Dear (Insert recipient):
Over 900,000 veterans live in Ohio alone and many of them are in need of help after returning from war. Wags 4 Warriors is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organisation with a goal to provide veterans with service dogs to ease the strain of daily life. The largest struggle that many veterans face today is PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) which is an affliction caused by a terrifying event. Wags 4 Warriors is not only a service dog organisation but also a support system for the veterans and their families. We provide the dogs and training at no cost to the veterans themselves and many of the dogs are rescued
For as long as there have been wars, there have been warriors who survive — and yet become as much casualties of battle as those who died (Blair). Founded in 2003 in Roanoke, Virginia, by a group of veterans and friends the Wounded Warrior Project took action to help the injured service men and women of this generation. The mission of the WWP is to honor and empower wounded warriors who incurred a physical or mental injury, illness or wound, co-incident to their military service on or after September 11, 2001. The vision of the project is to foster the most successful, well-adjusted generation of wounded service members in our nation’s history. The project has three purposes: to raise awareness and enlist the
The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) began in the year 2003 after many veterans and their friends discovered the necessity to send items of comfort to service members who are wounded and coming back home from Iraq and Afghanistan. From that time, the WWP has developed into a full rehabilitative effort to help warriors as they shift back into a life of a civilian. Using an approach that is holistic, the WWP serves soldiers as well as their families through nurturing the body and mind, and promoting economic engagement as well as empowerment. Through this, service is offered to service members and veterans who sustained a mental or physical injury, sickness, or wound at the time their military service on the 11th of September 2001 or after that date.
Veterans. All of those that have previously served our country in the United states military. Sadly much to often, these veterans come back from their tours physically and mentally damaged. Along with broken and or missing limbs, they are often diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, also known as PTSD. I found the fascination for this illness and veterans while watching a new show on t.v. with my family. It’s called Dogs of War. This show is about a program called “Paws and Stripes” that connects veterans that are harshly affected on a daily basis to service dogs. I know that the concept of veterans and service dogs isnt a new concept, but what is different about this program is that they get the dogs from an animal shelter, then
Nevertheless through these four places I was able to learn a few basic points about the organization. One, they are a non-profit group that aids veterans with hidden injuries such as post traumatic stress syndrome (PTSD) by connecting them with a rescue dog and training both human and canine. Two, the goal is to have the dog certified as a companion animal or service animal free of charge for the veteran. Three, the dogs come from rescues as well as animal shelters. Four, their motto is "helping veterans one rescue at a time".
I have seen and known so many racists in my life. I am not friends with these people because being racist is horrible just like being sexist and homophobic. One of the biggest examples of racism is Nikky. Nikky used to ride though the bad side of town and see how many blacks and Mexicans she could make angry. I tried my best to distance myself from that type of person. I have also been in fights with racist black kids. I was called dirt by some black girl. She also hit me so I being in 3rd grade got very mad. I backed up really far .She smirked and must of thought “Haha I won”. Then I put my arms out and ran full speed and pushed into a wall.It turns out a broke her arm and thats why she never came around my house. While I geuss I over reacted to what happened.Keep in mind I was like 8 and didn’t know I could hurt her that bad.
In American history, there are always well-known hero figures such as George Washington, Samuel Adams, and Ulysses S. Grant. However, there are other incredible people who altered the structure of the country as well. Brave African-American men fought for the freedoms and safety of the citizens, even though they themselves did not receive these benefits. The troops of these men were later recognized as the Buffalo soldiers.
In the wake of the wars, our military’s men and women have experienced things that most people cannot dare to dream of. Although some of them are able to transition into the civilian life, many are left with scars that are mentally and physically traumatic. Rick Yount established Warrior Canine Connection in order to help veterans and their families find a service dog to successfully guide and aid veterans to become stronger and to function better. Service dogs have been around for many years helping veterans get back on their feet and helping them with their disabilities. Post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injury affect hundreds of veterans each day. Those who suffer from amputated limbs must rely on others and mechanical devices to function.
