What I Can Offer Your University
Shakespeare once said, "We know what we are, but know not what we may be." While I do not know what my future holds or how I will spend the bulk of my adult life, I know that only education will give me the opportunity to detect my interests and enrich my soul. I believe the University will provide me with the perfect atmosphere for bettering my life and my creative abilities.
One of the most important factors that I look for in a college is a low student-to-teacher ratio and an accessible faculty willing to work with students. I believe faculty accessibility plays a key role in helping to inspire students to be passionate about their fields of study and in preventing them from growing

I also look for a breadth of program offerings in a potential college. Since I am not completely certain what field I will pursue, I need a college with a wide array of majors, but most of all, I need a college with excellent departments in the areas I am seriously considering majoring in. I am very interested in psychology, and for the next three months, I will be volunteering at the Dylan Child Study Center in Brooklyn, New York. There, I will be able to learn and gain a better understanding of what the job of a child psychologist entails. From this experience, I hope to gauge my interests in psychology. Since I have dreamt of becoming a psychologist since childhood, I am optimistic that I will major in psychology at University. After asking many questions pertaining to the reputation and excellence of the psychology program at a recent University open house, I found that the school has a strong psychology program and would provide me with an excellent background with which to pursue a further degree.
In addition to my interests in psychology, I will bring my background in swimming to the University. For as long as I can remember, swimming has been a big part of my life, and I have been swimming competitively for over eight years. I plan to continue swimming during my college years. When I toured University?s new sports complex, I was thoroughly impressed by the magnificent Olympic-sized pool. After speaking with the swim coach, I
“Just one word … plastics,” the statement that alone can summarize Mike Nichols’ 1967 film, The Graduate. However, when Mr. McQuire tells the movie’s main character, Ben Braddock, that there is "a great future in plastics" he finds it irrelevant and escapes to be alone in his room. However this comment surreptitiously creates a parallel to everything we see in Ben’s life. Whether it be the apprehensive relationship with his parents, an alienated affair with Mrs. Robinson, or the near unsuccessful pursuit in finding the man within, the film conveys a strong sense of how fear and self doubt can lead to the ultimate downfall in a person.
Over the 12-year span of my swimming career, I faithfully trusted my coaches when they told me competitive swimming would take me places. At six-years-old, I dreamed of competing in the Summer Olympics, winning a gold medal, and seeing my face on the cover of a Wheaties box. However, at six-years-old, I never envisioned the mental and physical roller coaster that would define my future in the sport. I would experience numerous mental blocks and physical plateaus; I would sometimes go months and even years without achieving a best time; and I would win very few races, especially for the amount of effort I put into my nine practices each week. In high school, I grew frustrated, I doubted both my coaches and myself, and I contemplated quitting more times than I can count. But I kept swimming, hoping that each stroke and each lap would lead to the success that I sought to achieve. Then in 2014, undoubtedly the most frustrating year of my swimming career, I realized that swimming was so much more than just an extracurricular activity for me. It had become a lifestyle that streamlined me into the person I am today: dedicated, driven, and loyally interdependent.
I have always envisioned myself working with children and their families, but my experiences in college and beyond are what have shaped my enthusiasm for school psychology. At the University of Cincinnati I focused my education on families and children. Although my overall GPA falls just below the mean for your program, as my letters of recommendation indicate, I believe that my major GPA (3.89) and my experiences outside the classroom, give a better indication of my preparedness for graduate school. As a teaching assistant for a Childhood and Adolescence Development course for three semesters, I enjoyed the opportunity to develop a greater understanding of the crucial part development plays in all aspects of a child’s life, as well as the many factors that shape a child’s development.
There are three schools students may have an interest in, these colleges are: Cal Poly Pomona, San Diego State University, and the University of Hawaii at Manoa. The information a student could research are graduation rate, admission rate, jobs out of school, curriculum, greek life, and the student to faculty rate. With the curriculum set at each university, many courses are offered to potential students. After one earns a degree, based on a specific curriculum, schools try to help one student get a job once that pupil have graduated. In the upcoming paragraphs one student could participate on campus: the fun in engaging in greek life, or how in class, the student to faculty ratio may affect a student 's learning. By gathering information
Coming into UNF in fall of 2017 I will be a transfer student. The choice to transfer wasn’t hard at all. I was born and raised in Jacksonville and miss home terribly. After not being happy at the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida I knew I needed to move back home to Jacksonville and finish up my degree at the best school in Jacksonville, which happens to have a good exercise science program. I chose to transfer UNF’s Exercise Science program because I miss home, but also because I have heard great things about the program from former and current students.
