The pale ace donates terror and life threatening conditions. The blue shade in the eyes of girls give the impression of purity and innocent and make the audience believe that she is the fearful victim and hence convince them to watch the movie to find out the fate of the girl. The poster has an attractive appeal for the viewers since it opens the door for imaginations and interpretations in their mind and compels them to think about different things that the girl might has been facing and what would be the main storyline of the
The poster depicts that the movie is about a person who encountered a weird mist which is making him shrink every day. As his body is shrinking movement by movement he is going through huge terror. This brief story is creatively presented in the poster by the use of stylistic features. The structure and flow of the poster are very suttle and straightforward.
As writers and producers saw the amazing popularity and success of the movie Scream many other copy cat versions were made. Movies such as I Know What You Did Last Summer and Urban Legend all followed the same teen slasher format. Nothing is being left up to the movie viewer’s imagination anymore. Everything for the past thirty years was spelled out and given to the viewer, leaving the identity of the killer as the only form of mystery. The genre of horror was losing a very important battle. The bone-chilling movies of the past were giving way to the comedic teen movies of the present.
Wes Craven’s 1996 Scream was a cult classic that people still enjoy today. It was produced by 2 separate companies, Dimension films and Woods Entertainment. The movie combines all the cliches in horror movies, and it also gives you the perspective of the victims and how they would react with the knowledge of horror movies plus their opinion of the horror movies. The movie centers around Sidney Prescott and her struggles dealing with her mother’s rape and murder, and the idea of her convicting the wrong man of the murder. Once 2 people from her school get murdered a reporter tries to bring up the idea that the same man who murdered her mother might be killing the kids in present time. By the end of the movie they reveal who “Ghostface” is, it turns out
Over the past few weeks we have watched a few horror movies “Jaws, “The Others”, “Signs” and “Frankenstein” but today we are just focusing on these three movies: “Jaws”, “The Others” and “Signs”. “Frankenstein” was just a flat out boring movie because it was a movie that was black and white and it showed portrayed nothing about how it made the movie suspenseful and scary. “Jaws” was a movie that was made in 1975 which had nothing to scare people of this generation but at least they used appropriate techniques to make the movie suspenseful. “The Others was a movie that was made in 2001 and they did a excellent job of foreshadowing by stating the obvious at the beginning of the movie but the weird part was nobody got what they meant but with this said I don’t think that the movie had used better techniques than “Signs”, in “Signs” I think their techniques standed out the most primarily because of the special effects they used to make the movie jaw-dropping, blood curdling and eye-catching with this said I think the movie “Signs” did the best job in using the proper techniques to create suspense and fear in addition the director of the movie “Signs”, M. Night, Shyamalan, has been nominated for 2 Best Screenplay awards and 1 Best Director award for the movie “Signs” alone.
The movie poster that I have chosen is Maleficent, produced by Walt Disney and is released in year 2014. Movie poster is very important as it is considered as an advertisement for a particular movie. With containing the powerful visual elements of the movie such as the famous actors, movie title and attractive image, it can easily grab the audience’s attention. Some of the movie posters may include the main actor’s name as well. These visuals are vital to convey impactful messages to the audience and persuade them to watch. Maleficent is an example of using actress’s name to attract audience. The main actress name, Angelina Jolie is written in an elegant and simple black capital letters in serif typeface and is placed in upper part of the poster.
This poster looks the way it does because it seems to glorify war with many hot colors (red, orange and yellow) and being an exceptional warrior. The people in the background seem to be in pain and dying. There also appear to be rather large explosions in the background. It shows a courageous and powerful woman wearing an armor and having two swords on her both hands. This thing is indicating an incredible woman who have many monsters behind her, and she walks through them. It means that she killed the monsters, overcame her challenges, and destroyed the war to protect the world and maintain the piece. The poster also shows that the movie with a supper woman will be coming soon because the poster has ‘COMING SOON’ is bold and and capital with
Movie posters are meant to capture the audience’s interest and reel them into going to the movie they are each individually presenting. Some posters do their job in catching the audience’s attention and some just don’t create any interest. Whether it creates interest from the audience or not mainly depends upon the visual aspects of it. These aspects include alignment, repetition, contrast, balance, direction, color, and font. Other aspects that most posters try to achieve that aren’t necessarily visual are appealing to the audience, showing the purpose, and staying on the right side of ethics. Also most of all movie posters contain the aspects of ethos, pathos, and logos.
