The American colonist were not justified in declaring independence from the british. The American colonist were not justified in declaring the independence from the british because the british wanted all the land and all the weapons. They wanted to be the biggest and the most overpowered army. They followed the Americans wherever they went. They followed them to new york and bombed their
1763 marked the end of French and Indian war and caused a great celebration and pride in the American colonies. But, in next twelve years, the same pride was altered by at bitter and violent conflict with the mother country. The injustices of the mother country finally led the American colonists to declare independence and wage war against it. American colonies were justified for waging war and breaking away from Britain because they were defending themselves against a series of measures Parliament wished to impose on their communities without their consent.
The first reason that the colonists were justified in breaking away from the British was because the British Parliament and soldiers made unjust decisions for their own personal gain and abused their powers over the colonists. As stated in Document 2 of the packet “Document-Based Questions--Path to Revolution”, the British parliament taxed the colonists for the sole purpose of levying money upon them (Stamp Act). The taxes was also mainly used to pay for the French-Indian War, which seems like it justifies the British taxing, except for the fact that it was taxes without representation, which can be labeled as tyranny. This supports my argument, as the American colonists didn’t like having to pay for the war, and let Britain take money away from them for profit. Another piece of evidence that supports my claim would be that on Document 10 of the packet it was stated that, “We have understood it be
Colonists sought independence from British government for a multitude of reasons. Tension quickly rose between England and the thirteen colonies due to the unjust taxing without fair representation in Parliament, the colonist’s rights to assemble were taken away by the British, and there were many unreasonable Acts and laws put into place in attempt to have complete control over the colonists as well as intimidate them. For these reasons and the suffering that the colonists endured at the hands of the British government, I feel that the colonists had plenty just causes to separate themselves from England.
“Give me liberty or give me death!” Patrick Henry. I believe that the Colonists were justified in waging war and breaking away from Britain and the King. King George was making the Colonists pay very unfair taxes, he was trying to rule over them from all the way over in England, and he wouldn’t take the colonies legislators opinions into consideration. While some people may say that the Colonists were just unappreciative, that is not correct. They continued to stay with the King until the King turned on them and made them do things they didn’t want to do and shouldn’t have to do.
The American colonists were justified in fighting a war to break away from Britain because they were not being represented by Britain. For example, a member of the British Parliament was against taxing without representation. He said that taxation and representation are inseparable. In addition, the colonists were
The Colonists were very much justified to break for independence and freedom from the British rule. The way the British tried to rule over the Colony helped feed the spark of revolution. The British were making the Colonists feel like they never got away from Britain and the King's rule. They made a British Parliament with no American representatives, taxed them for the French and Indian war, and sent in troops to live in their homes. These are just three of the many events that started the spark of revolution.
Many people will tell you that American soldiers shouldn’t have disobeyed their “mother country”, Britain, just like a children should never disobey their mother. But people holding that opinion do not realize what Britain did to make the American colonists rebel. It all started in the 1750’s when Great Britain fought a war against the French and their Indian allies, called The French and Indian War. After the war, Britain began passing harsh laws for colonists to follow which made many very upset. Were the American colonists justified in waging war and breaking away from Britain? Americans were justified in declaring independence because British commanders made colonists open their homes to British soldiers, Britain passed harsh laws that
Would you rather be a slave or a free man? Now that might seem like an easy question to answer, but to the colonists it was the toughest decision of their lives. If they declared independence they would have a little chance of winning the war and have many casualties. If they didn’t declare independence than they would get pushed around and taxed more and more by the British soldiers and British Parliament. The colonists should declare independence because the British parliament fixing to add more and more taxes and rules.
I believe the American colonists were justified in breaking away from England because lack of land. Specifically, the British made the Proclamation of 1763, permitting the colonists to travel west of the Appalachian Mountains. Add shed in document A, the British were trying to keep the colonists safe by not letting them into Indian Territory. It still is not fair to block that side of the world off from limits. this Proclamation also made people give up their homes or life if they lived west of the Appalachian Mountains, they had to move back to the east. again, the proclamation is keeping people from living where they want and is giving them no freedom with land. The British law of retaining people east of the Appalachian Mountains brings me to my next point, occupation.
The Founding fathers justified in rebelling against the British government and declaring independence because of how the British government treated the colonists, the Monarchy, was unjust. The Founding Fathers declared independence from Britain for the people, and to make a fair, and form a just government.
In conclusion, the colonist protected themselves and had the right to do so. If they were not to stand up to the British Menace they would be used only for personal gain and we wouldn't have America formed. The British we power hungry and over confident in their abilities for governing people and their military. It s their military achievements that allowed them to be a bully to the world. If the colonist wouldn't have won the war to free America, there wouldn't be a
The Anglo-Americans were of course justified in seeking independence from the American Empire. The British empire were clear in their intent to use the colonies as a cash cow. In effort to keep control over the colonies and repaying their own debts, the British continuously increased taxes, on an already stressed environment. If a people cannot have control of their own moneys and livelihoods they cannot truly be free. That is why we still fight about taxes
The American colonies chose to declare independence from Great Britain for many reasons. Britain passed many laws that the colonist did not agree with. The colonist believed they were being taken advantage of and that the British were treating them unfairly. The colonists did not have any representatives in Parliament who could vote on taxes that would affect them, they also had no voice in the British government. The colonist called the first Continental Congress in order to consider resistance towards the British. The resistance was led by Massachusetts, it formed revolutionary government and established militias to resist the increasing British military presence. On April 19, 1775 the British encountered a group of American militiamen at
Great Britain, a tiny island in Europe, has ruled us, the large thirteen colonies, for over 150 years and it has come to the time that we must declare our independence from these biased rulers. We the colonists are overtaxed for our basic daily items, including tea, sugar, coffee, stamps, wine, and other basic necessities. Britain has also been taxing us with a lack of consent from the legislature themselves. After we attempted to boycott and rebel, we were chastised harshly with the Intolerable Acts. Great Britain has ruled the colonists erratically and has overtaxed the patriots unfairly, taxed with a lack of representation, and punished strictly with the Intolerable Acts, which is why we the patriots of the thirteen colonies should break
The unfair world the British brought upon the colonist. The British were in control, taking over, and making all the rules. Things were made to benefit the British while the colonist were left to sink. Many acts were passed against the colonist and the colonist were restricted from having certain rights. The founding fathers were justified in rebelling against the British government and declaring independence because of the way the British treated the colonist.
