The MSDS books and charts have helped instruct employees in the dangers of certain chemicals and how to deal with the handling and cleanup of these dangerous chemicals and materials. The MSDS charts and books let the employees find certain numbers to call to assist them in case of an accident. In addition to hand hygiene, another effective control is using personal protective equipment. This can be introduced as a policy. All clinicians and other employees who are exposed to blood and body substances should be provided equipment to protect themselves. The examples of personal protective equipment are respirators, gloves, aprons, fall protection, and full body suits, as well as head, eye and foot protection.
