Kingdom: Animalia Phylum: Chordata Class: Mammalia Order: Carnivora Family: Procyonidae Genus: Procyon Species: Procyon lotor Binomial classification: Northern Raccoon 2. General Background Originally raccoons lived in the tropics where they could be found hunting along riverbanks. Over time they moved north up the continent, successfully adapting to new territories and expanding their diet. Raccoons are among the most adaptable of the Carnivora, able to live comfortably in cities and suburbs as well as rural and wilderness areas. They use small home ranges, as small as 1—3 square km, and show flexibility in selecting denning sites, from tree hollows to chimneys to sewers. (Northern Raccoon..). Raccoons do not migrate but they do move within a home range. They will not spend any more time on one portion of the home range than any other portion.
One of the largest rodents is the Sciuridae family is the Woodchuck (Marmota Monax) or more commonly known as the Groundhog. It is a fairly common animal most heavily found in the north and north eastern parts of the United States and across most of Canada (Encyclopedia of Life, 2015). Most Woodchucks choose to live in a habitat of grasslands or along the edge of a forest. They tend to like a cooler climate, but during the heart of winter they will hibernate in burrows that they dig throughout the year. The Woodchuck is a incredibly interesting animal that creates elaborate burrows for homes and one of the true hibernators.
People wear a mask even when they are not forced to. It is just a self-fulfillment so they can live and fit in with the society. 1838, slavery still existed and it was common. Slavery owners felt no remorse of stepping over the slaves and using them for what they wanted. Some slaves were freed from their masters, but they were still in danger. Racism was harsh for these black Americans. They would suffer from harsh segregation, or unfair treatment, which led them to wear a mask.
America. They also live in Canada and Mexico. Grizzly Bears on the other hand live in an
We explored the role of demography, seasonal, environmental and anthropogenic drivers on the structure of burrow-use based contact network of desert tortoises. Desert tortoise spend majority of time in burrows, and simultaneous or asynchronous use of common burrows might play a role in the spread URTD from infected to susceptible individuals. We find that seasonal variation has a strong impact on tortoise burrow use behavior. Our results also show that older burrows and burrows located in higher topographical positions tend to be visited by more tortoises and, therefore, have the potential of serving as hot-spots of URTD spread in desert tortoise populations. In addition, we investigated the effect of three major population stressors affecting this species (translocation, drought, disease), and find that translocation alters tortoise burrow use behavior, with translocated animals visiting fewer burrows than
The dire wolves lived in grasslands, forests, and places with high elevation. They originally were from South America; it is possible that they migrated to North America. Most people think that they migrated from North America to South America, so most people aren’t really certain on where they originated. However, “most scientists say that they originated from South America” (10 Fierce Facts About Dire Wolves, paragraph 10). They migrated by using the frozen ice in the Ice Ages to get to North America.
The capybara, the world’s largest rodent, lives in lowlands throughout South America. Only the western coast and southern tip of the continent lacks the presence of the species. These animals live in large territories covering both grasslands and water sources with their group, which can range in size from 40-100 individuals at a single water source. The capybara feeds on grass, eating up to 3 kgs a day. The capybara utilizes front incisors to chop short grass, with 80% of the grass being eaten consisting of 5 species. The capybara groups are believed to be created as protection from predators, like foxes, bush dogs, ocelots, caymans, jaguars, eagles, and black vultures. The capybara is also hunted by humans and breed by humans for meat and fur.
Bobcats is found in a variety of habitats across the southern half of North America and southern parts of Canada right down to southern Mexico. They closely related to the larger and more northerly dwelling Canadian Lynx. However, their habitat in the desert, swamp, Mountainous forest, and even in suburban areas in some places. The Bobcat is an incredibly elusive predator that hunts its prey by stalking it silently in the dark before pouncing on it with incredible force, and despite their size Stalking it silently in the dark before pouncing on it with incredible force, and despite their
Jaguars live in Texas, in the zero Colorado mountains in Arizona. Jaguars are on a diet and the only thing they eat is meat. But some jaguars live in cold climates (black jaguars), they also live in warm, dry climate. Jaguars do not stay in the same place they migrate to different places because they all are eliminating out of the United States so they have to migrate to a different state
“Black And Blue”, by Louis Armstrong and “We Wear The Mask”, by Paul Laurence Dunbar both take a further meaning in a profound way of Ellison's work. Louis Armstrong poetically writes “what did I do? Tell me, what did I do to be so black and blue?” The way in which it flows suggests that Armstrong brings what happens in society (desegregation) and incorporates it into his lyrics. The tempo of the song makes me question, was he sad or happy. Are the lyrics making him out to be black or white? “Black and Blue” is a completely different concept and teaching from “We Wear The Mask”, being that they want to hide their emotions with a different face. Armstrong sings “I’m white on the inside, but that doesn't help my case Cause I can’t hide what is on my face” his emotions pour out of emptiness on the inside and he can’t help but show it on face.
Reading this novel was the first begin noticing, Who is the said to have the right choices? the question has floods.
Habitat:The exact range of the capuchin monkey is not known, although it is assumed that they inhabit a large range in Brazil and other parts of Latin America. Capuchin monkeys usually live in large groups (10 - 35 individuals) within the forest, although they can easily adapt to places colonized by humans.
Snow leopard live in many countries but are mostly never seen because they're rare and almost insticked animal but some of the countries they live in are Pakistan, Afghanistan, China, Russia, Bhutan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Nepal, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. Snow leopards also live in snow, desserts, or even forests, but is mostly never seen that much as you can see in snow. What do they eat?
The Merriam Webster Dictionary defines “raccoon” as “a small North American animal with grayish-brown fur that has black fur around its eyes and black rings around its tail.” Whoever wrote this definition must not have known how atrocious these creatures really are.
The coyote has very distinctive features and is classified as a member of the canine family. They live in packs and typically mate for life. They are relatively small predators and their ability to adapt well to the environment around them allows them to live almost anywhere. The coyote’s population size and habitat range has increased over the years. There have been spotting’s of coyotes within residential communities because of human expansion into their territories as well. They shift their diet depending on the environment they are in. They are susceptible to a few diseases that specifically affect the dog family. Coyotes typically do not bother people or domesticated pets; however, there have been rare cases where they have attacked and killed a person. Coyote ecology is important to understand in order to get a better sense of the environments they live in and how they affect other wildlife around them.
