The Civil War changed American’s forever because they fought for what was right. They wanted slavery to end and so they made it happen. They thought that if they stopped slavery we would live in peace with the colored. President Lincoln wanted to also stop it because it wasn’t right for the slaves to be treated badly.
The Civil War was a defining time in American history as the outcome of the war determined what kind of nation America would become. Due to uncompromising
African Americans helped shape the civil war in many ways. In fact, they were basically the underlying cause for the war in the first place. African Americans were slaves and had been treated like property since they first arrived in America. Therefore, the possibility of freedom for these slaves caused a big uproar in the south. The issue of equal rights for African Americans, the country’s ignorance to African American’s abilities and willingness to learn caused a divide between the states. The strong differing opinions about slavery led to what is known as the bloodiest U.S. war of all time.
Depending on the outlook one takes, the Civil War changed America for better or worse. The Civil war was known as the bloodiest war that took place in the United States, and it killed many people. It was a war in which the Union states (Northern America) faced secessionists from the Confederate states (Southern America). The Civil war was due to a division between the Confederate and the Union states because the South wanted to keep their slaves but the North wanted to abolish slavery. It lasted from 1861 to 1865, changing America forever.
The Civil War was a turning point in both American and World history. Many believed that America could not support democracy but this war showed that with resilience and perseverance one can achieve anything. The Civil War took over 1 million lives, destroying cities and farmland throughout the war. This was the deadliest and most destructive war in American history because all of the battle were fought amongst Americans on American soil. At the end of the Civil War, slaves were free but they were not given equal rights. With the end of the Civil War, many significant changes occurred. Some of these changes include Black Codes, discrimination, and peace between the North and the South.
The Civil War had revolutionary effects on American society, the most important of which was the destruction of slavery, the fundamental institution of southern society. The emancipation of America’s 4 million slaves, in numbers, scale, and economic value, was far greater than any other emancipation of slaves or serfs (in Russia) in the world. At the war’s beginning, Lincoln identified the North’s cause with the cause of free labor. But Lincoln also initially stated that the conflict was not being fought to end or limit slavery, but to preserve the Union. He wanted to keep the border slave states of Delaware, Maryland, Kentucky, and Missouri in the Union and build the broadest possible base of support for the war in the North.
The Civil War united the nation and expanded America mainly through slavery. Since slavery was a very partisan issue between the North and the South, ending the issue through the Civil War made the United States more of a united whole. During the Civil War, there was a call for many war materials. This led to a rise of factories and large companies to meet this demand, and after the war, these companies turned the munition into civilian business, allowing for economic growth in the United States. Also, there were lots of changes to the United States. The rise of large industrial corporations made lots of consumer goods, and railroads became huge with companies created for the sole purpose of building railroads. New legislation occurred as well, such as the Homestead Act of 1862. Signed into law by Abraham Lincoln during the Civil War, this act would eventually result in the transfer of 270 million acres of public lands to private individuals. The Civil War gave rise to not only contributed to our fundamental goal of Manifest Destiny, but to the rise of Westward Expansion.
The Civil War was fought in the United States of America between the northern and southern states starting in 1861 and ending in 1865. The Civil War was the most significant time in the history of America. The Civil War was to be thought as the shaping of the American individual. The northerners and the southerner’s views on this war were different. The northerners viewed it as a revolutionary war and the southerners viewed it as rebellion. The war started out due to the many differences between the northern and southern states. Between these two regions laid economic, social and political differences, with slavery being the main root of the differences. As the war ended it caused many social and economic changes. One huge change was the abolishment of slavery. Race relation and slave confusions were tearing up the country’s political and social architecture. I believe that the Civil War has changed the way we look at this world today because once the Civil War came to an end it abolished slavery.
