Their are so many things that America has given to my generation, one of the most important, and bigger things to me is our freedom. The first way that America fought for our freedom was in 1775 through 1783 when America went to war with Britain. Britain was controlling the U.S, raising tax payments, and Britain gave the Americans lack of representation, America fought and gave our generation, our freedom from Britain. Another example from America giving my generation freedom was in 1861 to 1865, for the battle of African American freedom. This war was America's war against themselves, it was between the Union and Confederate states, This freed African Americans from being treated so unspeakable, without this war, slavery of the African
African Americans helped shape the civil war in many ways. In fact, they were basically the underlying cause for the war in the first place. African Americans were slaves and had been treated like property since they first arrived in America. Therefore, the possibility of freedom for these slaves caused a big uproar in the south. The issue of equal rights for African Americans, the country’s ignorance to African American’s abilities and willingness to learn caused a divide between the states. The strong differing opinions about slavery led to what is known as the bloodiest U.S. war of all time.
The bloodiest war in American history, that’s what most people think when they hear Civil War. Not only was it the bloodiest war, it was a war for a change. This war started off as states’ rights but as the war progressed it soon became a fight to end slavery. The Civil War was indeed a pivotal point in our nation’s history due to African Americans earning the chance to fight the same people who once enslaved and tortured them. What led to African Americans involvement in the fight? How did African Americans impact the outcome of the Civil War?
African Americans had a vested interest in the outcome of the Civil War, for they were fighting for their freedom and their human rights. As slaves, they worked to undermine the Confederate war effort even as they were forced to labor for the Confederacy. Many slaves escaped to the Union Army and became contraband of war. African-American men, women, and children lived in contraband camps and provided menial labor for the Union.
For a long time period, African Americans were mistreated and taken advantage of by the whites. The Civil War was their chance for change, and they took it. However, African Americans weren’t allowed to fight immediately when the war broke out. It was when the Emancipation Proclamation was signed in 1863 by Abraham Lincoln stating “All persons held as slaves within any states…in rebellion against the United Sates shall be then, thenceforward, and forever free.” By stating slaves were free, this allowed for African Americans soldiers to officially fight for the first time.
The war had a significant impact on African Americans, more so the one’s that lived in the South. The years of the War was the same time period that the Great Migration happened, which was one of the largest internal movements of people in American
Many African Americans got freedom and many didn’t which resulted in them being enslaved again or dying. The Revolutionary War caused too many deaths and unfair
The war propelled us to a higher standard, got rid of the lashes, the brutalities of our masters upon us. A whole world was we do not have to think what will happen to our family members, where will they go. A world of freedom. I remember after this victory was not just for the progressive change for the country for not just my brothers and sisters but for all as well, the southern states still felt the need to be prejudice against us. Coming up with new laws after the war called the Black Codes. These laws were cruel in not letting us testify against a white man, serve injuries or serve in the militia. Black tenant farmers and sharecroppers needing to sign labor contracts with white landowners. Punished if not done so. Free slaves living in the south were still surrounded by past memories. Laws that brought the memo of who still ran the land in the south.
People may believe that the civil war was fought over many other factors. However, the cause, events and results were more for the slaves and their benefits. Therefore, war was over African American’s freedom and equality. Every single choice Abraham Lincoln made has benefited the African American. African Americans were forced to follow unfair rules and regulation. They were forced to work on plantation without having a choice a to make. They were considered irrelevant. Abraham Lincoln did not like the idea of slavery at all If it did not
In the first part of the war it started out for freedom, and protecting the image and heritage that both sides felt made for a good life, the best way. They fought because they no longer could agree to disagree on the way things should be, and this was partially because the west and free labor VS. slavery. It was also partially out of fear. Fear that if they didn’t act, they would loose their liberties and freedoms. They felt that had to take action and they had to take action now. And then towards the end of this war we also see African Americans fight in the war. Which to me makes since. This war was about freedom, so after many centuries of not having them, they fact they were being allowed to contribute and in some way make a turning point
The black slaves played an important part of the war. Most black people did not help americans only 10 to 15 black soldiers and some slaves actually helped fight the british soldiers these men well the ones who lived got rewarded for their loyalty.
The American Civil War was a time wrought with peril. Families were split along party lines and took up arms against one another to fight for what they believed was right. Yet there was one group of people who had more to gain than any other present in the war, and that was the African American slave. This war was one of the biggest turning points in the morality of America all because of what happened to the slave in this war. They enlisted in the army, fought bravely, and after long last, gained their freedom.
The Civil War Africans that participated in the Civil War were major contributors to the cause and were even one of the main reasons that America won the war overall. Since the beginning of America, there have been African Americans that have been put to the test of defending our country. Whether they wanted to or not, they had to bear an arm to defend
The Civil War was a changing point for every American, North and South. Slavery which held its prominence in the South was ruled illegal by the North after the war. All Americans were declared free men and women. The original goal of our country, freedom for every man, was finally fulfilled. The road to recovery for the African American population began. Even though slavery was a distant memory it still had a effect on people. “Freedom now appeared, to disappear no more forever”, Frederick Douglass said in the ¨Narrative of the life of Frederick Douglass”, an American Slave¨. The ending of slavery changed a lot for America
The Civil War changed American’s forever because they fought for what was right. They wanted slavery to end and so they made it happen. They thought that if they stopped slavery we would live in peace with the colored. President Lincoln wanted to also stop it because it wasn’t right for the slaves to be treated badly.
When most people hear the term “Civil War”, most people think of the enslavement of African Americans. This makes sense because that played a extremely big role in the American Civil War.
