Yesterday around 5pm after finishing work and heading back to the hotel, Todd was following Ozzie and CK when for reasons yet to be determined Todd’s van failed to slow down striking the Tundra with Ozzie and CK in it from behind. Both vehicles are at the plant and all involved are being checked and screened. So far CK and Ozzie are diagnosed with muscle strain, and Todd reports no injury. So far the investigation has revealed that Todd’s DOT card expired 7/19 and was set up yesterday evening post accident to renew it today, and according to the CWS Fleet Safety Manual should have not been operating a company vehicle. I currently have IT gathering his cell use during the period from 4-5pm yesterday to eliminate possible use as a distraction.
In this scenario, we have Debbie Young who has been a special education teacher and assistant principal in a school district in the south prior to becoming a high school principal. One day Debbie is approached by parents of a tenth-grade student named Jonathan, who has several disabilities that require constant care by a trained nurse. Jonathan is profoundly mentally disabled and suffers from spastic quadriplegia as well as having a seizure disorder. Principal Young turns down the parents’ request because of the expense of having a student with these conditions at the school and the view that the school is not the most appropriate placement for Jonathan.
Seizure: Origins, Text, And History). The second was the importance that prohibition-era cases began to place on requiring a warrant to search and seize evidence (Search and Seizure: Origins, Text, And History). Third was the rising standard of probable cause need to achieve a search warrant (Search and Seizure: Origins, Text, And History). This effectively made Fourth Amendment law standard while ensuring that probable cause was needed to achieve a warrant.
Seizures occur when abnormal signals from the brain and changes the way the body functions. Many people have seizures but they have different effects on them. Some people have a little shaking of their hands and do not lose consciousness, while others have a lot of shaking and do lose consciousness. While seizures have a range of life changing effects for adults, more needs to be focus on children.
On the morning of the B.O.G, Taylor had a seizure on the bus on the way to school. School personnel determined that because of her drowsiness and being dazed following the seizure, she was not in the right frame of mind to test. We rescheduled the testing for the next day, for which she was absent. Subsequently, we have been waiting to give Taylor an opportunity to make up the test, however, she has been absent on September 12, 16, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23 and 26th. She has been in the hospital two of those days. Her mother reports that the seizures are getting worse and medication has been increased and a new medication has been added to the regimen. The medications are not having any effect on the frequency of the seizures and they are occurring
It was believed a seizure in the brain caused by the electric current would stimulate the release of neurotransmitters, and would allow the brain to reorganize to function correctly (Nasar). Neurotransmitters are chemical substances that transmit signals that facilitate cell to cell communication throughout the nervous system, and play a key component in the biological paradigm for treatment of schizophrenia. At this early stage of understanding schizophrenia’s pathology, it was believed these chemicals were imbalanced and shocking the brain would force a rebalance of these vital chemicals. Once rebalanced, it was hypothesized the patient would no longer suffer from schizophrenia (Tharyan, 2005). The insight into treating neurotransmitter imbalances in patients diagnosed with schizophrenia began the treatment path to present day antipsychotic pharmaceutical drug therapy. While the actual effects of electroshock therapy on patients with schizophrenia are unclear, it is still used today to treat schizophrenic patients who are resistant to pharmaceutical drug therapy. Electroshock therapy was the utilization of insulin coma therapy and electroshock therapy to treat schizophrenia were successful partly due to the required hospital admittance and doctor administered methodology. In both treatments the patients were required to be admitted into a hospital and were not responsible for administering the treatment themselves. While both treatment methods were viewed as inhumane and
Seizures may arise at any stage of age, but certain periods of life present a higher risk for their emergence. The frequency of seizures in the epileptic population varies widely. Some epileptic experiences only two seizures in a lifetime, and other may suffer 100 of attacks daily. Approximately 25 percent of epileptic experience seizures that are uncontrolled by current forms of
A sudden attack of neurons is a complex neurological disorder, deemed the term seizure. A seizure is the physical findings or changes in behavior that occur after an episode of abnormal electrical brain activity.1 Epilepsy or seizure disorders affect about 1.8 percent of adults 18 years or older.2 Men present with their first seizure more often; 58%. Symptoms associated with seizures vary according to the brain region affected, and do not always indicate a seizure. Some symptoms involved are drooling, brief blackout, shaking of the entire body, and sudden falls.1 According to John Hopkins Medicine, there are generalized, absence, myoclonic, tonic-clonic, atonic, and partial seizures.3 Most times individuals with seizure activities
On May 9th, 2014, I had an unexpected seizure in the middle of the night. At the time my parents were asleep, and they were awoken in a state of shock. Seizures are really scary because they are unexpected. As a matter of fact, the people who go through them are totally unaware of their surroundings and are left vulnerable to the dangers around them. Because of this drastic event, I had to go through many time-consuming tests, one of which was the EEG, which took one whole day and night at the hospital. An EEG is a very complex, expensive and time-consuming system, also it is uncomfortable for patients, especially for young children.
