INTRODUCTION
What is global warming? Everybody in this day and age has an idea or at least a vague representation of what the term global warming is or what it entails, a simple definition culled from livescience.com explains global warming as follows “ Global warming is the term used to describe a gradual increase in the average temperature of the Earth’s atmosphere and its oceans, a change that is believed to be permanently changing the Earth’s climate”.
Some of the terms that will be used frequently are explained below;
Climate:The weather conditions prevailing in an area in general or over a long period of time.
Climate change: The change in the statistical distribution of weather patterns that last for an extended or long period of time
Anthropogenic: Resulting from the influence of human beings on nature (simply put; caused by humans)
Greenhouse gases: Any gas that absorbs infrared radiation in the atmosphere, Examples of greenhouse gases important to this discussion are: Carbon dioxide, Methane, Ozone, Nitrous Oxide e.t.c This point of this essay, as the topic identifies, is to discuss global warming and the actions taken. Therefore the breadth of this essay will discuss Global warming; Its Causes, Its Effects and Its Solutions.