The Civil War was a very significant time in American history. The Civil War was fought between the Confederate States of America and the United States of America. Most people say the Civil War was a war that was fought to end slavery, which it was for most of the population. The Civil War was fought from 1861 to 1865 to determine the survival of the Union. The South wanted slaves to help run there farming plantations. Southern slave owners did not want their way of life threatened or changed, life had been the same for them for generations. Those Americans from the North were considered more progressive and had more influence from other cultures which helped open their eyes to the horrors of slavery. But for many of the men, going to war was a chance to escape boredom and some came because it was the right thing to do (p. 28).
The Civil War changed americans because of how everyone argued and they all went to war about state rights and slavery. Among the 34 states, seven Southern slave states individually declared their separation from the rest of the states to form the Confederate States of America. So many people didn't agree with slavery so they went to war to solve the conflict. They fought for 4 years and 620,000 to 750,000 soldiers died. The result of the American Civil War was that slavery abolished, territory integrity was preserved, and union victory.
During the period of 1861 to 1865 there was a war that changed the whole entire history of United States. This war was called “The Civil War”. The Civil War was a war between the Northern and the Southern states. The northern states formed together and were called the Union and the Sothern states were called the Confederate. The Confederate wanted to stay separate from the Union and keep control of their slaves. The Confederates believed slaves where needed because of large amount of agriculture and vast array of land in the south. In the north it is cold most of the year so the agriculture is not a plentiful as it was it the southern states where the weather is great. During this challenging time in America, Abraham Lincoln was the President
The American Civil War was a time wrought with peril. Families were split along party lines and took up arms against one another to fight for what they believed was right. Yet there was one group of people who had more to gain than any other present in the war, and that was the African American slave. This war was one of the biggest turning points in the morality of America all because of what happened to the slave in this war. They enlisted in the army, fought bravely, and after long last, gained their freedom.
The civil war was a monumental moment for the United States. Whether the citizens at the time realized this or not, this event would change America forever. Firstly, and most obviously, we have come from a country that was free for white, male, christian, Americans, to a country that is equal for all people. The civil war started this movement of reinforcing the basis of the constitution that everyone is created equal. To the extent that we as a country were able to do after the country was in shambles because of the war is quite remarkable. How we were able to create the 14th amendment arguably the most important one in our constitution today, and is being tried as of right now with homosexual marriage rights. We were willing to help people get out of the destruction of the war. With acts that helped educate, feed, and shelter the poor. However not all was good. The south, unwilling to accept the changes so rapidly, took the first chance they got of taking away the liberties and rights of the African Americans, as you later see. As Frederick Douglass had put it “Civil war was not a mere strife for territory and dominion, but a contest of civilization against barbarism”.
The outburst of the Civil War forever changed the future of the American nation. At first, it began as a fight to protect the Union, not as a struggle to free the slaves. Many citizens from the North and South felt that the conflict would ultimately decide both issues. Slavery was one of the primary issues which physically divided the northern U.S. from the Southern U.S. during the Civil War. Even after the Reconstruction Era it continue to divide the two. The Southern resistance to ending slavery was the main reason as to why the South believed in rejecting outsider ideals and it helped establish the Southern Code of Honor that emphasizes aggression and violence.
In the Civil War the North had many advantages over the South. The South was outnumbered, out supplied, and pushed into a corner using military tactics. Many things changed because of the Civil War. The military tactics used by the North changed how war was fought from then on. Many changes were made politically; some were only temporary, while others were permanent. After the war was over, the country was reunited and the image of the soul and duty of our country redefined.
The Civil war was one of three major events that shaped American History because, before the civil war. The north and south stated divided and everyone picked a side, Different cultures and political principles developed. All of this steered to differences on issues such as taxes, tariffs and inner improvements as well as states’ rights against federal rights. The boiling issue that headed to the trouble of the union, yet, was the discussion over the future of slavery. That argument led to secession, and secession gotten about a war in which the Northern and Western states and regions fought to preserve the Union, and the South fought to launch Southern independence as a new confederation of states beneath its own constitution.