There is not much I can remember from my childhood, the memories I do have are probably not the best. Sometimes it is very difficult to even think about certain experiences in my past, but I have decided to share some of my most powerful memories from a portion of my life anyway, even if thinking about it is upsetting. When I was a child, my parents told me a story about an event that happened directly after I came into this world; at the time of my birth, one of the nurses who was meant to be taking care of me accidentally suffocated me for a short period of time, the suffocation caused me to turn blue and go cold, I am fairly certain that this had a sort of damaging effect on the left frontal lobe of my brain, where there is a dark spot that can be seen
Generalized seizure is a type of seizure that starts in one area of the brain and spreads to other hemispheres. Drug that can be use is Carbamazepine. Tonic-clonic seizure is a type of seizure that exhibit repeated jerking motion and fainting. Drug that can be use is ethotoin (Peganone). Absence seizure is s type of seizure that consists of spontaneous loss of consciousness, and individual exhibit blinking or staring for a few seconds. Drug that can be use is valproic acid. Partial seizure is a type of seizure that consists of one area of the brain with no additional effects of other part of the brain. Drug that can be use is phenytoin (Dilantin). Status epilepticus is s type of seizure that reoccurs often and rapidly. Drug that can be use is diazepam (Karch, 2013, pg. 379).
During this quarter Jose did not experience any serious injuries. He experienced a hospitalization with admitting diagnosis of Acute Seizure (prolonged postictal lethargy and AMS) form 1/20/18 to 1/23/18; during his hospital staying, he consulted with the neurologist whom ordered an EEG that showed abnormal electroencephalogram consistent with independent interictal activity in both hemispheres supporting the diagnosis of chronic epilepsy; Trileptal was discontinued, no changes Keppra, Lamictal or Topamax. Other studies/workup included a CT head w/o contrast that showed chronic ethmoid sinusitis, normal chest x-ray, elevated ammonia levels, and low potassium (corrected). Prior his hospitalization Jose consulted with neurology on 11/21/17 who recommended the initiation of Trileptal, CT head if not done within 2017, and indicated that he may need a VNS if not improvement on refractory seizures. His next neurology follow up will be on 2/21/18.
The patient's family is furious with his decision to go ahead with the risky surgery.
Epilepsy is a common neurological disorder characterized by periodic seizures. Cognitive deficits and impairments in learning and memory are also associated with this disorder. Neuronal changes and synaptic modifications in kindling model of epilepsy are similar to those occurring during the learning procedure and memory formation. Herein we investigated whether seizure susceptibility is predictable based on the learning ability in the Morris water maze (MWM) task.
The quote “Life starts over again when it gets crisp in the fall” was said by Jordan as misery keeps approaching. Daisy sees life very negatively, she sees life as a cycle of boredom that eventually leads to death. Jordan thinks differently and says the quote “Life starts over again when it gets crisp in the fall.” Jordan sees growth and reborn of life in the fall. The image drawn depicts this quote very well. Orange, falling trees with dead leaving falling from the tree portrays the fall. The fall is the season where plants and tree usually die due to the climate change. On the other side of the picture, wind and a pack of clouds are drawn to emphasis the gloom and sadness of the fall. But then on the very edge of the cloud, there s a bright
A febrile seizure is a convulsion which is related to high fever (above 38 c) caused by sickness and is commonly spread in children under the age of 5. The causes of febrile seizure are still to be found. However, researchers suggest that febrile seizure might be influenced by several factors, among which are illness, genetics and lack of iron.
