Hi Professor and Classmates,
Therapeutic index refers to the relationship of toxic and therapeutic dosage. According to Smith “therapeutic index of a drug is the ratio of the dose that produces toxicity to the dose that produces a clinically desired or effective response.” Therefore, the dose of the drug is a cause of the toxic and therapeutically. Drugs that are safe to use have a higher index and the dangerous drug has a lower therapeutic index. I think that the most dangerous is the with the higher index because people can overdose or they get addicted to the drug and that’s when they start using illicit drugs. The addiction to barbiturates can be serious because it is measured by the therapeutic index. An example on how phenomenon
For many Americans, there comes a time when people are in need of therapeutic services and need help finding the right treatment for them and or loved one. Often times therapy is very beneficial to people, but is not always offered with their insurance. Therapeutic services should be provided to all patients as a non-evasive treatment option because these services provide nontraditional alternatives that enhance patient care and therefore, insurance companies should cover these services.

There are a multitude of reasons why an individual may need or want therapy; whether it’s due to learning how to cope with a mental disorder or disability, life happenings such as traumas or abuse, addictions, or even PTSD. Anybody can receive it – individual persons, families, or groups. It isn’t hard to argue that most therapists and psychologists will agree that the therapeutic alliance is one of the most beneficial foundations of a therapy session. When deciding whether or not to give a medication to a patient, many things must be taken into account. These conditions are known as indications. The indications for a medication include the most common uses of the drug in treating a specific condition (10). Another thing to be considered are contraindications, which are conditions where the drug should not be given. Contraindications are situations in which the drug should not be administered because of the potential harm that could be caused to the patient (10). The dosage is also important. The dose simply indicates how much of the drug should be given to the patient (10). The actions of the drug must always also be taken into account. The actions are the therapeutic effects the drug will have (10). Side effects of the medications must also be considered. Side effects are actions that are not desired and occur in addition to the desired therapeutic effects. Some side effects are unpredictable (10).

A variance is “the difference between an actual amount and the budgeted amount; labeled as favorable if it increases operating income and unfavorable if it decreases operating income” (Nobles et al., 2014). Budgeted variances are critical to a business, such as Peyton Approved, due to the issues that are causing them. If a business does not take the time to try and figuring out why the variances have occurred then the problems will never be solved and could potential hurt the success of the company. An unfavorable or favorable variance is an honest outcome deriving from the contrast in the actual results and what was budgeted, so business need to take the time and actually ask why the variance is unfavorable. There could be many different reasons ranging from the
In my opinion, the medication side effects are the most important risk to be considered. The reason for my opinion, is the direct relation between the medication side effects and the patients’ safety.

Pharmacology made easy was the third required ATI assignment. ATI defined the word pharmacology as the study of drugs and their effect on the human body. A medicine’s therapeutic effect is stated to be it’s good outcome and the side effects are the negative results from it. There are twelve drug categories divided according to the human’s body system. These are neurological, musculoskeletal, respiratory, endocrine, pain/inflammation, cardiovascular, hematologic, gastrointestinal, reproductive and urinary, and the immune drug category. Medicines in the same category may share the same therapeutic and side effects. Additionally to the above information, this unit explained that there are trade and generic names of drugs. Trade name is the commercial
A broth in test tube labeled #2 was used to identify the unknown organisms. A T-soy agar plate was the first media I inoculated. I used the streak isolation technique to isolate a pure strain from colonies, so that organisms can be identified. I inoculated a MacConckey to help me identify my Gram negative organism and observed that the organism was a non-lactose fermenter, then I performed a Citrase test which was negative. The last test I performed was a TSI, the butt was positive for hydrogen sulfide production and fermentation of glucose. All 3 results helped me conclude that my Gram negative organism was Proteus vulgaris. P vulgaris inhabits the human intestinal tract of human and animals. It is also found in soil, polluted water and fecal matter. This bacterium is
