A man it held up by a rope, blindfolded, and guards force him to stay awake while embarrassing and chastising him for hours; on end until he confesses or reveals information that will be helpful in fighting the War on Terror. The image, I am setting up for you is one of the techniques written in the torture memo on how to deal with terrorists and fight the War on Terror. When the memo got leaked, it created controversy among Americans. They saw how these alleged prisoners were being tortured. This incident raised many questions such as, how does the state get the power to use violence? How is this act of violence legal? And how is the war on terror so different that they have to change their techniques for war? To answer this question,
Imagine waking up and seeing the Twin Towers being hit by airplanes and seeing mass destruction in the city. What would you do? How would you feel? What would you say if you were the President of the United States at the time that horrendous attack occurred? “ One of the worst days in America’s history saw some of the bravest acts in America's history. We’ll always honor the heroes of 9/11. And here at this hallowed place, we pledge that we will never forget their sacrifice.” 9/11 was a very tragic and scary day for a lot of people and many people lost their lives and some are still dealing with the effects today. It would be very sad seeing the lives taken by this attack and also scary because you didn’t know if there were any other attacks to follow. Due to the events that happened that day, many things had to be changed in order to prevent another attack from occurring again.
On May 2nd, 2011, the people of the United States awoke to some of the best news they would hear for many years to come; Osama bin Laden had been killed. President Barack Obama delivered the message at 7:30AM and the country was buzzing about it for weeks after. Osama bin Laden was a name that every American man, woman, and child knew. On 9-11-01, four planes were hijacked by terrorists and crashed into strategic locations to sow chaos, confusion, death, and destruction into the American people. 2,977 innocent Americans died on that fateful day, and the man who decided they should die and be subject to terror was Osama bin Laden. Since that fateful day, America has donated massive amounts of time and money to find Osama, and bring him to justice. However, time and time again he evaded capture and kept us chasing him.
Good evening. Tonight, I can report to the American people and to the world that the United States has conducted an operation that killed Osama bin Laden, the leader of al Qaeda, and a terrorist who’s responsible for the murder of thousands of innocent men, women, and children.
9.11.01 was a horrifying day for the people of America, as well as many others from across the globe. It has been 14 years since that day and people will still be remembering this day forever. People will never forget 9.11, where two planes that were hijacked by Islamic people sent by Osama Bin Laden and flown into the twin towers, and another plane that had hit the pentagon. I think of this day as the saddest day that America had ever had.
I am sure that everyone of you have heard about aliens and UFOs. Indeed, we all have heard about the famous case of aliens and UFOs in Roswell, New Mexico. Most people might be interested in the topic of aliens, but I know that the majority of you just think of it as rumours and the existence of them are impossible. Therefore, I am standing here in front all of you to make you change your perspective. I am strongly confident that I have found the evidence of their real existence to convince all of you.
Elizabeth, excuse me for just walking in. First of all, I couldn't agree with you more. Bill and I were discussing this divine matter on the other day, and he pretty much said as you indicated. We wonder how it all began, who is responsible, and now we are witnessing the results around the world, and in America. America pre 9/11, except for Afghanistan, didn't have much of refugee problem like we do today, did we senator? At least not the eight years of Bill being the President. Coming from a former First Lady, a Senator, Secretary of State, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, an American, and a Presidential Candidate, not only Bill, but I also have a good relationship with Bernie, but yours is a better one senator Warren. Bill and I think it's
Today I will be telling you about the attacks of 9/11. The attack happened on september 11, 2001. This was a very tragic day in history for everyone. This was the day in history that our twin towers/world trade center and the pentagon got hit with airplanes by a group called Al Qaeda’s. These terrorist had been living in the United States for awhile we just didn't know they had this bombing planned. Two pilots had tried to warn everyone else but, these terrorist got to them first. They had planned on hijacking 5 planes and making them crash but only got to 4. Two of which crashed into the twin towers. A lot of people died in this crash. This spread fast through the newspapers, television, or through the people. Lots of families lost their
Future generations should be educated on September 11. Schools, whether it’s high school or college, should take time to concentrate a few moments to remember the people we lost that day. Many people lost their lives due to the crash and while trying to save those people stuck in the buildings. This is one of the biggest events to happen in the United States, it shouldn’t be forgotten. September 11 brought us as a nation closer together that day. It also made us more careful with plane procedures. As a nation, we should never forget and always remember how this day changed our lives.
Persuasive speech outline purpose: To persuade my audience to donate blood through the American Red Cross. Introduction:

It was October 6, 1998 when he was lured from the bar that cold, fateful night. His skull was smashed with a pistol butt as he was lashed to a fence, left for dead in near freezing temperatures. Nearly eighteen hours later he was found by passersby and taken to a hospital where we remained in a coma for several days until slowly slipping away. At his funeral, picketers carried signs saying, "God Hates Fags" and *Fags Deserve to Die."
The threat of terrorism is real, even in western countries, but is it over exaggerated? The need to be vigilant is obvious, but do we have to live in fear? Every time someone goes overseas, do we have to behave as if it happened around the corner? Why in 2014 is every act by a gunman immediately interpreted as an act of terror? And when do the politicians cross the line from public safety (for the Australian people) and security warnings to fear for the purpose of fear? As disturbing as the events in Ottawa and other places are, they could have been the actions of an individual with a criminal history of some form. Even if it is discovered that he is part of a terrorist organisation - what the Prime Minister of Australia, Mr Abbott, described
American military eventually found and killed Osama Bin Laden on May 2011 in Pakistan. Though Al-Qaeda is weaker without him other groups have the same goals and beliefs..
For example, using a leftover coffee can for loose nails or screws, or even washing and reusing a plastic zip-loc bag instead of throwing it in the garbage. Thrift shopping is a way of reusing someone else’s unwanted goods. As I spoke about in an earlier speech about thrifting, I included many locations and ways to thrift, also the benefits to the shopper and the donator. One place in particular was shopping at the local boys and girls club. I personally shop there, keeping my eyes open for a good deal. For example, the pair of jeans that I am wearing today was purchased from this store just a few months ago. I paid only $8.00 for this pair of Lucky Jeans and according to buckle.com, a retailer for lucky jeans the retail price is $99.00 that is a savings to me of $91.00.I am not the type to worry about name brands, but quality usually does cost more. If I can get a quality pair of jeans at a fraction on the price, I am glad to shop at the thrift store. I am thankful to the person that made the donation of the lucky jeans and they can benefit from that donation. According to the IRS webpage, IRS. Gov it explains that an individual can donate items like clothing, household furniture and furnishings, a car or boat, even taxidermy. The donations are appraised, by the donator, and recorded. At the time of filing taxes if the donation equals at least $500 for the year, the donator may take advantage of the
Have you ever had a fear for your family, your town, your country, or your world. How about the fear to have everything taken from you, destroyed, and not caring if it has hurt you or not? What about your fear and pain is, and can be someone else’s happiness? The fear of you being terrorized? That is terrorism. Someone else bringing fear and terrorizing you. That is a terrorist’s goal. Terrorism is common and is very difficult to stop. The government promises protection for the people, and their home, but they can not give that protection if they can not stop terrorism. Terrorism needs to stop to protect the live of the people, and their country.
