Considering lifetime goals, many people are unsure on how to prepare. They will either center around areas with no direction or only concern themselves with the subject with which they would like to be a professional in. This way they can find their passion or learn more about it. Since I was little, somewhere within deep myself, I have always strived to become someone who will be able to help others. The way I have come to realize how I can achieve this is to become a veterinarian. I will be able to help people who are unable to help the ones they love, their animals. From first glance, my current extra-curricular activities have nothing that remotely relate to my aspiration. With a wide range in activities, they range from being a team
Without dreams and goals, success is hard to achieve. In grade school, I decided to become something in the medical field because I wished to help people
Growing up, I was never really sure what to tell people when they asked what I wanted to do when I was older. Over the years I flip-flopped between a laundry list of possible professions: veterinarian, nurse, EMT, cosmetologist, and many more short-lived dreams. As I grew and learned from my life experiences, I realized
My sister Sarah had always dreamed of becoming a veterinarian, ever since she could be around the animals on our farm. A couple years after graduating college, Sarah decided to make her dream of becoming a vet a reality. Sarah applied to many veterinary schools, all the while being optimistic that she would be accepted, and was finally admitted to a veterinary college in Grenada. Sarah struggled constantly to receive good grades and maintain her schoolwork. Nevertheless, Sarah remained optimistic that she would finish veterinary school with exceptional grades, and achieve her childhood dreams. Finally, after five grueling years of veterinary school, Sarah graduated and fulfilled her dreams of becoming a veterinarian. Optimism inspired my sister to reach her dreams, making it one of her top
My goal in life is to pursue a career I will love participating in and commit to fully.
I used to tell my friends and teachers that I wanted to explore the medical field because that was what my family wanted me to do. They wanted me to become a doctor as it is a well praised profession that pays extremely well. As I grew older and entered middle school, I realized that becoming a doctor wasn’t something I was immensely interested in. Instead of a doctor, I wanted to become a veterinarian, treating animals instead of people. I’ve become aware of my passion for animals ever since I began having pets: from fish to hamsters to dogs. I decided to focus on animals when I first took one of my hamsters to a veterinarian. I thought that their profession was fun and interesting because it revolves around animals, something that I love and grown up with. Although studying veterinary sciences is difficult and competitive, becoming an animal doctor has been one of my greatest
As soon as I got to high school, everyone started asking me what I wanted to do after high school and what my goals were. What high school freshman knows what they want to do with their life? Very few, and I wasn’t one of them. I always knew that I would probably do something in the health field, partly because that’s what my dad did, but also because I’ve always had a heart for helping people, especially children. It wasn’t, however, until Junior year when I got my first job that I knew what I wanted to pursue as a career. Now before I go into what that career choice is and why, there is something which the reader must understand. My dad went to college and got his Master’s degree, my mom only had her high school diploma. Both of my parents agreed that all of their children should go to college, so for me the question wasn’t “should I go to college?”, but rather, “where should I go, what should I do, and how will I stay out of debt?”
As I day dream as a child of the unlimited things that I could do, my attention was always drawn to being a veterinarian. Every day is a constant struggle with myself to strive for the better and keep my goals in mind. I have completed many extra-curricular activities and still need more in order to be successful in this career path.
From my early childhood, I was only ever interested in two things—music and animals. Occasionally, I would introduce myself to new hobbies or try to find interest in other things; but my attraction to music and animals seemed to thrive. In realizing that, a career in music or veterinary medicine sparked my interest. I became so confident with my possible career choices that, whenever asked “What do you want to be when you grow up?” without hesitation I would reply, “I’m going to be a veterinarian” or “a musician.” Because I’ve said this numerous times, my confidence in it has led me to know what I want my future to withhold; and leads me to often think to myself with assurance, I’m going to have an important role in the lives of both human
I, on the other hand, have always know the general area that I want to work in; ever since about the age of five I have wanted to work with animals. Within this past year, I have decided on becoming a veterinary technician. Therefore, after graduating high school, I desire to attend North Dakota State University and complete their veterinary technology program. From there, I will work with animals although I have not decided whether I wish to work in an animal clinic or in a zoo with exotic species. So not only has this year been educational for me, but I have narrowed down what I wish to do in
As a kid, becoming a Veterinarian was my goal. I would always watch how actual Veterinarians helped dogs and cats do surgery with the proper equipment needed to do precise care and help the animal needed. These Veterinarians just would go and give what the animals need and problem solved like magic. I know it’s not magic, it’s experience, so I know that I will have to be an Intern and do a certain amount of training at a Veterinarian hospital first to get that experience.
