To add to the fact that students don’t like waking up early or maybe they just didn’t get enough sleep, makes them mad are upset more or less mad. They sometimes tend to take their anger out on other people which ruins their day also, so now everyone is mad, some may want to fight each other or teachers this causes discipline and behavior issues, if school started at 9 students would have a little more time to get some extra rest and get their mind prepared to go to school, I tend to have attitudes if I stayed up late the night before studying for a
Most students when the wake up feel drowsy or tired because they have to go to school before 8:00 am. Schools should have later start times for many reason some include that they just need more sleep and that if they do not get enough sleep it could be dangerous.
Teenagers need more sleep. If schools start school later, students would be less tired. A study of eight schools in Minnesota started school 1 hour later and grades and morale went up and tardiness went down. It has been scientifically proven in a test they did in Minnesota that 8 schools stated later and most of the students grades went up they were happier and everyone seemed more
First of all, If schools start at 9 then students at middle school won’t say things like what Emily Manwiller told me she told me “Yes! I do think schools should start later, because when you don’t get enough sleep you don’t think straight.” Erin Schrader also told me “Yes, because to early in the day kids don’t think right.” Already 2 students told me yes because of schools being too early in the morning and students being tired. If students are tired and fall asleep in class then they would get in trouble. If they fall asleep day after day they might get a detention, but if schools for middle and high school started at 9 they would feel refreshed and is able to stay awake during the school
Have you ever woken up in the morning, looked at your clock and says 5:30am, and thinking, it's so early I'm tired and not ready to get up. This is why all of our schools need to start later in the morning. Schools need to start later in the morning, because people are more awake for the day, less reckless driving in the morning, and are more physically and mentally healthier. One reason schools across the nation need to start later is because, students need more sleep so they can be more awake and ready for the day. Most adolescents need at least 8 hours of sleep.
.firstly, If school were to start later in the morning, students wouldn’t have time to get as much sleep as they need. Students would go to school earlier and that means they would get out later, and with
First, previous schools who have changed their starting time have had grades and attitude improvements. For example, Edina High, Minnesota, and Pike County, Kentucky’s school-wide GPA’s increased 23% and attitude survey showed 9.7% increase in students who “liked school.” Since the schools who have changed their starting time are seeing great improvement, I'm sure it will show in any other school who decides to change starting times. Next, moving the start time to 9 will push the ending time back to about 4 or 5. For instance, most parents are getting off at that time so it's benefiting the young children who are home alone after school.
“Students at the schools with early start times were tardy four more times more frequent.” Students tend to be tardy or even absent because they’re too tired due to waking up at 6 or 7. With a later start to school, students will get longer to sleep. In a study of later start times, “teachers, especially wanted a change because, “they were concerned about student attendance… we noticed better attendance.” ” With a later start time, not only grades could improve but attendance could too.
Students and teachers won’t be rushed in the morning to get ready. Students have to gather homework, backpacks, binders and lunchboxes. Students could forget their supplies when they are rushed. Students sometimes don’t even have time to eat breakfast. When kids skip breakfast, they don’t get what they need to preform their best in school. On top of not being rushed, you will not be as stressed whether you’re a parent, teacher or student.Even though students would get out of school later in the afternoon, students would more sleep, wouldn’t be rushed in the morning, and would be able to focus more at school. If school started later in the day, students wouldn’t be stressed or rushed.
Everyone has always hated getting up super early to go to school. As children get older they move to different schools, from elementary to middle to high school, and the start times get earlier. In elementary school it was never a problem getting up but getting older, it always got harder to get up and the days were always longer. Schools start so early in the morning that it is hard to focus and students tend to miss more of their earlier classes and attend all of their later classes. Schools everywhere should start later because it would benefit the students and teachers.
If we were to start school later, academic GPA’s (grade point averages) would definately increase. Isn’t this what we want in our school? It is proven that the more sleep you get, the more awake and alert you actually are. I interviewed Michael Claffey, a sophomore at Newington High School, he stated “ Goooooud.” Also Jorge Premto a sophomore at Newington High School stated “Yes Michael, yes I do believe school should start at nine o’clock am. This will thus help further my education because I will be well rested.” In all, we need school to start later because it will help us with our education.
A big reason school’s may enjoy having a later start time, is because it can contribute to the school’s success. A later start time can improve the school’s overall test scores (Why We Must - and Can - Restore Safe & Healthy School Hours). Students can learn their best when they are not tired or drowsy. The School Start Later — Healthy Hours campaign stated that, “Academic improvements have been shown, and overall school climate has been measurably improved when high schools have restored later start times,” (Why We Must - and Can - Restore Safe & Healthy School Hours). The sleep researcher mentioned earlier, Wendy Troxel, said in her presentation that when kid’s are woken up by an alarm, they are literally robbed of their dreams. Dreams are associated with learning development. In order for student’s to use the most of their brains, they need to be receiving the right amount of good quality sleep. Not only do test scores rise, but so does the graduation rate, which is a major problem in today’s generation (Why We Must - and Can - Restore Safe & Healthy School Hours). In contribution to the student success, later start times could drastically improve the school’s success. Later start times have increased attendance around
Couple bumping into each other, girl waking up from an alarm clock, couple lost in the jungle and find a cabin which magically has clothes that fit them, the slut (& blonde) cheerleader/popular girl, the horny and sexually frustrated teenage guys, the truth and dare kiss game, the girl (almost) getting raped at a party but the hero saves her on time, the always-blushing nerd, and the list goes on.

There are many negative effects this condition can have on a teens body including a direct effect on one’s physical and mental health, public safety and excelling in the future. In the Ted Talk video, " Why school should start later for teens" by, Wendy Troxel. Ms. Troxel explained why school should start later for teens.. Johnny always hit the snooze button at 6:30 for school. Every morning he looks like he his sleepwalking and acting as a zombie like when he is downstairs eating breakfast. It looks like he could go to sleep for 1 more hour!
All students have their own ways of waking up in the morning for school. Some students rely on their boisterous alarm clocks to wake them up, while others wake up to their mothers’ yells. There are also students who wake up to the smell of freshly brewed coffee or to the king of king, the irresistible sound of bacon sizzling on the frying pan while its aroma travels the house, knocking on the students’ nostrils to wake up. My way of waking up comprises of some good old parental yelling, but with a bit of a twist, which includes a little bit of slapping on my back and the blanket stolen away from me. Whatever the means, though, we obligatorily wake up, get ready for school, and leave the house.
