Another thing that made me who I am today is being more determined to graduate with my high school diploma and my Associates Degree in Arts. I have a big goal, and my big goal is to graduate and get involved in a career that I am passionate about that also helps stable my financial life; so that I would give what my parents gave me. Every single day, both my father and mother would tell me to do good in school so I won’t have to suffer as much as they both did when they came to America. They both want me to become successful, and have a better life than them. These words that comes from their mouth is very deep and inspiring to the point that it made me realize that I should start thinking ahead, since I am getting older each year and is closer
My parent have alway said to me, never to give up on what I'm trying to accomplish or the goal that I'm trying to reach even though if it seems impossible. That they will alway support me on anything that I want to do, maybe not financially wise because they will help the best they can. My whole life things were never just handed to me, I worked for them and some people tell me that my parents should do more for me that I shouldn't have to work so hard because I'm just 17 years old that I'll have the rest of my life to work, but I think differently because it made me realize life isn't just fun and games, it helped me mature faster then most kids, it also gave me life skills that will help me out in college and life after college.
Ever since I was a young child, my parents always told me to try my best in school, they always told me this for the reason that they never had the opportunity to have a good job because they never finished school. This event is shaping me to care a lot regarding my education. In addition to that, another event that has shaped me to become the person I am today is that since my parents don’t have good paying jobs they have to work hard to take care of me and my siblings this event has caused me to become a hard working person and to seize all opportunities to live a good life because I don’t want to struggle like my parents.
Ever since I was little, my parents have always helped and encouraged me to give my best. They've taught me to seek excellence, to always be learning, to stay true to my principles and to dream big. To get the kind of grades that
For eighteen years now my parents have influenced me to do my best in academics and extracurricular activities. Both of my parents have gone to college and both have had successful careers. My dad was a highly recognized Police Chief for Waukesha County and is now on the
Thanks to my parents pushing me to do my best, I have an outstanding work ethic in school and on the field. Because of this effort and work put in, I have been a captain on basketball, football, and baseball teams. Not only were my parents important factors but, so were my coaches and teachers. Coaches and teachers have pushed me to do the best I could and told me when I did things wrong, but praised me when I did them right. They helped to slowly build my character, leadership, scholarship and dedication to everything and anything that I do so that when I had to do something it was done the right way instead of halfway.
My parents always encouraged my siblings and I that we were capable of doing anything that we set our minds to. It didn’t matter where or what we wanted to do; all that mattered was if we had the passion to do it and succeed. From that, I was always set on becoming a doctor. It didn’t matter what kind; I just knew I wanted to help people. From a young age, I knew that my parents worked hard so that my siblings and I might have a better life than my parents. Both of my parents came from Vietnam with little to nothing. They both got jobs at Excel before they were twenty, and, after ten years, they met each other and got married. They and bought a motel and restaurant, and managed that for another ten years. They were
When I was 5 my life changed completely. My sister and I were abandoned by our mother and father. I was then raised by my aunt and uncle along with my grandparents. I was taken in and loved as if I was their own. I want to show them and myself that no matter what happens in life that I can succeed and accomplish anything I set my mind to. Therefore, I am pursuing an Associates degree and the first generation in my family to go to college first generation in my family to go to college.
