I feel I deserve a scholarship to the UWGB band camp because I am always trying to improve my music. To improve my music, I like playing out of music books outside of school so i can play many different types of music. I also like challenging myself to try new music and do things that i thought that i could never do. A big challenge for me was learning the World's Largest pep band music. It was a lot of fun practicing and playing high school level music. I loved playing in the pep band. Going off of that, i plan to stick with band for a long time. My sister does lots of band activities and they look so much fun. Seeing how much fun it is makes me want to take all of the musical opportunities that i can get. Also, i work hard for my lesson grades.I
I have chosen to write about one of my favorite alternative rock band, Red Hot Chili Peppers from Los Angeles, California. My decision was based upon two things; one being I like the band, while the other was to learn if some of their music is sending the wrong message to our young people. I personally would not consider myself music sappy; never have I really been given a chance to listen to music as I grew up, to find what I like. As of today, I don’t know who sings what song nor really know what the lyric’s mean. With today’s environment young people are given a chance to be inspired by different kinds of media; thus giving them the opportunity to actually find out what the artist is meaning behind the songs. After interviewing four participation;

About three weeks into marching season, a spot opened up. Of course, I had to audition for the spot with the other alternates, but I was successful in winning a marching spot at that time and have never lost it. I also worked hard on becoming a better musician. I drastically increased my practice time and was fortunate enough to be able to hire a private tutor to improve my musical abilities. Now in my senior year I am in the top band and I am on the varsity marching squad. I have even obtained a leadership role in the band as a rank leader. As a rank leader I am a mentor and coach for several other students in the marching band. I really feel like I am providing these student the same thing that Zack Santos provided for me. It makes me feel good that I am assisting other kids in achieving their
I believe that I should be a recipient of the North Iowa Fire Scholarship because I have spent countless hours in the gym. Committing my summers to nothing more then playing basketball and I would not trade any of it away. All of the car rides and late nights have gotten me to where I am now. I worked with the Fire to become a better basketball player, but I have received far more. The friendships, life lessons, and memories that were formed in my six years with the North Iowa Fire will stick with me throughout my life and I am so grateful to have been blessed with this
I believe I should be selected as a Georgia Southern scholarship recipient because while I currently live in South Carolina, I was born in Georgia and I still like to call Georgia my home. I also have 3 younger siblings, which has lead to me having a higher level of responsibility and maturity than many of my peers. My family has also been placed in a difficult financial situation due to my father losing his job in the oil industry, last August. This lead my family to move from Oklahoma after he found a job in South Carolina.
Rivers Cuomo, Patrick Wilson, Matt Sharp, and Jason Cropper formed the alternative rock group known as Weezer in 1992 in Los Angeles, California. The band went through several names before lead singer Rivers Cuomo christened the band as Weezer after his childhood nickname due to his asthma.
A love of marching band acts as fuel for the commitment the members put into it. The activity has rapidly grown into an important event I look forward to in the fall and whenever there is an upcoming event. Likewise, the band room has created a home. Marching season brings out excitement and determination in me in wanting to put on the best show we can. Moreover, band has inspired me to become my better self through physical, mental, and emotional challenge. It has helped boost my confidence as well. Overall, I have definitely grown as a person because of marching band. I would love to have a role within the student leaders of a sport and art that has
Being in the UNCG Honors Band was the best experience I've had with an outside band. The band itself was made out the most talented high school musicians in the states of North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, and Tenseness. I felt extremely proud that I had made this band and I felt that I had moved up from being just a high school musician to a serious musician just being around all these other students who were proficient or higher on their instrument. UNCG Honors Band was important to me because not only did I get my first real experience with a college band, but I got a first glimpse of what is to come for me as a tuba player.
I want to try to my best capability to help and further the potential of this band. Even though we are losing many great seniors this year- we can still pursue greater things. I have nearly been on leadership before and I understand the values and expectations that have already been set. I enjoy working alongside all the fellow students here in the band and can’t wait for next marching season!
7th Street Band returns to Ashkenaz with a one-night reggae festival showcasing singers and musicians it works with. The band plays its own music and serves as house band for Rocker-T, Dyimah & the Lioness Squad, plus Mony Lujan of Dubwize.
The band classes this year are really good. We have been practicing really hard music so we will be ready for the high school band. The first year you take an instrument test to find out what instrument you will play. After you find out what instrument you are going to play you have to go home and practice a lot.
One of the major turning points in Western popular music is rock and roll of the 1950s. This style of popular music was distinctive in its sounds and origins, as it was the first time white music was combined with race music successfully in mainstream media. Rock and roll reflected the social and cultural shifts that were occurring in American society after World War II, and music continues to reflect society and popular culture today. Rock and roll of the 1950s marked the shift of dominant musical influences from European (melodic) to African American music (rhythmic).
Rock and roll has many influences that evolved it into what it is today. Blues had a significant influence on the development of the music, as well as some classical ideas of the solo performer. Through these influences, rock and roll was born.
One of the greatest genres of music Rock and Roll evolved in the United States in the late 1940’s early 1950’s. This genre was known to be a mixture of gospel, blues, jazz, western swing, and country music. There are countless altered types of rock songs which means they can use different instruments but a few common instruments are drums, bass guitar, piano, and vocals which makes it a unique genre because although it is the same genre, each rock songs uses its own instruments and it’ll still make rock and roll music. Rock and Roll was a time of change in the dance field and inspired many people in the fashion industry and to mix different types of music to achieve a certain beat and with that, new trends will start occurring in society and
Rock’-n’-roll is constantly changing and evolving into specific sub-genres. Sub-genres break down a general genre of music into a more specific and sophisticated type of that category. For example, rock has many different branches including soft rock, southern rock, and hard rock. Rock in general typically has a lead electric guitar with a vigorous 4/4 beat produced by the drums.
