1.1 Robots and Robotics
Before talking about mobile robots first let’s start with the main definitions of robot and robotics.
In short sentences, the robotics is the science or the area in science focusing on the relation or the link between perception and action.
The robot is the device or machine that can automatically perform one or several tasks that can be done by human via remote control, or by preprograming being controlled and powered with Artificial intelligence.[1]
Mobile robot is a kind of automatic robots that have the ability to move around (walking/rolling) or inside (stationary) specific area.
Most mobile robots share some common parts such as locomotive parts, power supply , control and signal processing parts, and maybe

They are used by many countries such as America, Russia , china ,Iran and Israel. Figure (3) : Design and some specification of Iranian drone Fotros robots so popular for space discovering and for military which you can find tens of examples such as wildcat and big dog robot (Figure 4) which manufactured by American company Boston dynamics many robots also used for education and in institutions and universities.
1.2 Historical brief:
The history of robots it general is really deep in history since the ancient civilizations , one of old robotic designs is mostly belong to Leonardo da Vinci , no evidence that he made it but the design was humanoid robot that can wave its arms , sit up and with its neck can move the head.
The word "robotics" was first used in 1941 by the Science fiction writer Isaac Asimov.
Developments of robots and automated machines increased rapidly various aspects of life from military to health to manufacturing to gaming and space. The following Figure gives a glance about the development of
Looking back in early 80’s, no one thought that world will reshape as it has reshaped. The significant pillar in reshaping the world has been introduction of technology in almost every sector starting from pharmaceuticals to retail stores. There is a reason to call this time as modern time and that reason is technology. Technology has advanced to this extent that robotics are now involved in almost every sector. A small and simple example of robotics can be taken of the electronic shutter installed in a store or shop. The industry of robotics has turned in to billion dollar industry. Industries such as automobile, telecommunication, power generation and steel manufacturing have extensive usage of robotics in production. Japan is among the pioneers
Movement a robot needs to be able to move around its environment. Whether rolling on wheels, walking on legs or propelling by thrusters a robot needs to be able to move. To count as a robot either the whole robot moves, like the Sojourner or just parts of the robot moves, like the Canada Arm.
You can believe those who say robots will over run the world in the future, but robots have multiple purposes that can do everything and will benefit us. Therefore, robots will play a very important part in our future to do the impossible. Breakthroughs will come quickly for robotic innovations. Driverless cars and new space information may take decades to come, while other completely unexpected robotic applications could
Nowadays robots are known worldwide. It gives us advantages. These advantages are important for engineers or the future engineers as well. If we know how it works, we can use it in the right way that can gives us more benefits than you’ll ever know. Like all of us know, machine-designed things are more accurate than handmade products. For example, drawing a line by our hand and making a line in a drawing program, of course using the program would make such a better and straight line. Facing everyday problems again and again can cause irritation
Robotics back in the 1900’s were considered are due to expensive equipment and programming systems until People started to make them to sell to others and become rich. The robotic industries started with
In this session, the students will learn how robots are designed and constructed. In addition, the students will learn how robots operate to perform various tasks that simplify the lives of humans.
In her article, Kathryn Thornton, looks at the future of robotics, as of now robots depend too much on people for commands and repairs, but in the near future that can certainly change, she mainly focuses on explaining the potential that robotic science has and even explain what defines a robot. This article was published by national geographic and has been well researched by the author. This article contains pertinent information on the fairly new field of robotic engineering and what the future may hold for this science. This source shows both the positive and negative effects that robotics could potentially have on our society, the article reinforces the idea of robots being a major future innovation which could potentially save countless
As we all know that the use of robotics has been considered as one of the major revolution in the health care industry and it has been used for wide range of health care facilities all over the gloabe. Robots are used in many applications ranging from manufacturing of drugs, dispensing of the drugs and medicines to the patients in the hospitals and also for monitoring of the important vital statistics of the patients. Now a days,
In the article, “The Robot Invasion” by Charlie Gillis, the author discusses how robots have grown from the early 1990’s, to the present, and what is expected in the future. He discusses how the beginning of robotics went from simple robots to more complex robots. For example, Andrew Vardy, a computer science professor, recently created toy-sized robots that could see and was able to sort pucks by color (Gillie, 2012, p. 478). The biggest challenge faced with the growth of robots is the capability to respond to changes in the surroundings. However, there is hope for robots evolving because James McLurkin, a professor from Rice University, programmed robots smaller than a hamburger with simple combinations of tasks like following the leader, escaping deadlocks, and even cleaning floors of bread crumbs (p.479) Since 2005, a Massachusetts based company Kiva Systems, has been selling automated warehouse systems using hundreds of robots that are able to get merchandise from storage to shipping (p. 479). The warehouse system can triple distribution productivity. Humanoid robots are being used by the military field, due to their high market price. Baxter, is the first humanoid industrial use robot available for approximately $22,000.00. Many people are skeptical about the growth in technology, when it comes to robots, because they fear they could replace jobs that humans perform. Thomas Frey, an American Futurist, doesn’t look at robots taking over human jobs. He sees advancements for humans to adapt to the future of robots, as robot designers, engineers, and dispatchers. He feels humans and robots can grow together.
To begin, robotic development allows for technological growth as well as more convenience. Over the years, there have been many inventions made, that make life a lot easier. A lot of these new creations, were inspired by older developments, but they were improved for a product easier to
“Artificial intelligence is growing up fast, as are robots whose facial expressions can elicit empathy and make your mirror neurons quiver” ( Diane Ackerman). Today robots are used to do the same actions or jobs that are considered dangerous to humans. Robots are used because its cheaper, easier and sometimes its the only way to get things done. Robotics are the branch of technology that deals with the design, construction, operation, and application of robots. Robotics today are used to help improve healthcare, surgical procedures, and automobile driving. Robotics are helpful to mankind.
Imagine if you would not need to help Mom and Dad, carrying stuff for them or cleaning up after them! You can have a robot help you with your daily activities such as cleaning your room, washing your car, and even wiping for you once you are done using the bathroom. A robot is a machine designed to complete or carry out multiple tasks when programmed to do so. Robots play a huge role in discovery, such as Mars Curiosity Rover, that is used to observe Mar’s surface and environment. We have used Robots to study the moons surface to see what it is like and to learn more about space. We use robots today in military by using them to disarm bombs and find enemy locations. Robots will have a positive impact on our future, because robots will help us to discover more in the ocean and space, help us save lives, and aid in the military.
These types of robots are said to be locomotive in nature. They change their position with the help of wheels, which make it easier for them to move from one place to another. Some of their examples include single wheel robots, two wheel, and military robots and so on.
In analyzing how the use of robots changed the world, we are going to look at three
The earliest robots were crude. Robots have evolved since then to the point that their presence may well remind one of a science fiction tale. There is one that acts as doctor, rolls over the patient,