One of the reasons why my parents decided to come to the United States was so that I and my three siblings could have a better future. Also so we could have more education than my parents had to have a better chance in life and better job opportunities. I admire my parents so much because I have witness every single struggle they have been through trying to give us the best and also because they are humble and strong as a family. That’s one of the reasons why I decided to go to college is because I strive to
At a young age I learned thanks to my parents that hard work pays off… only if you are putting in all your effort. Coming to the United States and beginning school were some of the hardest things that I have been through in my life the language barrier was one of the toughest things to surpass but by having people along the way to support me helped me thrive . Being supported by my parents teachers and peers has shaped me into the person I am today; not only do they set standards for me but I set standards for myself and try my best to make all those who have been with me along the way proud, just like Collins describes when he speaks of the thoughts of a successful CEO after leaving his company and seeing the great thing he has transformed a once failing business into. That CEO has not only done something good for himself but also for his companions who once worked alongside him in order to make the company thrive and continue growing after his departure. I can see myself in him because being the first in my family to attend college I am setting an example for the younger people such as my siblings and cousins making them more eager to learn and continue on to have a college education in the
"Education is the key to success" my father always said. This is a motivational quote that will always stick with me because of the impact it has made in my life. Even before my school days I watched my parents whip my siblings into shape to push them to succeed beyond expectations. My siblings worked exceptionally hard in school which paid off when they received awards and recognition. This pushed me to follow in their footsteps and lead me to do well in school and to have a driven mindset. Being a very humble person, I always had friends of different upbringings and futures. Good companions of mine who went to school and did well tend to be better off financially and emotionally. Seeing others progress always and still does makes me want to do well in every educational aspect I am in. I insist on seeing all the work I have put in and will continue to put in pay off. When I use this drive of education to complete college I wish to find the job of my
Everyone as a child has a role model someone that they look up to for advice. This person was my uncle. My uncle was the first person to attend a college. This was the person that embed the idea that I will be following in the footsteps and attend college. My parents at that time did not really push me they were focused on making sure there was food on the table. Also during my middle school year he was the main advocate for me to attend Verbum Dei High School instead of following my cousin and attending Serra High School. He has open my eyes to the injustice in this world.
Education has always been an importance to me. Since no one in my family has been to college. I’m that person that is really relaxed and can make good decision to just about anything. One of the things that I have achieved is soccer, and I have made the high school soccer team and plan on playing for a college team. Living with four siblings my whole life was probably the best thing ever. We all grew up in California in a nice big house, we were all taught to have a really fancy manners. Everyone in my family had good grades before they graduated high school. I am proud that I have gone this far in life and would like to move on to bigger accomplishments. Although I have been through some obstacles that has pushed me down but always managed to get back up.
My mother had to go to work every day in order to provide food and shelter for me and my siblings, my sister and little brother. So every day I had to wake up and my grandpa would take me to school. I loved school, ever since I remember I loved learning and that’s the reason that kept on trying every day waking with an illusion of learning something new every day. My mother had to work in the fields for about 13-14 years picking strawberries. My parents were separated and my siblings and I stayed with my mother. I realized to value every single day and pushed myself even harder in my education because if not it would all be in vain. My biggest goal for me was to graduate in every school such as in elementary, junior high, and high school. When I entered in junior high I realized that I got very interest in mathematics and in art. My English and Spanish skills became better as I entered in Santa Maria High School. As I got older I had to become responsible for the house work and chores but also to take care of my brother. My mom told me that I was very helpful for her since I knew three languages and to translate for
The past 17 years of my life have been good, bad, and full of memories. I have grown a lot over the years psychologically, religiously, and naturally. My choice of music has also broaden. By going through all these has cultivated me into the young man I am today. However, without the help of my parents and other loved ones I would not be the young man I am today also. My parents have influenced me a lot through my lifetime they have pushed to be the best that I can possibly be. My grandparents also influenced me. They are always there for me whenever I need them; my grandfather always tell me he has “high expectations for all of you.” Hearing him say that makes me want to keep going on and do my
Everything my parents have done, has been for my siblings and I to receive a higher education. From pre-school up until the fifth grade, my mom would sit down and help me with my homework. If she did not understand something I would have to wait for my dad to come home from work and ask him. They did the best they could; however, once I began junior high, my parents were no longer able to help me. Books, teachers, and peers were the resources I turned to when I could not comprehend something. My parents bought me books that would have practice problems, writing prompts and examples with explanations, and science experiments. Quickly I realized that if I wanted to excel in my academics, I had to find ways to learn and understand the material. It was then in the sixth grade when I developed a passion for math.