I have chosen for my careers to become a veterinarian and Pastoral Ministry. The reasons I chose to become a veterinarian are, there are many problems with animals that people don’t deal with. I believe it has become a problem in society and in our world today. Many animals are not taken care of properly for multiple reasons. I would like to change those many reasons and have my own clinic where it is possible for even stray animals to get help. I also chose as a secondary career to be a Pastoral minister. I chose this path because my on youth minister inspired and showed me what it means to help our younger generations in ways that most others now days cannot.
Having a sense of vocation towards a particular job is something that most people do not think about when choosing a career path. Vocation is defined as having a strong sense of suitability for a particular occupation, where as mine is Veterinary Technician. Many people look down on the occupation Veterinary Technician due to the low income and small amounts of schooling, but to me, that is not the case. I see an occupation that I will enjoy and look forward to doing everyday due to my love of animals. It has always been my biggest dream to work around animals, but that dream was pushed out of the way when I realized the income was not as much as I hoped. After a semester in college, I have come to learn that as long as I am happy, nothing else matters. With that being said, I plan to continue my education at Baton Rouge Community College and major in Veterinary Technician (Vet Tech). In the past few weeks I was given the chance to meet with a friend and attend job shadows to learn what it is to be a Vet Tech and I even got some insight on how people feel about the occupation.
Discovering one’s purpose in life can be a long, and adventurous journey. “The mystery of human existence lies not just in staying alive, but finding something to live for.” This quote by Fyodor Dostoyevsky is one that I base the foundation of my life’s purpose on. It pushes me to ponder on questions like what is my purpose in life? What was I put on this earth to accomplished? Who do I want people to remember me as? It was not until I began taking my New Student Experience class that I decided to find the answers to these questions. My personal goal is to find happiness in life and in everything I do by having a lasting impact on people, their lives and on the world. My educational goal is to get into one of the top medical schools in the U.S. to practice Obstetrics and Gynecology. Last, but not least, I would love to continue my career with an employer and a company that allows growth opportunities, the use of my skills, talents, and beliefs to help people achieve their personal goals in life. As a result of defining my purpose, I have felt a new sense of clarity.
I have always been fond of animals and as I matured I desired a career that would allow me to provide the health and quality of life for all kinds animals. I was reluctant to pursue a career in veterinary medicine because I was convinced that only geniuses could be Veterinarians and belief that I was a genius was quickly disputed in geometry. I slid through college, giving up on my dream left me pursing a career I was not passionate about which I regretfully let effect my academics. I went on to have a successful, yet unfulfilling career in marketing. I soon understood that having the house, the friends, and the bank account wasn 't enough. Realizing I would always have a keen awareness that I sold myself short, I decided to relentlessly pursue a second career in veterinary medicine. Being back in college l I have found that I have a strong aptitude in the biological sciences and greatly enjoy the challenging material.
I am very decisive, therefore I am always thinking about things. Since I have an active mind, I’ve always liked to run around in open spaces. Sometimes I drift off in thought, but I still managed to get back on track. One of my life goals is to work with animals. I have a dog named Reese and she is good practice for animal care. Someday I could be a Zookeeper, a vet, a pet store owner, or a dog walker. Another one of my life goals is to help people in any way. I could be a teacher and teach people. I want to make a difference in someone’s life and in the world. My determination and desire to help people may help reach my goals.
