What you have done is almost as important as what you will do.
Having the confidence to step out into an unknown field of work or any task for that matter is always daunting. I had to combat this daunting feeling when I moved to the US in 2004. I step up to the front lines studied English at school and at home and become accustomed to the food and lifestyle within a year. With this conquered I moved my battle elsewhere.
Two years later I received the "Presidents Awards for Educational Excellence." With this new experience in hand I moved into high school where I was an honor roll student and where I decided on my career. I took a pharmacy internship position at Walgreen's that was provided by my school and I loved it.
At this Walgreen's
I visited Walgreens today because I wanted to print out some of my pictures, and also I wanted to buy a digital camera for my mom. I choose Walgreens because it is one of the best company in photos and in the selling of digital cameras. My experience in using interactive tools, and digital displays was very interesting.
Thank you Lord! I am very grateful to be able to successfully finish my third rotation at Walgreens pharmacy in Wellington, FL. My preceptor was Dr. Andrew Guvetis, a graduate from Nova Southern University and he has been working with Walgreens for a little over 2 years. During the first day, I noticed that this Walgreens was somewhat different from the others. It was designed like a wellness clinic where the pharmacist can spend some time during the day sitting on a desk right outside the pharmacy check-out counter and be accessible to answer any questions patients may have. It also had a big consultation room with comfy seating, a table including a sink and counter where a pharmacist can prepare immunizations or perform several screening tests. Walgreens offers health tests every day which help determine possible risks for heart disease or are looking for convenient ways to manage diabetes or high blood pressure. Some of the services offered include: cholesterol and blood pressure tests, body composition test and a comprehensive medication review. Test results are provided within minutes and it includes a pharmacist consultation as well.
The Walgreens chain began in 1901, with a drug store on the corner of Bowen Ave and Cottage Grove, Chicago, Illinois, United States owned by Galesburg native Charles R. Walgreen, Sr.[6] By 1915, there were five Walgreen drugstores. He added several improvements to the stores such as soda fountains and luncheon service. He also began to make his own line of drug products and was then able to control the quality of the items and sell them at lower prices. By 1916, 19 stores were in operation, all in Chicago. And in that same year, all the stores were consolidated under Walgreen Co. The 1920s was a very successful decade for Walgreens. In 1921, the company opened stores
In Walgreens board of directors there are two inside directors which is acceptable ratio. Best practice recommends at least ¾ of board members should be independent which is in case of Walgreens satisfied.
Walgreens was founded in 1901 measuring 50 feet by 20 feet by Charles R. Walgreen, Sr.. Mr. Walgreen was born near Galesburg, Illinois and his family later relocated to Dixon, Illinois at town about 60 miles north of his birthplace. Mr. Walgreens’ father was a farmer who turned into a businessperson and saw a great potential of the Rock River Valley (Walgreen, n.d., p.1). At age 16, Charles Walgreen had his first experience working in a drug store. He didn’t always have pleasurable experiences but it was a job with pay. He had an accident at a shoe factory that cut off his left middle finger from the top joint. This injury also stops him from playing any sports at school. After a year and a half with the
My most significant personal achievement would have to be participating in the Kansas University Medical Center (KUMC) Summer Camp. This camp took place in the summer of 2016 and it was 7 weeks. I loved this camp and I was filled with so much knowledge. I got special insight on how some of the careers in the medicine field consist of such as radiologists, nurses, family physicians, and pediatricians. It was very a meaningful experience that I will never forget and I am proud of myself for being able to partake in the meaningful experience. Due to this program, I had become even more intrigued in the idea that a career in medicine was fit for me.
Walgreens Co. is the largest drugstore chain in the United States in terms of sales, receiving most of its revenue from retail prescriptions. These drugstores sell prescription and non-prescription drugs, and general merchandise. Its general merchandise consists of beauty care, personal care, household items, candy, photofinishing, greeting cards, seasonal items, convenience food and Walgreens offers an old-fashioned tonic for fiscal fitness. While Walgreen has fewer stores than its closest rival CVS, it is #1 in the nation in sales (Hoover's Inc, 2007). Walgreens operates about 6,000 stores in 49 states
In 2016, CFO Wade Miquelon told Wall Street that Walgreens would generate $8.5 billion in fiscal 2016. Not even three months later, the CFO changed this estimate to only $1.1 billion a small fraction of the original estimate. The CFO ended up taking the fall even though there were others involved obviously. These are just some ideas on the best practices in financial planning and forecasting to help avoid problems like Walgreens had.
Thanks for your post Kimberlee. Walgreen, CVS and some other retails stores are very helpful to so many people especially the low income group. These people do not benefit from the flu shot and medication refill alone, those with no good insurance but on blood presure medication or some diabetic patients find it more comfortable to have their blood presure and blood sugar checked at these
Let me start by saying, a happy employee is a happy company. An organization cannot meet its target goals except with close liaison with its employees. Employees on the other hand, want an organization that not only concerns it’s with its customers welfare and making profits, but also interested in making the welfare of its employees paramount, using Target as a case study. Target, the second largest retailer in the US market believes in assimilating its employees not just into its fold but into its vision and ideas. As stated on the company’s website, “Every team member is encouraged to innovate, contribute ideas and discover solutions as an important part of a world-class team” (Target career, 2016). Employees will rather work for an organization where their voices are heard and opinion counts. More so, with the dotted line crossing the boundary between an employee and an investor, it is imperative for organizations to craft programs that are beneficial to its employees. In Target’s own word,
The pharmacy at Walgreens on Kathleen in Lakeland has recognized me personally ever since I established a relationship with the company after moving from Miami five years ago. Every month when I fill my standard prescriptions or when I get sick and have to get new medication, I am greeted by name before the cashier even looks into the computer, plus she always asks about my family and how I am feeling. The pharmacist and pharmacy technician treat me as an individual, not a number and this personal touch makes me a loyal customer. On the other hand, my son can only get his monthly medications at CVS Pharmacy and whenever I pick his medication up or he does, we are treated like brand new customers, there is no personalization. We have tried
Since November, I received a few more awards for Mount Si High School and the girls swim team. I was awarded “Student of the Term for Science”. I was nominated by teachers and selected for this award from my entire senior class. For swim team, I was selected by my team for “Most Inspirational” award and received the “2016-2017 Coach’s Award”. At Meadowbrook Urgent Care Center, they asked me to take on more volunteer responsibilities such as running the front desk, including making patient appointments, signing them in, and answering patient
Strategy does not end with formulation and implementation. It is constantly evolving and being analyzed for effectiveness and measured to ensure it is continuing to meet the original intent of the organization. Some of the means used to measure strategy include financial ratios, market analysis, and balance scorecards. (Strategy as Work-in-Progress: Keep Looking Ahead) Of these, financial ratios are important but tend to review strategy in a historical sense whereas the balanced score card has the ability to look at how the customer perceives you and what must be done to excel in the industry. We would like to thank you so much for all the hard work that you all have been doing. As Walgreens still continue being one of the top largest retail pharmacy in the United States. Our goal and vision has always been; to be America's most loved pharmacy-led health, wellbeing and beauty retailer and to champion everyone’s right to be happy and healthy and that also include our employees.
