As the primary representatives of Tolsia High School, the individuals selected for Mr. and Miss Rebel should demonstrate outstanding leadership capabilities and character that motivate and uplift both themselves and students around them, no matter the circumstances, in or out of school. Proper character traits and behaviors of a good leader do not stop at 3:10; however, such qualities should be continuously displayed beyond the school building and into home and work life as well. In addition, a dynamic leader will show concern for the safety of others before themselves and not use power to get his or her way; rather, the individual gains respect from peers, through selflessness, to uphold a high status in the community. Exemplary leaders responsibilities
Throughout the Pauahi unit there have been numerous amounts of knowledge and wisdom found within the book. However, within the unit there were a few essential life lessons that I was able to take away from. One of which, came from the foundation of Kamehameha Schools. All throughout the unit, Pauahi was constantly making desicions that would continue to shape the future generations of native Hawaiians. Likewise, the will and creation of Kamehameha Schools is no exception. In Pauahi’s will, very specific words were stated in order to ensure the protection of Kamehameha Schools’ values and well-being. An example of such would be when she stated that Kamehameha Schools will prefer those with native Hawaiian blood over those
In the book, Spy School and Evil Spy School by Stuart Gibbs, the main character ,Ben Ripley, changed over the course of the series due to getting kicked out of spy school.

As expected, almost every Gateway Academy student complained about the length of our previous summer reading assignments. In an attempt to appease the masses, this summer we were given Teen Leadership Revolution: How Ordinary Teens Become Extraordinary Leaders by Tom Thelen. Through fourteen chapters Thelen discusses fourteen topics ranging from bullying to self-discipline to honesty. These chapters paired with their respective questions promised to help teens “navigate the storms of life and become great leaders”. While this book was, as promised, shorter than previous assignments, it was also irrelevant, poorly written, and not appropriate for readers my age.
In the book, A Lesson Before Dying by Ernest J. Gaines, Grant Wiggins is a hero of discrimination because at first, he didn’t really care whether or not Jefferson died but after spending time with him, he started to care. In the beginning of the book, Grant was selected by Jefferson’s godmother, Miss Emma to make Jefferson realize that he isn’t a hog. “I want the teacher talk to my boy for me.' He looked over her head at me, standing back by the door. I was too educated for Henri Pichot; he had no use for at all anymore. But just as Miss. Emma had given so much of herself to that family, so had my aunt. So Henri Pichot, who cared nothing in the world
Character. Scholarship. Service. Leadership. These are the four pillars of the National Honor Society. Leadership is more than leading, it is guiding and helping others to complete a shared goal. It is knowing when you are not the expert on a topic and letting someone else take the reins. I believe that I have this quality and, therefore, a leader.
Race and racism are two of the most discussed topics in the book “A Hope in the Unseen”. When Cedric Jennings went to the MIT program during the summer, he was seen as the only “ghetto” student among the other minority students going through the same experience has him. This was mainly because of his ethnicity and his personal background. While he was at Brown University, he was having trouble with his roommate, Rob, because they “didn’t have anything in common,”. One of Cedric’s friends, Chiniqua, tries to encourage him to just hang out with the other black kids but he decides to broaden his horizons by interacting with other ethnicity groups.
A leader is someone who possesses the qualities to both set examples and work well with others while at the same time having enthusiasm with fair judgment that is presented in a positive manner. Being the oldest sibling in my family and oldest of seven cousins has helped me develop these traits that a good leader possesses. in the activities I participate in such as helping instruct during youth baseball and basketball camps. I am willing to grow more and lead as I grow older. Becoming a member of the National Honor Society would allow me to develop important leadership skills that would benefit me later in life. I aim to be a leader and to use my knowledge to advance the causes of the organization.
I have demonstrated the four principles of National Honor Society (NHS), character, scholarship, leadership, and service, throughout my clubs, academic studies, and volunteer work.
To be a leader, others need to believe in you and believe that you are making the right choices daily. I am a leader, in a way, because people come to me for help and I make time for them. Now, one way that a scholarship trait can be demonstrated by character is the responsibility of a student to spend time and learn new ideas and facts and implement these ideas in their daily lives. Finally, one way that a service trait can be shown through character is by caring about the community and the school. One way of doing this is if you notice something wrong or something that can be better in the school or the community, you should contact the school principal or a neighborhood organization and tell them what you believe and don’t expect anything back, such as money or awards. I plan on doing things like this next year, including a debate club, a gardening club, and a tutoring
From growing up in Fayetteville and Sneads Ferry, North Carolina I have not experienced much diversity. The person from whom I had to learn about different cultures and people was my mother. She is an attorney who has worked in public service and experiences peoples from different cultures, races, and creeds daily. My mother taught me not to judge people based on outside appearances but rather than on inside values. From my mother, I learned how to appreciate the fact that every person has their own talents and specialties. Each person has their own preference and opinion and that should be respected as long as it does not cause harm to another. By learning these values from my mom, I believe that I would be a great candidate for Hollins University.
It can come from being in charge in a school project for language arts literacy or running a fundraiser to help raise awareness to a disease. They take charge in something with an effective sense and choose to embrace their acts of self assessment. What their group or themselves is good at,their weaknesses and strengths.Once they figure that out, everything goes smoothly.Even from a project once the topic is clearly explained and managed by the leader there is no problem getting across from the littlest of obstacles. True acts of leadership here in Terence C Reilly, is not being carried out by bad influences. They have a good ethic of relations with other classmates and prove to work collaboratively.Although teamwork and cooperation is part of a leadership, it all leads up to an effective communication within others.Students have different leadership skills, but never do it in a bad way. They are integrated and not even in schoolwork do they have to be leaders. You can hall moniter and you’re the leader of the hallway or perhaps setting up a new fundriser you had created. You are managaing something for
Character is intertwined through the principles of ethics, poise, and candor. Through activities inside and outside the classroom, I have dedicated sixteen years to the pursuit of achieving perfect character. Joining the National Honor Society would allow me to grow as a person, and would further develop my character for me to serve as much as I can for every individual.
Many people have many different views on what a leader is. Leaders vary from team captain to the President of the United States. Of course, the leadership skills a team captain have are much different from those of the President of the United States. In the book, Lord of the Flies, leadership skills show through many of the characters. Boys ages 6-12 years old are left to fight for their lives on an abandoned island after their plane crashes. At this age, some of the boys may think they deserve this position, but the boy with the best leadership skills needs obtain it for the good of the group. The characteristics of a leader in Lord of the Flies vary from being a good public speaker, to being brave and to being willing to listen to the others opinions.
Growing up in a low-income family of eight it certainly not easy. Despite the struggles I am incredibly proud to say my parents have instilled in me the importance of character. National Honor Society values leadership, character, scholarship, and service. I constantly work on applying these values in my everyday life, I take honor in my character traits of integrity, discipline and work ethic and what these attributes will bring to the La Joya National Honor Society chapter.
