Observed for the first time at “The Wick” with Josh Mayer (Call Me Lemon), Born Wisdom has been planting his feet everywhere from Shady Katie’s to First State Lounge in Philadelphia. Wisdom has been featured before and hits the leading spot again.
In each song, Wisdom declared he shares about himself, his experiences and his life as it is today. In his first song “This Is My Life”, the lyrics delivered in a sort of spoken word form looked into the type of person he used to be, sharing personal trials and tribulations. As he spoke with his voice, body and hands, he conveyed thoughtful expression and various emotions. Usually accompanied by Josh Mayer and his acoustic guitar, a light band and his friend Nikia Comfort offered a change of pace. Comfort added a complimenting female essence to Wisdom’s performance. In a flurry of alternated verses, the duo touched not just on Wisdom’s life, but issues of today, the generic stereotype of Hip Hop culture and being a woman in a “man’s world”. However, not all the songs were so intense and thought provoking as Wisdom dedicated a song to his love and soon to be Wisdom child.

They tossed out a melody and for a moment Wisdom moves himself to the rhythm finding a niche and working it out in his mind. His feeature ended on a positive track, “Every Problem Comes Only Today”. It was a simple song with wholesome lyrics carried only by acoustic guitar and Harmonica. For example, “Every problem comes only today. There’s always tomorrow, today is just a test.” Wisdom offers just that in most of his music mixed with unchaotic and smooth verses. The amount of on the spot creativity showed that he takes a challenge, embraces it and tosses something new out every time.
In the future, perhaps Born Wisdom will headline of his own shows. A CD would be nice to have in my hands, however I feel that may restrict Wisdom in a way. Maybe

In chapter 12, the grandfather taught his grandson wisdom by allowing him to learn from his own mistakes, as had his grandfather before him. The first time I remember learning about wisdom was when I was about six. I had been trying to convince my mother that, since it smelled so good, vanilla extract had to taste amazing. Long story short she told me otherwise, I didn’t listen, and I ended up in a spitting, gagging mess. Wisdom means acquiring many small pieces of knowledge over a lifetime and knowing when and how to put them to use when and where a situation arises in which those particular pieces of information are required. Wisdom is life’s gift to us for trying to demonstrate all the virtues that give meaning to
The controversial context that is often used in Hip-Hop sets the standard of what it means to be ‘masculine’ as an artist of the culture. Artist who does not display contentious lyrical content in their music may not receive as much notoriety in the industry. In today’s Hip-Hop culture, more ‘conscious’, ‘apathetically masculine’ artist like, J. Cole have become more in popular. Cole’s lyrics are a reflection of his adversities that he has endured during his lifetime. Cole’s inspirations behind his music does not stem from a place of violence or from his ability to accumulate wealth, but from his ability to overcome his hardships as a black man and fulfill his purpose in life.
Neil Johnson is a singer-songwriter from the northwestern, United States. Raised up from a family of traveling musicians, Neil has developed a passion for the pickup gig, the "show up and blow doors" mentality, the "where did this guy come from?!" league. It's gotten him into trouble and it's gotten him into the hearts of many who have had the pleasure of watching his performance.
So why would the band choose to illustrate such a serious stage of personal development with the nursery rhyme-like style of the song's chorus? Before we get to that, the song's emotional and psychological message must first be examined.
In today’s world, knowledge is useless without the wisdom to apply it to real life situations. The great biblical author, King Solomon, once wrote, “How much better to get wisdom than gold, to get insight rather than silver!” (Proverbs 16:16). Wisdom is the quality of having experience, knowledge, and good judgment. In Chaim Potok’s novel The Chosen, the main characters Reb Saunders and David Malters display their immense wisdom when raising their children. In addition Danny Saunders also shows wisdom with the way he handles his friendship with Reuven Malters. The theme of wisdom exists throughout the chosen but, it remains mostly evidenced by the characters Reb Saunders, Danny Saunders, and David Malter.