I know with my great experience, drive, and future college education from CCU that great things are not too far ahead. Another event that caused me to venture back into the college arena is the insatiable appetite I have for knowledge. When I started my college search this last time I really looked closely at what all the schools had to offer. I found CCU and I felt like my search had ended but my journey had just begun. College has always been a place I enjoyed going, it is a symbol to me that there is hope for a better tomorrow. WKU, the college I attended straight out of high school, brings back some of the best memories I have ever experience. It gave me a sense of pride when I passed my classes, it improved my social skills, and it brought me closer to my responsibilities. I believe that with an associate’s degree from CCU in Healthcare Administration new doors will open, opportunities will knock. In wrapping up this essay, it seems that there are many events in play that have influenced me not only to future my education, but to attend CCU as
The profession that I plan to pursue is Music Education. Music Education is the field of study dealing with the teaching and learning of music. It touches on the development of the affective domain, including music appreciation and sensitivity. Even though the profession that I plan in pursing includes me taking mostly music related classes, I know it is important that I have liberal arts foundation that will help me succeed in securing my desired job and doing well in my career.
Continuing with my graduate studies at UNO would be vital to my continual growth and developmental, in both the academic and professional realms. Having done my Undergraduate studies at UNO was an eye opening and extremely beneficial opportunity which I will be eternally grateful for having and something that I would love to continue with my Graduate studies within the university. Completing my Bachelors of Arts at UNO granted me the opportunity to work with amazing professors who helped shape me into who I am today and granted me the opportunity to expand my knowledge further than the classroom with helping me to conduct my own research. I was able to conduct two research projects focusing on the issues the Hispanic population face, both of which have been presented at the Midwest Sociological Society’s Annual Meetings. My hope is
Life is a continual learning process, which requires a strong method to develop better ways of apprenticeship. Personally, being able to obtain a higher education gives me an opportunity to be better in many ways. Everyone should have any personal goals in life in order to survive, prosper and succeed in every journey that life gives. As for me, being a University of Phoenix student, I hope to achieve all of my goals on which I have been trying to pursue and obtain through the years. They are goals that I believe I need to have to be a successful member of the society, and through attending the university I also hope to gain a more positive image of myself, build my personal growth, along with achieving
Everyone has different intentions for going to college, I chose to attend in order to advance and gain new skills, to experience the college life, and discover God’s plan for my life.
It tops the rankings across the board within the Pac-12 Conference, is named the No.1 overall Collegiate Athletic Program, and holds the record for a total of one hundred and twenty-six NCAA championships won. Most importantly, UCLA holds one of the most successful and competitive women’s swim team in the nation, and offers countless opportunities for swimmers like me to compete with them. Not only would I be able to swim in a state of the art facility with a championship-level swim team, but I would be able to live in one of the most exquisite and beautiful campuses in the nation. The fact that UCLA provides so many endless opportunities and rewarding paths to take, has assured me that I would never find myself stuck without interest since it offers three thousand possible courses to take. From the successes of the athletic programs, to the range of possible majors to pursue, UCLA has many factors that continue to interest me into pursuing it, and is worthy of receiving the blue and gold medal to match its blue and gold
UMUC offers numerous courses in Psychology so as to provide students with the knowledge that they will need in order to be successful in their future careers. The curriculum offered ensures that students acquire a knowledge base of theory, research, and practice in psychological sciences. Although some of the courses offered are required in order to obtain an undergraduate degree in Psychology, many are available to choose from that meet the interests and needs of each student as well. Upon graduation I plan to search for a job as a Childcare Director. Fortunately, the classes in psychology that I have completed have given me the knowledge and critical thinking skills that I need to be successful as well as given me a deeper understanding of how children develop and learn. The psychology courses that I have taken are:
I feel university would allow me to expand my knowledge and interests, but I also feel it would allow me to grow and develop my discipline and teamwork skills. University has always been one of my biggest goals, I have a passion for succeeding and to open new opportunities for myself, I am self motivated and this shows in my want to make a difference -no matter how big or small and I am aware that no matter where I end up in life I can make that
This paper evaluates the benefits of obtaining a higher education. There are many advantages to obtaining a college degree that can benefit the overall wellbeing of an individual. Society will also benefit as a whole due to the nature of one’s intelligence within a community. As for the human race knowledge is power, and power can do great things.
Higher education is optional, but to enter a respectable career, one must continue their education in order to achieve his financial and/or personal goals. Teenagers who attend college use their extended schooling to further obtain knowledge. The primary objective of higher education is to enhance one’s abilities for his future. A student can learn from school in numerous ways, but liberal education is not a way to attract students into further and higher education. However, students can learn a lot more through experiences that have affected their personal lives. I agree with author Mike Rose’s theory that education needs are reached to obtain a higher academic level by teaching students information that can be related to their personal