In an article published by Time magazine, they stated “40,000 troops have been physically wounded in Afghanistan and Iraq, but 10 times as many exhibit symptoms of PTSD.” This means four-hundred thousand troops are still suffering from these symptoms. In the Time article, it talks about how scientists learned that dogs can lower these symptoms in veterans. These scientist have proven this by using many individuals cases and comparing the intensity of their symptoms without therapy dogs to the patients with therapy dogs. Although many people believe dogs cannot lower symptoms of disorders, scientists like those interviewed for the Time article are proving them wrong. Therapy dogs positively affect war veterans by lowering their Post Traumatic
According to Rick Nauert, who has his Ph.D. from The University of Texas at Austin in information science with focuses on health care informatics, health administration, health education and health policy, reports that “Chris Goehner, a 25-year-old Iraq war veteran, reported that he was able to cut his doses of anxiety and sleep medications in half after getting one of the service dogs” and “he also saw an end to his night terrors and suicidal thoughts” (n.p.). In Love and Esnayra finding they found that, “another 40% report that their use of medication has decreased subsequent to human-canine partnership” (12). Moore also found in her study that, “three participants stated that employing their psychiatric service dog allowed them to greatly decrease their psychotropic medication usage” (90). All of these veterans shown above have been able to lower the amount of medication they are on, just by having a psychiatric service dog by their side and there to support the veteran with anything they may
This company is known as Wags 4 Warriors, located in Brecksville, Ohio. Co-founded by Frank DeLorenzo, Wags 4 Warriors has helped change the lives of both soldiers and dogs across Northeast Ohio. Their motto, “The war may be over for us, but the battle has just begun” shows that war impacts everyone and may take a lifetime to cure (“WAGS 4 WARRIORS-Home”). Frank himself is a veteran from a 2007 war in Iraq. He suffered post-traumatic stress disorder and an injury to the brain. He was prescribed a service dog, but had to get it from out of state and it would take three years for him to meet his new companion. He and his wife did not agree with this, so they tried to train a dog themselves, and after the hard work it was a success. He spread his job by word of mouth and created an organization called Wags 4 Warriors (Patsko, Scott). Wags 4 Warriors has grown a lot since then. After only two years, Wags 4 Warriors has helped over 100 veterans and trained 60-70 dogs. Unfortunately, this is not as easy as it sounds. Training a service dog can take up to a year, but most veterans are done after six months if they stick with a five-day-a-week training schedule. After they find their dog, it takes 160 hours of classroom training and 60 hours of public time (Patsko, Scott). Wags 4 Warriors is one of the only companies in Northeast Ohio that trains dogs to help wounded veterans.
School has started for these pups at the Hero Dogs training program to help the people in need, such as veterans. These adorable little puppies will become helping heros when training in this 2-year program. The puppies learn simple commands and skills, like shutting the doors or walking up the stairs. Each dog is assigned to a veteran based on their energy, behavior, and skills. It also depends on the veteran’s lifestyle and needs. The dogs are trained to be calming, to help anxiety, or to be empathic when things are difficult. These dogs always lived a special life.
Another thing they might say is that the soldiers are too hurt or injured to have and take care of the dogs. Most of the time disabled veterans have assistance like a family member of a close friend, so where they could take care of the dog. The veterans need these dogs. The dogs can motivate them, they can help them do everyday things, and they can help improve the soldier's health physically and mentally.
Do you know what an American Ninja Warrior is? It is the appellation a person obtains when he or she completes the world’s toughest obstacle course. The humankind has landed people on the moon, it has flown around the world, but no individual has yet to become an American Ninja Warrior. There are four stages in Vegas, the last stage being called, “Mt. Midoriyama”, and Brian Arnold is the only person to have ever beaten stage three. Normally he would have gone to stage four and be given the chance to win one million dollars, however he did not because it was during a Team USA vs The World contention. In beating stage three, he brought Team USA into a tie with Team Europe using grit, and I believe grit to be succeeding at your goals, that is
The sinking of the Rainbow Warrior was an event that truly began when Greenpeace first formed, almost two decades before the bombing in Auckland Harbour occured. In the late 1960s, the United States government planned to carry out nuclear testing on Amchitka, an unstable island in Alaska which had a dangerous fault line and was prone to earthquakes and tsunamis after the serious earthquake in Alaska, 1964. A group known as the ‘Don’t Make A Wave’ committee formed to protest against the nuclear testing on the island. The committee began to make plans for other campaigns against nuclear testing elsewhere, as well as establishing their first office in Vancouver, Canada. Many of the members then decided to take the next step with their committee,
The game is quite comparable to other match 3 Role Playing games. Combats are simply turn-based and are composed of the player's 5 monsters, each and every which comes under some of the five elemental types, fighting a changing quantity of adversaries. Assaults are created by grabbing as well as transferring the distinct colored elements all over the screen and pairing them.
