The American Dream isn’t always feasible; there are always obstacles that have to be gone through in order to get to the end. One of these obstacles include the actual dream itself. It is nearly impossible to perfectly get the dream that is wanted by nearly everyone. In order to get a good job you have to get into a really great college, and in order to do that you have to have good grades, or be a stellar athlete. “Today, the real opportunities are hidden. They hide behind doors that only a combination of knowledge and wisdom can earn” (Llopis). This is hard for not everyone is the next Albert
First off, we must understand the definition of this so called, “American Dream”. Now in a way this can either be true or false. You could either strive for success and work your entire life to make it to the “White picket fence”, or you could be born with a silver spoon and literally have everything you needed in life just given to you. This is also a lifestyle we all sought out to be an easy task to live every day in this “American Dream.” Let’s look into some readings that actually tell about these thoughts.
The american dream is the process of ripping off a band-aid because it can be scary and hard, but it is worth it in the end. People can be scared to take off the band-aid and it may take a lot of work to get it off, but they realize it was good to do. The American Dream has become more and more of a challenge to everyone with college debt, freedom, and the economy. Many people are realizing that the American Dream is more of a reality than a myth, for the reason that there are many obstacles they have to go through just so they can accomplish their goal. The American Dream represents the amount of freedom that you have and not letting anyone to stop you based on your race, class, or gender. This goal that you are trying to accomplish is a goal that you are working really hard towards, it also defines the type of person you are with all the work you put into it. Every person in the United States is given an opportunity to achieve their goal, there are some people who accomplish it and use everything that they have wisely, and there are other people who also accomplish it but they don't appreciate everything that they have, and because of this occurring the American dream has become more of a reality than a myth.

Have you ever thought about a goal of yours and decided to throw it out because you felt as though it was impossible to accomplish? Well, that is how a great deal of Americans feel about their future, but it should be known that it is still possible through hard work and determination. The American dream is the idea that every citizen should have equal rights in things they do. By finishing high school and going to college to study about the career field a person would like to go into, then by doing that one is prepared to be successful. The American Dream is still accessible because those who are successful can achieve it, and those who have the freedoms can reach it, but because the focus has shifted to poverty levels, it may not be accessible to all.
Since 1776, the “American Dream” has continued to evolve. Originally, our forefathers intended the American Dream to be a country where individuals were free from the tyranny of royalty and nobility, working as a part of a whole, making everyone comfortable and happy - all men created equal with equal opportunity. Over the years, this original intent has continued to change. In 1931, James Truslow Adams stated that the American Dream means that, “life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone, with opportunity for each according to ability or achievement” (Wikipedia, May 19, 2016). Today, dictionary.com defines the American Dream as, “a life of personal happiness and material comfort as traditionally sought by individuals in the United States” (May 19, 2016). To a young person growing up in an ever-changing, global society, the American Dream means finding a way to live comfortably the way you grew up, trying to do a little bit better than your parents did so you could give your own children a good life. This includes a house, cars, and other material comforts that have become integrated into American society. The American Dream not only still exists, but is also attainable for all. If an individual is able to work hard, if one is able to harness their creativity, or even if one finds “other” means, the American Dream is within reach, as shown in the novel, The Great Gatsby, as well as in other forms of popular American media.