To every present there is a past. Looking into someone's past, you can begin to understand how their upbringing molded them into the person they are right now. John Abbott is prime example of this. He grew from a young boy, living in a small town, into a loving, caring, hard working father. John was shaped into a grateful son and a supportive brother through his childhood experiences. His passion for music drove him to look at life in a new light. Listening and feeling the lyrics that related to his actions and individual thoughts. Through John’s upbringing into the genre of specifically, hip-hop, he was able to let loose and use it as a perfect outlet for the stress of the world around him, he explained it as “Music is the positive thing”. John looked up to the men who created this music, creating a bond with their style and lyrical composition. They helped influence the man he is today.
In this essay, Joan Morgan talks about how the hip hop allows African Americans to articulate their pain. She considers that the beauty of hip hop comes from is its ability to express all kind of feelings, but many feels that hip hop lower women to just a sex object. In her journey to understand what is happening to men in the black community, she exposes herself to the music of famous male rappers. To her surprise, she discovers that the macho appearance is just a disguise to hide how hopeless they feel when it comes
Scott Mescudi is a hip-hop artist whose music captures the mind of his listeners through his depressed melodic harmonies. As a child he suffered a traumatic incident that led him to become what he is today for better or for worse. His father died when he was eleven years old inspiring him musically and as a person. With Scott’s father dieing he became depressed (Jaliman). He struggled through life dealing with his depression as a kid through when he is an adult. The only way for him to feel an escape from his sadness and lonesomeness was through his artistic ability in creating music. Through that Scott expresses his passions and demons. On his album “Man on the Moon” and other popular works such as his single “The Prayer”, Kid Cudi speaks
In his novel, Siddhartha, Herman Hesse implies that wisdom plays a huge part of the story since it seems to be a topic we’re jumping into a lot. For example, that is what inspires Siddhartha to go on his long life learning journey, to look for more knowledge and find wisdom. Along with that, to represent Siddhartha finding wisdom, he puts him through different kinds of experiences, since wisdom can be gained only from that.
At first glance, it may seem like Kesha’s music does not have any political or social significance. With repetitive melodies, dance beats, and lyrics about sex, drugs, alcohol, and partying, it would be easy to assume that Kesha’s music is merely stock pop dance music. After attending her concert at TCF Bank Stadium on October 21, 2016, it became apparent to me that Kesha’s performances have deeper motives. This essay will prove that Kesha’s performances spread a message of tolerance, positive self-regard, and resilience.
Wisdom is knowledge gained through experience. “Wisdom is not expressible. Wisdom, when a wise man tries to express it, always sounds like foolishness. Knowledge can be expressed, but not wisdom. One can discover it, one can live it, one can be borne along by it, one can do miracles with it, but one cannot express it and teach it.”
Do you ever wonder what is the meaning behind what you so proudly sing whenever you hear it? Music is an art form of culture which organizes sound with times It first came around in prehistoric times, however, as times passes, music is drastically changing. As a result, in the last decades music has experienced drastic changes in the themes they are talking about. These changes are due to the generations and what they are living, political and social actions of the time. For example, the decade of the 80s was the rise of hip-hop and rap music from a local phenomenon to a worldwide known genre of music. Previously, a crack cocaine epidemic had stroke major cities in the USA and it coincided with the rise of hip-hop in black communities as these
The second song I analyzed was “Paradise” by Coldplay. Similarly to “Kids”, the song “Paradise” starts with the idea of childhood. “When she was just a girl she expected the world. But it flew away from her reach so she ran away in her sleep and dreamed of paradise” is the opening verse for this tune. It talks of a young girl with big dreams expecting the world. As the girl in the song grows up she finds that life is not as simple as she believed. “Life goes on, it gets so heavy. The wheel breaks the butterfly. Every tear a waterfall. In the night the stormy night she'll close her eyes.” Those lyrics are a good example of how life has some downs, tears, and storms, but it talks of how the girl stays positive when the song says, “She’d say, ‘I know the sun must set to rise.’” I think this song is a good reflection of me. I have big dreams for myself, but as life goes on I go through some bumps in the road. I have encountered many of my own stormy nights, but I know the sun will rise to a clearer and brighter day in time. I have learned not to expect things to be handed to me, but to chase after my dreams, and my own perfect paradise to a path of success.
