If things are recorded as achieved, which are only almost achieved, then the observation is not valid. Next steps cannot be planned as it may be a huge step for the child if they have not yet achieved the previous step
• Avoiding bias
. Sometimes it can be useful for a second person to assess a child as observations can be very subjective. It is also useful to use a wide variety of methods of assessment. Things need to be recorded according to what is exactly happening and should not be interpreted according to the assessors point of view.

• Assessment Framework/s
Assessment frameworks are the way in which a child is assessed to see whether they have any particular needs, what they are and how we can help them be met. It is useful in deciding whether a child has reached expected milestones. Assessment frameworks may be summative or formative. Formative assessments are used to check progress and helps us to consider learning opportunities needed to progress. The ongoing observations we do of children are formative assessments. They inform the next steps of the childs learning. Summative assessment provides staff with information about the attainment of knowledge and is usually measured against a benchmark or standard. For example, the EYFS assessment which is done toward the end of the reception year. This “sums up” all the different information from

A child will be assessed by an educational psychologist if there are concerns about their intellectual, communication and behavioural development. Assessments can be arranged by the SENCO or independently. The aim of the assessments is to find out why the child is not progressing and what support is needed in order for them to progress. Specific learning difficulties are often identified in this way such as Dyslexia, AHAD, Dyspraxia. Support and targets for the child are then set to help them achieve. The outcome of the assessments may involve the child referred to other professionals e.g. occupational therapist, optometrist, speech and language therapist, psychiatrist. The psychologist will advise the school on how to promote development for example, keeping verbal instructions simple. Keep stories and group activities short to match attention span.
Anecdotal, observations are not viewed by another party i.e. a parent or another pupil you add what you have been informed of into the child’s files it can help to keep development records up to date can help you to learn about children in different situation s
A/c 1.2 The benefit of using a child centred model of assessment and planning is that you concentrate on the person and their specific and individual set of needs and circumstances. A child centred model promotes the rights of the child and allows them to communicate and say what they want for themselves. When children are moved to make the correct choice and take a lead using this type of assessment they tend to succeed as they develop their needs. Children and young people’s needs can be identified through observation and the sharing of information between those that are involved in the care of the young people or children. Indeed, there are lots of experiences that I learned throughout the whole process. From the first one which is introduction, until to the final draft. Confusion, depression, and insecure are always there when I submitted each of the assignments. I am so scared not to get my desire score, and it makes me feel really sick. I always tried my best for the past assignments, so that I could satisfy my desire score. Moreover, there are two things that are vitals toward my essay. Clear thesis statements and answer the question correctly are the most two things that I am lack at. For thesis statement, I do consume a lot of time to produce the thesis, and it has been an extremely hard job for me. The second one, I am a type person that is really careless.
