Thomas Jefferson is one of the well know respected founding fathers that built this county rules that we still live by today. He was born on April 13th, 1743 in the colony of Virginia, To Jane Randolph and Peter Jefferson, he was the third child of 10. His father was a planter. Upon the death of his father Peter Jefferson, Thomas at age 14 inherited 5,000 acres of land. He would assume full ownership at age 21. As a child he learned through many tutors in Tuckahoe. At nine he started attended school and studying natural worlds and different languages. he then eventually studies under Reverend James Maury and learned all different types of subjects and then traveled to Williamsburg and attended College of William & Mary. Thomas Jefferson, the third president of the United States, was an American founding father who positively shaped our country and impacted the American people. He was a spokesman for democracy, which allows the people to have their voices be heard for policies regarding the government. His views opposed a strong centralized government and helped show the potential of states rights. Moving forward, Thomas Jefferson was a man of numerous talents and interests earlier to becoming a celebrated asset to the United States. He was born April 13, 1743 in Shadwell, Virginia. He was the third of ten children born to Peter and Jane Jefferson. Jefferson loved to read. With that being said, he collected thousands of books and kept them at his estate Monticello, which later in life he donated to the Library of Congress after the British burnt the original down in 1812. Furthermore, he studied law in Virginia and became one of the nation’s best lawyers. Likewise, he valued his farm and his main income came from his tobacco crops.

He was best known for writing the Declaration of Independence which proclaims all men are equal in rights regardless of birth, wealth or status. A fun fact you may not know is that only 5 out of 9 of Thomas Jefferson’s sibling’s survived past there 30’s! When Thomas was little he liked to go to the mountains to explore.
