The Declaration of Independence is a document written by Thomas Jefferson. The document was adopted by congress on July 4th, 1776, which puts this document before the French Revolution. Jefferson is straightforward in naming his document because it deals with America declaring its independence from Great Britain and their tyrant king, King George III. At the time of the document’s drafting, the American people were aggravated with the limitations that King George III has put on them and this document expresses their grievances. The American Revolution and the Declaration of Independence were positive examples in Europe. They showcased that challenging tyranny is possible and that people have the power to change things if they felt oppressed.
