When I saw the Postman Joseph Roulin painted by a genius artist (Vincent Van Gogh), the confused feeling was running to me. Unbelievably, the man wore the Postman uniform to let Gogh paint his portrait. The figure’s wearing is very different to others European paintings. Most of the European art figures dressed incredible gorgeous. The phenomenon shows that the social consciousness was adamant at that time, more importantly, the social mobility was difficult to execute. Comparing to modern society, people can change their positions through his or her achievements, luck, education and so on, but still have some developed country have the rigid class system, such as Britain. From an International business perspective, the situation will lose
Vincent van Gogh is one of the world’s most well-known artists. He was the son of a pastor and was brought up in a religious atmosphere. He thought his true calling was to preach the gospel like his father. He became a preacher in a small coal mining town. This is when he starting becoming very interested in the people and things that surrounded him. He became an artist at the age of 27.
When discussing post-impressionist artists one popular name is Vincent van Gogh. Though he is recognized today for his many vibrant works, he was virtually unknown until shortly after his death. Growing up poor, van Gogh went to work extremely early at his uncle’s Art dealership. There he was able to develop a passion for art. Over the course of the next seven years, he suffered from a traumatic love life that ultimately lead to him dedicating his life to the church. His religious outreach career was short lived before he returned to his lifelong passion of art (1880). Van Gogh continued traveling and creating art well into the late 1880’s where he found himself south of France (1888). This is ultimately where he lost his mind. On May 8th,
I have chosen Romanticism/ Post Impressionism, Olive Trees with yellow sky and sun, by Vincent Van Gogh; The Oxbow, by Thomas Cole, comparing it to the “Spirit Rising, by Christophe Vacher”.
Dear friend Dolcy, I am visiting the city of Arles located in the southwestern France. The city is prominent for the masterpiece “The Postman Joseph Roulin” painted by Van Gogh in the early August of 1888. Van Gogh painting has influenced the contemporarily art in the twenty century. In addition, the artist was a Post-Impressionist, with the ability to seize the intensity of emotion and the beauty in his artwork. I really appreciate Van Gogh portraits. Due to that, I want to discover the city of “The postman Joseph Roulin” which seduced the artist feelings. There is always a mystery behind each masterpiece in which only the artist detains the secret and the best explanation. However, according to my perception, Van Gogh displayed a portrait of a fervent postman to immortalize the only man who was close to him regardless how others seen him due to his mental disorder. I spent about one thousand and nine hundred seventy dollars for my thicket and I paid five hundred and ninety five dollar for my hotel “Hotel De L’ Amphitheatre” located on Route des Baux, 13990 Fontvieille, Arles, France where I will stay for seven days.
Visual opulence, creativity, inimitable vision, and a style that is highly influential are the many characteristics of an admired movement in art history, that being of the Post-Impressionism movement (1875-1892). This movement, which was a by-product of the Impressionism movement, is the bridging gap between the two movements known as Realism and Expressionism. Post-Impressionism takes on some of the stylistic characteristics of these movements; however, it does not contain the all too glossy visuals of Realism or the heavily fantastic visuals of Expressionism, rather it is the intermediary of these two poles. My paper will discuss why this link was absolutely essential to the history of art movements, and I will be specifically using the
In this response paper the event will be over Vincent Van Gogh. We went over a presentation of him. The presentation was in Art Appreciation Class at RSU. We watched a YouTube video about the starry night song and pictures of his paintings. In the music video by Don McLean Starry Starry night he sings about Van Gogh’s life.
Vincent Van Gogh is a very interesting artist that produced several works of art in just the ten short years that he painted. I had a chance to study Van Gogh in Art Appreciation. We watched a YouTube video in the fall 2015 semester of Art Appreciation on the Rogers State
To many Van Gogh is a household name, and an iconic tortured artist. Van Gough’s commitment to the spirituality with in man and nature led to his unique style and content that led to dramatic and emotional canvases, canvases that convey much more than just a subject.
I had watched a short video presentation on Vincent Van Gogh’s artwork that followed along with a song called “Vincent (Starry, starry night)” on Youtube. I watched this video with my class in Art Appreciation at Rogers State University.
Many discover life in the paintings of a dead artist in the most miniscule details: the number of colours used in a painting, the size of a flower, or the expression of a model. Looking back, one can remember how middle school art teachers would indulge our imaginations with lectures on the curiously complex intentions behind every colourful stroke of the painters brush. However, letters exchanged between artist reveal the truth behind not only the intentions of an artist but also the tactics used to create the sacrosanct works of art produced by one. Currently there are 844 surviving Vincent van Gogh letters, over 900 paintings, and over 1100 drawings. One man's life has been compiled into a medium sized pile of canvas, wood, and paper,
Its only by “bringing ourselves before Van Gogh’s painting” (350) that we allow for the art to do its work. So, what is an art’s work, other than this disclosure of the shoes in truth? Like racing to the subway, we fail to acknowledge the shoes-in-their-being through an overstimulation of the senses. Its this overstimulation that thwarts our ability to focus on the particular. The art work, however, is the lens by which the particular may come into focus. In a goal-oriented society, where tunnel vision often clouds our capacity to stop and take a look around, these works of art provide us with a novel outlook by making us stop and take that look around. “The nature of art would then be this” Heidegger writes, “the truth of being setting itself
The event was a YouTube video which contained a song written by Don McLean. We watched the video multiple times in class at Roger’s State University. The song was written about Vincent Van Gogh, and also contains the name of one of his well-known works, “The Starry Night”. It seems to have something to do with his possible suicide. Along with the music the video also showed multiple paintings and drawings that were done by Van Gogh. These works span through his whole career and are in no particular order.
Stranger on Earth by Albert J. Lubin is a psychological biography about the Vincent van Gogh. Vincent van Gogh was an extraordinary post- impressionist artist who had a tough and extrinsic life and lived with extreme sorrow and melancholy. Vincent’s art was ignored until after his assumed suicide in 1890. Lubin wrote about the troubles and tribulation Vincent endured and how much that affected his life. His misunderstood genius may be also correlated to his madness and despair in life. His posthumous fame led the way for other artist and influenced their art.
Vincent Van Gogh’s created a variety of artwork that featured objects in their natural setting. Van Gogh used elements to captivate what is shown. Cafe Terrace at Night is a painting that uses the medium of oil on canvas. Within the artwork, organic shapes form the intricate objects in this piece, to create the bigger picture. There are geometric shapes within objects such as ovals, squares, and rectangles. Tables that appear farther away lack detail from those closer to the front. The buildings are angled on the horizon, creating a street view perspective. In this piece, there is only a single vanishing point. Lines on the street directly point to the center of the piece, which shows a horse and carriage. Shutters and electrical lines are
