The very first album that I owned was Coldplay’s “Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends.” In my opinion, it is the best album the Britpop band has yet to release. I couldn’t wait to come home after school to drop my bag at the door, run up the stairs and listen to Viva la Vida on my brother’s hand-me-down iPod. Each track had a different blend of guitar bridges, catchy melodies, and booming drumbeats. Everything down to the cover artwork of an old French painting of a battle during the first French Revolution was amazing. Nearly a decade later, I had the opportunity to visit France on a school spring break trip But as I walked along the timeworn hardwood floors from painting to painting with my tour guide and travel mates, I stopped

When I was seventeen years old and going into my senior year of high school I was given the opportunity to go on a trip to Spain with my school. It was a two week trip during the summer, visiting different cities and historical sites throughout the country. While we
Consider how the call to be a Christian lead to a transformed life and informs your perception of the other two callings (vocational and immediate).
Mi Vida Loca means “my crazy life (as a girl).” The movie documents the phenomenon of female gangs in the early nineties in Los Angeles. It is written and directed by Allison Anders, who grew up in Los Angeles and went to UCLA. She uses personal experiences to help influence her story writing. In Echo Park, a group of young Mexican-Americans show what it means to live in the inner city. The film looks at gang lifestyle from a woman’s point of view to uncover relationships, conflicts, gang loyalty, and identity. The “homegirls” portray their female friendships through their daily lives of survival in Echo Park. It is a rough life with almost every “homegirl” having a baby by the time they are twenty-one and almost every
The Essentials of a Good Life by Diane Ravitch was an essay that really got me rethinking what we call the school system today. It felt extremely relatable since I have spent over 13 years in school and I recognize almost all the points she made about the problems with school today. Many of her main points have to do with how schools are too focused on standardized testing and how they don’t teach creativity in school. This is a big problem in today’s society because school seems to be doing a lot less of what it was first meant to do which is prepare their students for the future. After reading her essay I believe we shouldn’t be focused on standardized testing and we should be spending more time teaching students how to be leaders, independent, and creative because these are qualities that promote success in today’s society.
The Good Life party picked the name ‘The Good Life’ because we feel strongly that life must be preserved. While the government is doing what they can to keep people alive and safe, there are still some issues, like abortion, the death penalty, and guns, that if resolved, would keep more people alive. Humans are not God, and therefore we cannot make the decision about whether someone gets to live or die. For example, we are pro-life when it come to abortion. Every abortion takes away an innocent life. We are also against the death penalty because no crime is worthy of being sentenced to death. The Good Life is also pro gun control because with guns so easy to get, they can easily end up in the wrong hands, resulting in shootings, which causes
What is Happiness? Well, In Brave New World, by Aldous Huxley (great book by the way), the people that lived in this dystopian world, called World State, had a motto/goal that they believed that it provided them happiness; “Community, Identity, and Stability.” Which basically meant that you have no individuality, so that your community has stability. In addition to that, all they did was have sex and drugs which made them oblivious to how their “perfect” society is not so perfect. They also scientifically altered how humans reproduced, so instead of being born from the womb, people were being “born” from tubes, and in those tubes, they prepare you for the job or role you will be forced to do for the rest of your life. The best part? They use
On, Thursday, Novemver 22nd, 2053, Peter (10) and Wendy (10) Hadley locked their parents George and Lydia Hadley in their Happylife Home crystal-walled, dimensional superreactionary nursery room powered through supersensitive colour film and mental tape film behind glass screens.
Another fantastic day spent with Jett. Jett was in such a happy mood from the get go this morning. He would get excited each time Shelley or his friends would engage and play with him. He was displaying lots of giggles and excitement throughout some floor time with friends. The children and Jett are beginning to form a lovely friendship and it is lovely to see the older children becoming so enthused in Jett and protective of him. They will bring him toys to play with and have become fully invested and accepting of Jett being in care. This is lovely to observe, as they form a strong level of becoming friends.
The beautiful caring spirit that leads you through life is all I could ever ask for from one such as yourself not to keep from the world but to place you on a pedestal for all to see. However, not as a trophy but one to be admired as a example of a true being of what others try so hard to achieve with little success. A true self of a flower constantly blooming each waking day. Only to have been placed on earth from a heaven no human has seen. She is my friend this one. Yet not one of a kind but my kind. For my friends.
The fact of the matter is, I have never regretted, for a single day, living in France. It was my opportunity to grow , develop into a globally minded citizen, an omnivorous student and a philomath. That year, surrounded by sixty-five of the most intelligent and motivated classmates I had ever come across, I grew to love learning and I finally realized the importance of being vigilant in school and not just athletics. My greatest achievement, however; was not only did I leave Rennes fluent in French, I learned through perseverance that I can be successful in any situation life throws at
" 'La Vida por Perón". The crowd of a million and a half shouted these words, not for one minute, but for several" (Fraser and Navarso, 152). 'La vida por Perón' are among many of Eva Perón's last words, before her death on July 26th, 1952, but not among the first words she has used to promote Juan Perón and Perónism in Argentina. Juan Perón is arguably one of the most well-known presidents of Argentina and his movement, the Perónist movement, has played a very important role in Argentina's political history over the late 1940s to the early 1960s, and has inspired many current political parties in Argentina ("Perónist"). Many who identify themselves as Perónistas and commemorate Juan Perón and his political ideologies look up to Evita as well
In the late 1950s in Post-War Britain, life for the average teenager was somewhat bleak. The rationed mind-set of the WWII generation was still a part of the social consciousness by the mid 50s, and the economy was slow to bounce back from the ravages of the war. Unlike America at the time, few people in Britain had the freedom for social pursuits or the lifestyle of leisure,(a phenomenon enjoyed mainly in the United States), and, especially if you were "working-class", your choices were much narrower.