Craven’s films set new waves for future filmmakers to strive for. He was able to combine the brutal and the thoughtful into his films and tried to get into his mind and heart. Craven made some of films confrontational about what is going on in society or his films show moments that grab you at the throat. He uses different methods to capture his audience to really scare them. For example, in the first twenty minutes of Scream is intense, scary, and bloody and he captures the audiences attention with the first scene of the movie
A girl runs frantically through the woods trying to escape an axe wielding villain. The defenseless victim suddenly trips and collapses to the ground. The villain laughs wickedly as he lifts the axe above his head. The girl releases a final scream as the weapon quickly ends her life, causing the audience to go silent as they watch the villain drag away the lifeless body. Death, blood, guts, suspense, screaming, and terror are all just a few things to expect when watching a modern day horror film. What is horror? Horror can be defined as an intense feeling of fear, shock, or disgust. (Wilson) The description of horror is not very pleasant, but for some reason horror films are extremely popular. Why is this so? People are addicted to the
Horror films are movies that aim to elicit a strong physiological reaction in the viewer, such as raised heartbeat and fear. Three horror films by the names of Psycho, Scream and The Messengers will be analysed and compared to an episode of the popular children’s show Shaun the Sheep. Five elements will be addressed in this analysis, those being camera techniques, Mise-en-scene, Editing, Lighting and Sound.
The film that I have chosen as a case study for my final paper is: Pan’s labyrinth (2006) by director Guillermo del Toro, and it is a case of real-fantastic cinema. Here I present my essay entitled “ The narrative power of sound in Pan’s labyrinth “of Guillermo Del Toro . It will analyze the sound design , the identification of its elements, the ways in which they are presented and their interrelations, to understand and explain how these elements work together in conjunction with the visual image, to support the narration of the story. Consequently, this research seeks to answer the question: How does the sound in the film ‘Pans Labyrinth' relates to
My design is a teaser poster for the movie “Dangerous Liaisons”. This design is dark and mysterious to illustrate the atmosphere of the movie. Therefore, the technique I learnt was how to deliver the characteristics of the object through graphic design. A design that represents a product must be able to illustrate its key ideas and have some special features to attract the audience. In this case, the special feature is the mixing of different textures of many layers, which is another method of design that I improved. Overall, through this task, I gained some new knowledge about both April Greiman and Photoshop
A disheveled man carries a scantily clad young woman in his arms while staring intensely into her eyes. She holds his gaze, but doesn’t appear to be as interested in him as he is in her. The background is ablaze, and the foreground is interposed with three separate images. The first is a group of men on horseback, racing down a street, the man on the lead horse is approached by a woman in a cascading white gown, her arms raised either begging him to stop, or bidding farewell. The second image is a path leading away from the woman up to an elaborate, well-maintained home. The final image is one of a couple in a carriage racing away from a burning city behind them. It is clear from the intimate pose of the couple featured at the top, and the
The details are very well developed and well thought out. The use of the different graphics and designs allow the movie to be more interesting. The advertisement itself has a twist to it, rather than what an audience is used to in a commonly told Cinderella movie. Based on, the colors and background of the advertisements allows a mysterious feel what this movie has to offer. This advertising leaves a sense that the movie is going to be very interesting. Through the use of different of colors, images, and what they have to offer allows the movie to want to be build. The use of the actress with the incorporation of the title allows the movie ad to have a sense of unique details. The sense of the dominant mood created allows an audience be appealed to the excitement of what the movie will
My paper might not looks like stylistic analysis but I’m sure of that in stylistic analysis there is part of symbolization and the other ways of stylistic approach could be cinematography, imaginative approaches in this film. As this film is animation, it could be understood by reader’s various imaginative thinking. The way of expression is bigger than non-animation.
