When we are jealous we worry that our partner might find someone else more appealing and we fear that he or she will reject us. Since we feel threatened that our partner might find someone more attractive, we may activate jealousy as a way to cope with this threat. Similar to other forms of worry, jealousy leads us to focus only on the negative. We interpret our partner’s behaviour as reflecting a loss of interest in us or a growing interest in someone else. It results into insecurities and misunderstandings and ultimately we don’t trust our partners which causes the separation. The only reason for this is that we consider other people more cool and attractive than ourselves and we are not confident enough that our partner deserves us or not. And when we start hating some people just because they a good in some other thing or has anything better than us. We automatically think that our partner does not want to stay with us. And this is the reason why we start hating any small comment from our partner and start to think that he or she is searching for flaws in him. Jealousy is just another part of everyday life. As shown in Bobbie Ann Mason's "Being Country", it's not always easy to look at the bright side. For example, when Mason's family was eating dinner, she called it "fuel for work". Instead of looking to the negative side, she could've been grateful that she had food. Rather than looking at the positive side, we as humans like to generate an invalidating conclusion from unfortunate events in our lives to people that seem more fortunate. Envy and desire were two feelings that I experienced while growing up. Accepting these feelings weren't hard, turning them into ambitions were.
Jealousy. We all have it. It’s the little green monster in your pocket. It’s the devil on your left shoulder. Everyone is jealous, but what is worse is when it’s your own family. I believe that jealousy is never the best policy. I believe jealousy comes from someone believing that you have more than they do, so instead of encouraging, they are so insecure about themselves, that they feel obligated to criticize for all the wrong reasons.
Some people know jealousy as "green envy." Some people just know it as plain old jealousy, but everyone knows jealousy and the pain it can cause. Jealousy is a nasty emotion, causing nice people to act mean, calm people to act rash, and even the steadiest of tempers to rise. It lashes out with harsh actions and words, hurting many innocent victims. Jealousy causes people to act in abnormal ways, devious ways of hatred and deception, ways that most people would not normally act. Ultimately, jealousy is caused by a certain insecurity that a person has. This insecurity comes from not having what you desire, allowing you to be jealous of those who have it. Three main things that cause insecurity

In the play Othello, jealousy is shown to be very evident through the actions of the characters. Jealousy is an emotion that everyone shares, and it is ultimately responsible for the tragic ending of the play. Everyone feels jealous at certain times of their lives, and this feeling can cause people to do irrational things. This human emotion also shows people to be weak in the sense that they are never happy with what they have. Shakespeare shows through Othello, Iago, Roderigo, and Brabantio that jealousy is the most corrupt and destructive emotion.

In specific terms, the authors sought to find negative and positive aspects of jealousy and how they associate with drinking problems and IPV perpetration. The results indicated that there are positive and negative dimensions to jealousy; however, these dimensions predict outcomes differently. For instance, negative jealousy, may increase the chance of committing IPV. In addition, the results indicated that drinking problems do have an association with IPV perpetrators.

There are many instances throughout the play that show jealousy between the characters. Throughout the play, jealousy is used for destructive purposes only. Envy is suggested to be a waste of mental energy by author Joseph Epstein. The well accredited movement leader Buddha would likely agree with this idea as he states, “Do not overrate what you have received, nor envy others.(Cite) He who envies others does not obtain peace of mind” which suggests that by wasting energy to envy others the ability to reach a peace of mind is impractical. In the book Envy, Joseph Epstein writes a series of chapters to define what he claims to be invidious envy. The claim Epstein makes is that invidious envy is poor mental hygiene. He believes that this type of true envy can block clarity which can affect ones judgment and produce a humble opinion of ones self. In addition, envy can cloud the ability to be generous
When a person first thinks of murder, envy probably is not their second thought, but it should be their third. Statistically speaking, jealousy ranks number three in the most common motives for manslaughter. So although it may seem like a simple enough emotion, many feelings coincide. To most, it is a stressful and unwanted inner conflict that can cause or further aggravate thoughts of insecurity and inadequacy. Also, apparently, violence-inducing rage.
Envy can also derive from a sense of low self-esteem that results from an upward social comparison
