A man will always have to face adversity in one way or another, the way that you address adversity is usually called a conflict. A conflict can be described in multiple ways such as man vs man, man vs nature, and man vs nature just to name a few. Conflict is inevitable in life, but the manner in which you handle is your own choice.
A man facing a conflict against another man can be handled maturely or immaturely. Someone who handles a conflict more maturely is almost always going to resolve their problem faster and in a better fashion than someone who handles in a immaturely way. A conflict versus another person, it should always be a person’s goal to solve their conflict quickly and more effectively. Man versus self conflict is not always a bad thing, this can push people to better themselves and to success. Man versus self conflict is a large part of motivation to do something better or differently, in Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe, Okonkwo has a self conflict after the killing of Ikemefuna, which he is self conscious about, his conflict is justified by the strong action that was very bold of him to carry out. Whether we like it or not, conflict is a part of everyday lives. It can happen to anyone, from your friends to your family.
Conflict is not something that can be avoided, especially in fiction. In fact, conflict is the main purpose of how a story came to be – without conflict, there will be no story. As quoted from Peder Hill (n.d.), “Its the primary ingredient that weaves together all the other elements of a novel”. However, conflict can arise in a story in various forms and they alter the course of the story. For instance, a conflict of decision. What decision is made by the characters moves the story. This is called external conflict, which Rector (2002) defines as “a struggle between a character and an outside force”. On the other hand, conflict within a character may also arise, which is called internal conflict. Internal conflict means “a struggle that
Characters are the heart of a book. They make the story interesting and help explain the theme and plot. Without a strong list of characters a book becomes dull. In Chinua Achebe’s Things Fall Apart the characters help explain the lost Ibo culture, from strong to lazy, to women and a sacrifice to prevent war. The main character sets up the plot of a book, through their life and point of view the story is told. The main character in Things Fall Apart is a strong and culture hearted man named Okonkwo. He can be described as a tragic hero from his journey and life told in the book. As a sacrifice to prevent war in Umuofia a boy named Ikemefuna is traded to the village he is given to Okonkwo's family and he becomes apart of their family. Mr.
The idea of man versus something in the world is not foreign to most. A lot of the time a person can find another groaning or complaining about something going on or happening. When in true reality, there was nothing that person could do about it. The largest opponent that man has gone, and is going, against is nature itself.
For an abundance of stories the conflicts do not include man vs. man, man vs. nature, or man vs. himself. In the story “The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell this is not the case. The main character Rainsford is frequently facing multiple struggles. The story would not keep you on the edge of your seats the same way unless he is constantly fighting through something no matter how big or small the problem is. For example Rainsford the sailor fights nature in this story. In addition to this, he struggles through the toughness and wits of other men. Furthermore, in this story Rainsford puts up with himself as he fights his mind running through the jungle constantly making last minute, and risky decisions. This story shows countless examples of man vs. man, man vs. nature, and even man vs. himself.

Conflict Starts in the Heart- Conflict is an unavoidable truth. God made each of us in his own particular picture, yet he additionally made us unique. Along these lines some of our perspectives and assessments will contrast from those of others. Conflict regularly happens in light of absence of appreciation for another 's need and perspectives.
We deal with conflict everyday. Whether it is a kid at school that you just can't stand, or a family member. Heck, it may even be a random stranger at the store and he took the last LEGO set that you wanted. Whoever it is with it is still conflict. And when you get conflicted, you don't handle it too well (don't lie to yourself, everybody does it). When people are angry at one another, they want to show that they’re mad. This doesn't just happen in real life though. Conflict and reactions are shown throughout our culture. It can be a book, movie, picture, or even history. No matter what, conflict is all around us, and how we deal with it is very important.
Traditions play a huge role in someones personality and life. I wouldn’t say they define us but they shift and mold who we are going to be when we grow up. If you strip away the core of traditions or activities that were considered normal, it could really affect someone. In Things Fall Apart, Okonkwo is a perfect example of this theory. He was torn that Missionaries came into Umofia while he was gone and changed everything. Okonkwo felt betrayed by how much change took toll in Umofia. He isn’t used to the new rules and regulars given by the Christians. He was offended and didn’t agree with anything the Christian's rules. Unfortunately for Okonkwo, it was too late to change anything. It had been 7 years and the people of Umofia had already been

This may occur when one faces a difficult time and struggles to move forward due to indecisiveness or a tragic incident. For example, in William Shakespeare’s Hamlet, the main character Hamlet faces the tragic event of his late father King Hamlet who is murdered.
In the novel Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe, Achebe introduces the reader to the Ibo society in the village of Umuofia and presents the villager’s perspective on British colonization in Nigeria. He ultimately wants to prove that the African people were not stereotypical barbarians that the British assumed before coming to Africa. When Achebe introduces Nwoye in the first few chapters, Nwoye is seen as a lazy and feminine boy who is expected to live up to his father’s high expectations. But as the story continues, Nwoye evolves into a strong and confident teenager when the missionaries arrive in Umuofia, bringing him hope and strength. Due to the culture clash from British imperialism in Nigeria, Achebe is able to show the significance of individuality through Nwoye’s character change that progresses throughout the book.
