There are three different weather bands in each hemisphere, they are trade winds, polar easterlies, and prevailing westerlies. The fastest moving current in the worlds’ ocean is the Gulf Stream. The quickly flowing, warm current originates in the Gulf of Mexico in the Atlantic and flows north along the east coast.
Storm relative velocity is the speed of the winds within the storm after eliminating the motion of the storm itself. It is like base velocity which is the speed of everything in the way of the radar’s beam. However, base velocity is relative to the earth and storm relative velocity is relative to the storm. For base velocity, this means that the speed of the storm and the winds within it are added together to show a total velocity from outside the storm. In order to get storm relative velocity, you must subtract the velocity of the storm relative to the earth from the velocity of the winds within the storm relative to the earth. These measurements are taken from a radar that detects the motion of storms and everything in its field of vision. The radar is used to measure both base velocity and storm relative velocity. The radar detects how fast something is moving towards the radar or away from the radar. Anything moving towards the radar has a negative velocity and anything moving away from the radar has a positive velocity.
Over these past few months, newspapers have exclaimed at the excessive amount of dirt being whipped around the Midwest, and the gigantic walls of dust that have seemed to engulf everything and anyone in it’s path. Schools have been made into makeshift Red Cross hospitals and pictures everywhere have shown adults and children wearing gas masks, like the ones soldiers used in WWI. Dozens of families, or okies, flee to the cities everyday in an attempt to escape the dust, but some of the poorer and more courageous families have decided to stay at home to wait for the day that rain will once again replenish their fields. Interested in all of the commotion, I decided to request permission from NBC to venture out to these Great Plains, in order to learn about the significant impact these dust storms and droughts were having on the area. After receiving
Throughout this assignment I have learned that there are many things that go into making a weather forecast. I realized that it takes a lot of research to precisely forecast the high and low temperatures as well as the weather and surface features for each day. There are a variety of models to choose from for weather forecasting, but I have to figure out which one was best based on my atmospheric situation.
Does North America receive most of its winds from the Northeast Trades, the Southeast Trades, or from the Westerlies?
H2o co2 and h2co3 help in the dissolution of limestone and which produces bi carbonate which helps in the forming of caves and landscapes.
Weather is the state of the atmosphere at a given time and place, with respect to variables such as temperature, moisture, wind velocity, and barometric pressure. Weather can be classified as day to day temperature and precipitation activity, where climiate is average atmospheric conditions over longer periods of time. Weather occurs from temperature and moisture differences between one place and another. These differences can occur due to the sun angle at any particular spot. The strong temperature contrast between polar and tropical air gives rise to the jet stream. Weather systems in the mid-latitudes, such as "extratropical cyclones", are caused by instabilities of the jet stream flow. Because the Earth's axis is tilted
Communication and interaction between military forecasters is a vital role in battle, but sometimes cannot be achieved. A local man by the name of Rev. Dr. Michael Jacobs had a strong passion for meteorology away from lecturing Mathematics. He kept detailed reports and took weather observations three times a day. As a result, Rev. Dr. Jacobs published a paper in 1885 titled ‘Meteorology of the Battle’3 which detailed the specific aspects of the weather. This outlined very basic data such as temperature and cloud type during each day of the battle, providing important metrological information which has been utilized in hindsight as this real time information was never available to the commanders at Gettysburg. Of course, one of the greatest
“It had past for only a minute but still destroyed so much” a survivor of the Tri-State tornado had said about his experience with tornado. During the 40 minutes that the tornado had occurred buildings and homes were destroyed and massive damage was caused. The tornado had made about 219 miles of destruction on it’s tracks. The tornado also had a diameter of more than a mile. This tornado was massive and destroyed about everything it touched.
There are many categories for hurricanes, but a category 5 is the worst. But there are also many ways to prepare for a hurricane. But there are also safe, easy, and right ways to prepare for a hurricane also. There are many ranks that a hurricane can have. The rinks go 1-5 a five being the worst. According to “Google”, there have been 33 hurricanes that have retained a category 5 status in the Atlantic. And 17 had been recorded to have 175 mph wind or greater.
)Why do you believe you should be part of the staff team for CycloneNetwork? I want to become a helper to help out the community. I want to work and do the job as a helper, I don't want the rank just to have it. I actually want to work and do the job as a helper. I want to also help out the forums. I would solve and handle reports. The job as a helper is a big responsibility and I want to do the job. I want to help the community and the server to become a better place. I would try my best to improve the community. I would do the job and try my best to become a better person. I would spend time in each server to make sure that that there isn't any rule breakers. I am also very active in this community everyday which means I could spend a lot
To begin,In order to prepare for a cat 5 storm a person should 100% buy a lot of water and food. Also a person should buy a generator for when the power goes out. The Midwest doesn’t get hurricanes but their outcome is tragic. Hurricanes can cause much destruction and even death. Hurricane Otto included many details common to hurricanes and caused damage and destruction to property and lives that affected the region, but the area has recovered in its aftermath.
A way a person can prepare for a category 5 hurricane can be in many different types of ways. For example gathering supplies, creating an emergency plan for your family, evacuating if it's recommended or mandatory. Furthermore, prepare for power outages, ready your house for flooding, stay away from windows if there is heavy wind, lastly remain cautious after a storm passes. Additionally people should think ahead of time before a hurricane comes. Therefore safety comes first during a hurricane and people should do whatever it takes to survive.
A storm that occurred on June 29, 2015, caused significant damage to twenty-seven (27) buildings and nine (9) garages owned by Rice Creek Townhouses. All buildings are located in Fridely, MN and used as residential rental units and garages.
Weather is created by the movement of air masses of different temperature and moisture content moving around the Earth’s atmosphere and interacting with each other.
