What Is The Purpose Of Forgiving And How It Affect Others

By definition, to forgive is to accept and let go of the offences done against one, and by doing so, be able to remember them without rancor. In other words, the man thought to be forgiving is one who does not totally forgets the wrongs committed against him (because that is a quite impossible action). In reality, the forgiving man is one who is able to recall all those wrongs, and still be at peace with himself and with the offender in question. This activity is quite difficult to do, namely because in order to truly forgive, one must have strong convictions. This can be understood better if we consider how easier it is to hate a person for something he or she did to one, instead of absolving he or she of all fault and consequently accepting to love the person after the wrong committed. Therefore, the moral virtue of forgiveness becomes easier when the determination of giving second chances becomes a habit.

Forgiveness is not just practiced by saints and not only benefits its recipients but have strong connection with person’s physical, mental and spiritual health. It plays a great role in the health of families, communities and nations. Forgiveness provides common ground for love, acceptance, harmony and true happiness Most spiritual and religious leaders of the world will agree that forgiveness of oneself and others is one way to clear the mind, heart and soul and may result in a feeling of increased peace and happiness.

Life has ups and downs, it may stab you in the back, but it’s a choice to forgive and forget about it. Forgiveness is something that helps people move on. For every person, the word forgiveness has a different meaning, for me it means leaving behind actions from my past. Personally, I like to think that forgiveness is a way to start over whether in a friendship or in life. If the opportunity presented itself to me to explain the word, forgiveness, to someone I would simply reply that it is the idea of setting yourself free from all the hate one has been holding.

Forgiveness is very important throughout life. If people don't forgive, they are going to be stuck in the past always remembering about the mistake that person did. Forgiving someone can make yourself feel better because you know you forgave that person and there's no negativity between you and that person.

Often we are asked the question, can justice and forgiveness go hand in hand? A lot of people believe they can’t. That only one can exist not the other. For some it’s true, they only believe someone can either give forgive, or justice, neither both. Then there are the few people who believe they go hand in hand, one can’t exist without the other. That’s true as well. I’m not sure where I stand exact on the line for these two, maybe exactly on the line. I believe they go hand in hand and in some cases only one works, all depending on the situation. Now we’ve read a number of stories regarding this, but most of them doing with forgiveness and justice going hand in hand. I’m going to talk about a few of these stories, and see where you fall

Forgiving is vital and is shown frequently throughout the book in the characters relationships. One example where healing is shown is when Kumalo forgives his sister Gertrude. Forgiving is not easy in every situation but it leads to healing. “ His eyes fill with tears, his deep gentleness returns to him. He goes to her and lifts her from the floor of the chair. Inarticulately he strokes her face, his heart filled with pity. -God forgives us, he says. Who am I not to forgive? Let us pray.” (Paton 61). As Kumalo mentions, God always forgives us, every single day and as great as God is there is no reason to we should not forgive. Although it is difficult it will only heal relationships in our life rather than separate them.

Forgiving others frees us from resentment. Forgiving ourselves is part of positive change. To cease to feel angry or bitter towards a person or about an offence(List of Virtues)”. Slaves may have taken a very long time to forgive the people who had mistreated them, and many may have went back to treat their no longer masters the same way they had been treated. People may explain the horros they had been through during that time, but that may be a way for them to forgive the way they had been treated. Not for the person who had been heartless at the moment or still be heartless but for theirselves, so they no longer feel traumatized,out in the world feel as if someone will run up behind them and still them once again from their family. It enables us to be compassionate towards others even when they cause pain towards us. One life experience that really impacted me then and continues to this day is when a friend of mine committed suicide in 6th grade. To keep it short, he was dealing with severe depression for a couple of months on account of being bullied for a long time.The problem with suicide of a loved one or friend is that it has a powerful, lasting effect on those who they leave behind. I was one of those people who was angry towards his decision to end his life. He had caused me so much pain by his abrupt exit, but eventually I forgave him for what he did to me because I knew that I had to remember him for who he was and not for what he did to himself. This was an incredible accomplishment on my part because after that I felt so relieved to have that weight taken off of me. Lastly, one recent experience of my forgiveness and compassion towards others is when someone broke my trust and betrayed me. This happened when I had texted someone who I thought was my friend with some private information. The next day, I found out that a rumor had started around school about me. It didn't take long for me to realize who had started the rumor. When I confronted my friend about this rumor, at first he denied this as anyone would, but soon he confessed to having betrayed me. He asked for my forgiveness and at first, I was in disbelief of what he was asking me. I initially thought that no friend does that to another friend, but eventually I realized that even if I couldn't mend the broken friendship, I could still make myself feel better about the situation by forgiving

Forgiveness can mean so many things when everyone in the world has a different bird 's eye view of it. Some people think it happens once after someone hurts you others think it take a very prestigious amount of time to forgive. Your worldview, your morals can also have a big affect on the way you perceive forgiveness. When thinking of forgiveness do you think the meaning of it comes from the bible or an emotion in everyday life scientifically or maybe both? In our last step , step 5 of our integration project we will pick apart and elaborate on the steps to integration, the steps to resolving conflict, what forgiveness means to different type of human being with a christian worldview from a biblical viewpoint. We will talk about the agreements and conflicts of the different viewpoints, some diffrent evidence that the different sides brings. I also will bring my own personal experiences with integration. The main thing we which to get out of the last step is understanding something fully by using special and general revelation.

This article guides the reader through steps on how to work towards forgiveness as an individual, through the church, and into the community, and also how to then sustain the forgiving community that has been built through this forgiveness education. Everyone has the control within them to forgive or not to forgive someone. Forgiveness comes down to taking responsibility for the choices we make and doing what we believe is right. By forgiving others, authority of our own lives can be regained by letting go of the conflicting objects from the past and moving into a more significant direction. The world today is full of conflict and people are being hurt every day. Conflict is seen today in politics, between countries, and between your average everyday people. Conflicts such as those listed above are often shaping the atmosphere we live in and shaping the person we are today. To achieve academic success, I will work on being more forgiving to an extent. I think that when it comes down to it, I’m extremely forgiving to others. Even in the worst situations, I still show remorse of where it makes myself look weak and not mature. My views are very different when it comes to forgiveness because in my mind I believe that forgiveness is for everyone. Anyone who has done an act that hurts me in any way, it bothers me a lot that I forgive them. While building my growth mindset I still want to forgive people but to an extent where I still imply that they are in the wrong.

Stephen is able to complete the redemption cycle when he sins, exhibits his flaws, against his sister Gertrude because of his strong connection with Christ and his willingness to seek help from God. Stephen is hurt by his sister's action and proceeds to let his anger out at her when he confronts her: “you have shamed us…a liquor seller, a prostitute, with a child…how could you do this to us?”(Paton 61). When encountering his sister cry from his actions he immediately finds himself ashamed and repents. Stephen turns to God and prays for him and Gertrude, “God forgives us...Who am I not to forgive? Forgiveness is a hard thing to give because forgiveness of another human being involves having you to forgive yourself. It seems a lot easier to withhold forgiveness and remain a victim. The forgiveness that I have given away or I have received has shaped who I am today, therefore becoming a part of me.
