Unit 1 Sport Research Paper

Sports have been a huge part of my life ever since I was about five years old. It has impacted my life so much. The biggest challenge that I faced was with my injuries during basketball and soccer season. I recently had to quit soccer and basketball, which was difficult for me.

I found my love for athletic activity at a young age. When I was 7 years old, I was enrolled in a YMCA summer program in Michigan. That is where it all started. My summer days were filled with various sport activities. Unfortunately, when I moved to California at the age of 10, I stopped playing sports for at least a year. However, during the rest of elementary school, throughout middle school, and in high school, I played different sports to figure out which one I liked best, which is now, Track & Field.

Clea attends music lessons every 2 weeks, dance class every 3 weeks, and has a dental appointment every 6 weeks. If she attended all three this week, when will she attend all three again? Clea will attend all 3 in 6 weeks.

I have always enjoyed being involved in school activities. By the end of my high school career, I will have played volleyball and golf all four years. Although I was never the superstar or the best on the team for either sport, I always enjoyed playing and being supportive of my teammates. Getting involved with a team and making new friends has been half the fun. Not only do I play sports, but I also enjoy attending other sporting events. Growing up in Louisiana I was surrounded by all kinds of different physical activities. All of my siblings were involved in sports and it was only natural that I developed a love for them too. As a child I remember going to the park to play basketball with my cousins or just playing football with everybody from the neighborhood. Sports became a huge part of my life, and I surrounded myself with people who loved them just as much as me. Things began to change when my family and I moved to Georgia. I noticed that I wasn’t playing football in the neighborhood anymore. The kids were different they would rather sit in the house and play video games instead of being outside. My love for sports was always there I just needed a spark to bring my passion back to life.

Sports have always been a major part of my life. Since the beginning, I have always been involved in some type of sport. I am the middle child of two boys, so i wasn’t exactly “girly”, I was mainly considered a “tomboy.” I tried gymnastics, but it just wasn’t my thing, I stuck to a bat and a ball. Growing up there wasn’t a time when you wouldn’t find my brothers and I, or my dad and I outside throwing pitch. We all played baseball/softball, so it was kinda our thing just to go out and play a game of wiffle ball.

After taking 2 out of the 3 from the Colorado Rockies, the Mets currently sit 9.5 games out of second wild card spot in the National League. It would have been nice for to the Mets end up sweeping the Rockies and end the weekend 7.5 games out. With 7 games remaining on the home stand, I believe that if the Mets want to be involved in a discussion for the wild card spot, they will need to at least win 5 of the games. With 4 games against the Cardinals and 3 against the lonely Oakland A’s, it won’t be easy. College sports isn't what everyone makes it out to be. Some people relate college sports to High School sports only to the extent of: it's a level harder. Many feel that college sports isn't that big of a deal. What little people know is being a collegiate athlete is a job. The life ou hae is set out for you on the court. Most of the free time off the court is spent doing homework. There's hardly any time for a social life, and or time for your family. Being a collegiate athlete isn't just about playing sports anymore, this is your job.

Catastrophic injury is devastating not only to the injured athlete, but also to the athlete’s family, school and community. The Washington Post indicated that an estimated 800 thousand boys and girls take part in high school sports yearly. This demonstrates how high school sports is a major part of the school extra curricular activity. In Daniel Gould article "Are High School Sports Good For kids?" he found that students who took part in high school sports got educational benefits and extracurricular activities have positive effects on adolescents .Experts may argue that high school sports allow kids to be physical active, but they must also recognize the clear dangers. Playing high school sports come with serious consequences and life altering changes such as physical injuries, peer pressure and psychology effects.

I have an avid interest in sports although I am mainly interested in two. I have played Gaelic football for Newry Mitchels G.F.C from I was 9 years old. Although I have not experienced much success I have made many friends and learned a lot about teamwork and self-discipline. I also play Basketball for my school team.
