The University of Chicago is located in Hyde Park and serves the South Side of Chicago, including the neighborhoods of Hyde Park, Oakland, North Kenwood, and Woodlawn. This area of Chicago is known to be diverse and culturally developed. Although, it is a lively community, the South side of Chicago is a poverty-stricken community. The community suffers from many health disparities due to low income, limited access to health care, unemployment, violence, and limited education ("Community," 2016). Around the late 1800s, the University of Chicago became involved with medicine and opened a facility for patients in the year 1927 ("A Brief History," 2016). The University of Chicago Hospital grew and began to merge with other organizations, such as Crippled Children. Turner was a young teenager who was shot in a drive by near the University of Chicago hospital. He was turned down from the hospital because they had no trauma center as he was in a serious condition and needed to be treated in a trauma center. The nearest one was Northwestern Hospital, which was much further than U of C Hospital. He was pronounced dead on the way to Northwestern Hospital (ABC7 Chicago, 2015). Being an area with a high rate of violence, the South Side needs a trauma center to meet the growing needs of its population. The University of Chicago hospital is currently in the process of planning to add a trauma center for this reason. Many residents have been protesting and campaigning for action to be taken in building the center, but it has not been easy to make a change mainly due to financial issues. NTSH is a mental healthcare facility that has two campuses: one department is located in Wichita Falls, TX and the other in Vernon, TX. There are more than 5 hospitals on Chicago’s south side near the Englewood neighborhood, which is where majority of the crimes take place. Within it the highlight of Damian Turner, a 18 year old teen who was killed in August of 2010, death gassed an ongoing debate on why none of the hospitals on the south side of Chicago had trauma centers- the only hospitals that had trauma centers were the hospitals on Chicago’s northwest side, which is at the minimum 45 minutes from any of the south side hospitals. Additionally, the IT staff at Jones supports 300 applications and 12,000 workstations. The center uses Technology Med (TechMed) for their admitting system. The system includes registration, inpatient charge, payment entry, master patient index, admission, hospital billing, and more. On 02/012016, at approximately 1833hrs, Officer Estimond unit 3610 was dispatched to a reported subject urinating inside of the train located on the southbound platform at Doraville station.. Once Estimond made contact with Mullins, he realized that Mullins was staggering and unable to stand alone. Officer Estimond also smelled the scent of alcohol coming from Mullins breath. Mullins was arrested for Drunkennes and transfered to Doraville city jail. Doraville refused to intake Mullins because of his drunkenness. officer Estimond returned with Mullins back to Doraville Station and called for an Ambulance to respond.
