Understanding God’s role for humanity is the essential aspect of the Christian faith. Through the teachings of the Bible one learns about God, his creation, the Fall of humanity, redemption and its restoration. Since the beginning of time and the creation of the universe, humankind has always been God’s most prized creation. Once mankind was seduced by evil and disobeyed God, he had to punish man and has spent eternity trying to restore people back to his or her original nature and purpose. This paper will briefly discuss God, his role in humanity, Jesus, restoration with my analysis and reflection on the Christian faith.
God
God is all powerful, unchanging and ever-present and has many other attributes which make him personal to humankind. He is also good, faithful, loving and holy. One can realize God’s attributes through his creation of humankind as many of God’s attributes are visible within them. God is the sovereign creator of the universe. According to DiVincenzo (2014) “Genesis 1 and 2 present God as the sole Creator of all things”. As the Creator of all he is also the Lord over all. It is also important to note that God exists as a Triune being which means he exists in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. One can learn about the involvement of all three persons in creation from the beginning of Genesis 1 to Hebrews 1:2 in the New Testament. Following the creation of the first man and woman, Adam and Eve (Gen 2:7, NIV), God commanded them not to eat of the
As we look back on history we can see that human beings have made great strides as well as suffered many setbacks in our development of fundamental doctrines and/or beliefs by which we live and view the world. These foundational beliefs have provided the framework for which all civilizations preserve, cooperate, and govern their way of life. Certainly throughout history, the spread of Christian theology and doctrine has been influential in establishing and developing a deeply rooted theistic and biblical worldview foundation; thus being the center of much debate. In light of the various views within Christian theology, we will focus specifically on doctrine that is foundational to the Christian
The first four chapters of Genesis indicate that God is the eternal Creator the universe; that God communicates with His creation and evaluates his own work, and that God is sovereign, exercising “supreme authority and absolute power over all things” (Lecture 2, para. 5). There is but one true God, who exists as a Triune Being and is three Persons in one essence; a Divine essence which exists wholly, invisibly, simultaneously and eternally, within three members of the one Godhead—God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit (Lecture 2, para. 7). Harmoniously linked, “each divine figure of the Trinity exercises dominion over creation and is involved in the biblical narrative in its own unique, yet cooperative, way” (Johnson, p. 178). The unity of the Trinity not only illustrates the full divinity of God, the immeasurable power, benevolence, wisdom and omnipresence distinctly setting Him apart from His creation, but also shows that He is the source of all that is good, true, beautiful, loving, just, and
In Genesis the divine power is God, and one God only. The opening sentence in Genesis refers to one power. That power is also omnipotent. Evidence for that is seen on page eight when God gives clear instructions not to eat “from the tree of knowledge.” This sets up the relationship between humans and God: humans must first seek God’s will. This culture believes all who follow his guidance will be blessed; while all those who go astray will find distress. Just as Adam and Eve found when the ate from the tree of knowledge, and God acrimoniously “terribly sharpen birth pangs, in pang shall you bear children ...”, as well as other deleterious consequences. (Genesis, page 13).
This paper will address God, Humanity, Jesus, Restoration, Analysis and Reflection. The debate, research, questions, and conclusions of the existence of God has been happening for thousands of years. Great minds have pondered Him and His Word, the Bible. There have been different opinions and worldviews about God, His Son Jesus Christ and Heaven. Not everyone agrees on any particular view. Humanity has never been the same since the Fall in the Garden of Eden. Some love, some hate. Others are kind, others kill. Jesus was sent to restore mankind’s relationship with God. To be the perfect sacrificial lamb in order for humankind to be saved and spend eternity in Heaven with God. The only way to achieve peace in the
God can be a very controversial subject depending on who you are talking to in this day and time; some people believe, some believe in other Gods and then there are other groups who do not believe in anything beyond this life. God has always had to deal with those who do not believe. God has been persecuted since the beginning of time and has proven over and over that is very much who he says he is. This paper will give you a better understanding of who God is, how humanity is affected by their beliefs, who Jesus is and how he is the way to the heavenly father and creator as well as how restoration will impact our lives as well as the beliefs I hold in God and how everything he created relies on the next in some way to survive.
A proper assessment from a biblical-anthropological perspective needs to take into account the image of God as part of human nature. The three dimensions of the image of God (relational, structural and functional) form the core of human nature. Humans are relational beings with the structural capacity to relate to others and fulfill their purpose in this life. These three dimensions were damaged or affected after the Fall. As discussed previously, normality and pathology are connected with the sinful human condition.
Who is God? God is the creator of all according to the Christian worldview. As Christians we believe that God is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. (Diffey, 2015, Ch. 3) We trust that God be existent in three persons. After reading the Genesis chapters, I understood that God
A worldview is the way a person views and interprets the world around them. Life experiences and spiritual influences play a part in forming one’s worldview. A person’s worldview helps them to determine beliefs on creation, humanity, morals and what happens after death. According to Waddell, (2014) “Worldviews are also like lenses found in eyeglasses that serve as the means through which a person sees the world.” (para. 43) In this paper, the main components of the Christian worldview will be discussed, to include God, humanity, Jesus, restoration and analysis of Christian Faith as well as a reflection of my own beliefs.
When you look around and gaze at the beautiful creation before you, do you reflect on how amazing God is? God made the creation, man, and everything surrounding the two. There are many different worldviews. This paper will focus on the Christian worldview. The Christian worldview involves God, humanity, Jesus, and restoration.
“In the God created the heavens and the earth.” (Genesis 1:1) God existed before all of His creation, therefore He is the sovereign creator. He created all to be good in His perfect wisdom. Though God is invisible, He has several distinct characteristics; compassionate, faithful, infinite, just, wise and all-powerful.
There are many different opinions as to what is true when it comes to religion. All over the globe, many diverse cultures look up and pray to a variety of gods or perhaps none whatsoever. Yet, how does one define what is existent? What is truly divine and worthy of the utmost worship and praise? As humans, we are limited to fully comprehending and understanding exactly who God is and what the afterlife looks like. This paper will discuss the aspects of the Christian faith viewing God, humanity, Jesus, Restoration and the Christian Worldview, as well as, a reflection of what I believe in my own personal life.
God is our creator; He came before us and created the universe as we know it. “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth”
The purpose of this book is meant to create a foundation for Christian lifestyles. It addresses the origin of Christian values, and portrays the evolution of Christian worldviews throughout history. It briefly explains the biblical narrative and develops ideas in which Christians are able to live out their faith and deal with other worldviews existing in our world today.
Through out history, as man progressed from a primitive animal to a "human being" capable of thought and reason, mankind has had to throw questions about the meaning of our own existence to ourselves. Out of those trail of thoughts appeared religion, art, and philosophy, the fundamental process of questioning about existence. Who we are, how we came to be, where we are going, what the most ideal state is....... All these questions had to be asked and if not given a definite answer, then at least given some idea as to how to begin to search for, as humans probed deeper and deeper into the riddle that we were all born into.
This paper will approach each aspect of God Divine decrees, from a biblical standpoint and His plan of salvation. The working of God’s plan includes three periods in time:
