Thomas Edison was born on February 11, 1847, to middle-class parents in the port of Milan, Ohio. The last of the seven children of Samuel and Nancy Edison. Edison had little education in his young life only learning how to read, write since he only attends school for a few months. His short-tempered teacher grew tired of Edison’s avid and eager questioning also his criticism towards the subject matter so he was expelled. He is one of the most famous and influential inventors in the history of the world. Edison is seen to some as a villain in history as he has gotten credit for ideas such as the light bulb that had come from someone else. The truth is Edison is both not an angel nor devil. Edison is a hero because of his large amount of inventions, he took challenges and used them for strength over weaknesses, and he is seen as a role model as both an engineer along with a person in general. Edison could also seen as bad from the fact sometimes he let his wealth control him and some of is innovation ideas are believed to have been stolen. The truth is Edison is neither extreme however should be viewed much more positively than negatively.

When one thinks of a famous inventor from the past, who is the first person that comes to mind? Most would say Thomas Edison, who died in 1931, but is still living in a way. Even in the 21st century, he is surrounding us with his inventions, such as functional incandescent light bulbs, and even the cell phone you have in your pocket right now. Born in 1847 in Canal Town, Milan, Edison had a long and successful career as an inventor up until the time of his death in 1931, at the age of 81. He was married to Mary Stilwell until her death in 1884. Shorly after, he married Mina Miller. A well known American innovator, his most significant and famous inventions include the phonograph, the motion picture camera, and the long lasting practical electric light bulb. Thanks to his inventions, Thomas Edison greatly impacted the world we live in today.

Back in the early 1800s, the Edison family fled to Canada among many others interested in the loyalist movement that offered a 600 acre grant to those who moved to the province of Nova Scotia. Thomas Alva Edison was an unconventional genius that played a vital role in shaping the modern world with his inventions, but didn’t accomplish this role easily. Edison led an inquisitive life encompassing his disruptive adolescence, unconventional methods of success, and exceptional ability to endure failure. Although his inventions and ideologies exemplified him, Thomas Edison overcame tremendous obstacles throughout his lifetime before achieving his anticipated goals.

Thomas Alva Edison will always be an important figure in American History. his ingenious innovations he created were astonishing and marked a huge step for mankind towards the future. In the Biography written by Martin V. Melosi he explains in great detail how Thomas Edison's innovation shaped modern society in America. In the book Melosi states " Edison was hardly a modern man, but he left the world with a legacy of invention that helped to create the twentieth century as we know it."(Pg200)

A lot of people know of Samuel Adams, but do they know anything about him other than that he’s one of our founding fathers? Samuel Adams was one of many of our founding fathers. He was a signer of the Declaration of Independence. He was married to one Elizabeth Checkley from 1749 to 1757. He also worked as multiple things like a politician, a brewer, a revolutionary, and tax collector.

The scientist that I have chosen that has contributed to American ingenuity is Thomas Edison. Thomas Alva Edison has been one of the most revered inventors of the 19th century. Thomas Edison has been known to be an inventor and entrepreneur. Most of Thomas Edison success involved electricity or communication. From his laboratories and workshops, he created the phonograph, carbon-button transmitter for the telephone speakers and microphone, the incandescent lamp, a generator, the first commercial electric light and power system. Thomas Edison was just not an inventor he was also an entrepreneur where he had patented close to 900 patents, which ranged from electric light and power of 389, 150 for telegraph, 195 for phonograph, 141 for storage
