me what they were and many of them I had never heard of before. We laughed as I poked the octopus with a
