Through out this course we have discussed a variety of topics ranging from child development to creating an effective lesson plan for students. But what does this mean for us as educators? In my field experience I had the pleasure of working with numerous effective educators. As I contemplated what I was observing, one question kept coming to mind. What makes a good teacher? After a lot of thought I have compiled a list of things I saw implemented, that I believe help make an effective educator. Though this list is by no means all encompassing, I believe they are the beginnings of an arsenal of tools and techniques needed to become a truly effective educator.
There are several important qualities that any outstanding educator or teacher should have. Any educator in any situation should gain the respect of the students by first giving their students respect. It is an endless cycle and it would make life easy. The teacher should also have a great rapporter with the students. It lets them know that the teachers does care about them and that is invaluable, children do pick on emotions very quickly.
There are many attributes that I believe define and comprise the qualities in an outstanding teacher in today’s classrooms. First, outstanding teachers know their students. By knowing each student, a teacher is able to plan and implement instruction in a way that is meaningful to each individual. Outstanding teachers are proactive. Behavior is reduced and instructional time increased through proactive practices such as teaching routines and providing student supports. Outstanding teachers collect and use student data frequently to help meet student needs and increase meaningful instructional time. Supportive communication is another essential skill to be an outstanding teacher. An outstanding teacher effectively collaborates and communicates
One of the utmost important traits that fabricate up an outstanding teacher would be passion. I believe passion is the mere momentous act of being a great teacher for the reason that it shows one's love for their career. Passion also shows that the person is willing to devote themselves to the students and their learning. Another essential factor of being a magnificent teacher would be having patience, patience plays a vast role in how the teacher will run the classroom and how the class will perceive the teacher. A phenomenal teacher would have keen patience skills and be able to work with certain
Every moment in my life has impacted me and shown me how I should run my classroom. Spending many years struggling in school, no one helping me or trying to figure out what is best for me to get the best education I can showed me what I do not want for my students. This struggle has shown me that every student is different and has a different way of learning. This allows me to learn my students strengths and weaknesses and play on them to help them receive the education they deserve and succeed. Being exposed to so many different people and cultures through travel and attending an international school has allowed me to see how other people live and work and given me insight to other cultures and how to be sensitive to their culture and traditions
Throughout my high school years I have chosen classes that challenge me that are graduation requirements and that
My overview project was intended for an eighth grade reading class. The students had a ten day lesson plan based on the types of point of views that they would encounter. The main point for this unit was to have the students understand the characteristics of each point of view. Point of view is crucial to have the readers understand their readings and who is speaking during the text. The classes were constructed in two types of ways, some were teacher lead and others were in peer groups. The teacher lead gave the student the proper information to put in their information packet, and the peer group interaction was to help the students understand and work together on the point of views. During the peer groups they will be reading and writing
I had been a student at Jackson College since 2009. I did go to Baker College in between 2011 to 2012. Then I come back to Jackson College in 2012 because I didn’t like something there. I took couple of classes on campus, but I am deaf in one ear and going deaf in the other so it kind hard for me in classroom full of other students to take notes or anything else. Someone told me it could be easier on me if I take online class. So I start take online and I like it because I can work at my own pace and don’t have worry that it is misplace somehow.
This article confirms some of my ideas and suspicions about potential collaboration with classroom teachers. On the whole, it seems that most teachers would be willing to collaborate with the school librarian if they understood that doing so is worthwhile. On the surface, the advantages seem numerous: a shared workload, a partner to brainstorm and discuss ideas with, the opportunity to innovate and elevate lessons beyond the traditional, conventional, and mundane, etc. However, two of the biggest factors affecting the amount of successful collaboration are time and mutual respect on behalf of both parties. The research confirmed that many teachers and librarians feel that they do not have the time to collaborate with one another because of
On the off chance that the Math Faculty has enough subsidizes, it is valuable to tackle the issues by introducing extra types of gear, for example, SMART sheets or introducing more than one arrangement of projector and screen in huge classrooms, so the course materials can be better displayed. If not, the Math workforce can appoint more math courses in the classrooms that don't have projectors since math courses don't utilize projectors as much as alternate courses, and classrooms that have great types of gear can be utilized by financial aspects or CS courses. Taking everything into account, projectors and screens are assuming critical parts in classrooms. Without projectors and screens, we can't demonstrate our course materials as viably
I don't think that I identify as someone who is a visual learner but as look at this list it makes me wonder if I am! I always carry a pen and paper with me just in case I need to make a list and I love studying in a quiet environment. Most people that really know me would say I am very detail oriented, but what I don't like of this list is reading. I have a hard time sitting down and just reading for enjoyment. Reading is something that I really have to work hard at even just for fun. In the online classroom it has been really easy to intergrate these things because of how organized the whole classroom is. I have everything laid out for me even a list of what I need to
In spite of the fact that this course was different than a traditional in-class course, I believe that it has helped me tremendously in a substantial variety of ways. When I was introduced to the online course process for the first time, the idea appeared odd to me. However, I soon realized how many advantages there are in regards to saving time. As the days went by, this class helped me think critically and accept different points of view in ongoing conversations about certain issues my classmates and I were discussing. Additionally, this class also taught me about the importance of staying organized with all my homework and managing my available time wisely. Although we were not in a classroom setting, Professor Mills along with my peers
In a senior high math classroom a factoring unit could include items to stimulate many of the personality types.
One trait that I have that would help me to be a successful teacher is the ability to be hard working. I get home from dance and all I want to do is sleep, but of course I cannot. I must study for tests and complete the assignments due the next day. As I work, I think about being in my bed but continue working hard because I know it must be done. When I finally go to sleep that night, I wake up shortly after to get ready for school. I work all day at school and try my best to focus and learn to the best of my ability. It takes dedication to continue to work hard every day without the recommended amount of sleep. My hard work pays off when I get rewarded with good grades and award breakfasts. (Evidence 1.3.1) Another important characteristic is the ability to stay organized. Organization is key for a teacher because they must be able to keep each student's work neat and in one place. Also, the teacher needs to be organized when they are grading a student’s work because they would not want to confuse a student’s work with one another. I am organized by keeping separate folders for each subject. Keeping each class organized helps me to save important papers from the beginning of the school year that I may need
