Tobacco Vs E-Cigarettes Tobacco has become one of the many health concerns in the United States. Health Literacy states “Native Americans smoked tobacco through a pipe for special religious and medical purposes.” This demonstrates that tobacco has been a thing for some time now (History of Tobacco). During the time the Native Americans had tobacco plants we now have e-cigarettes. National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) states that e-cigarettes are “battery-operated devices that people use to inhale an aerosol, which typically contains nicotine (though not always)” (NIDA). Also, National Institute on Drug Abuse informs that “Research so far suggests that e-cigarettes are less harmful than cigarettes when people who regularly smoke switch to them as a complete replacement…” (NIDA). This shows that Regulating e-cigarettes should not be allowed in America because they do not contain all the deadly components that tobacco contains, they are less expensive than regular cigarettes and they help with breaking their addiction with tobacco related products. E-cigarettes should not be regulated because they are not as harmful as regular cigarettes. Many people believe that the most dangerous element of tobacco is nicotine.
