What Makes Ender's Decision To Go To Battle School?

Ender has a lot to think about towards the end of the book. He had became a captain earlier then a lot of the other captains. Ender was a smart kid and his brother Peter was jealous of him because he got accepted to battle school. Ender also had a sister that was sweet and he loved her. Ender is kinda like both Peter and Valentine they kinda are the same in a way. Ender He killed a lot of people but he isn’t anything like peter. He also have a good heart but he’s also isn’t like valentine. He’s kinda mixed with both of them because he is violent but has a great heart.

Young kids can be easily affected by their surroundings. They learn from the roles of their teachers and their fellow students and peers. This is clearly demonstrated in Ender’s Game, a science fiction novel written by Orson Scott Card. It shows how Ender Wiggin, a very young boy, is put into a position of leadership and what he learns through this experience, Through a computer game, Ender learns that he is a very clever killer. Through his experience as commander, Ender learns that being strict will help him be a better leader and win games. The struggle for identity within Ender’s Game was a common theme throughout the book. Ender’s Game is a book about a boy named Ender who was recruited into the battle school in hopes of unlocking his true potential so he could command the IF as he was humanity’s last hope. His main goal would be beating the buggers who are an alien species who launched two invasions on Earth and Ender was told that a third one would eventually come. Characters such as Ender are pushed to their limits while others hide behind a false identity in hopes of making a change. These characters change as the book progresses on and several instances show the reader the changes that are happening.

Ender understands that he is being offered a spot in Battle School, but does not know that it is the beginning of isolation for him. In the beginning, Graff had already planned to take Ender with him to Battle School and in order for that to succeed; Graff had to persuade Ender that he is making his family’s life harder. “They look at you and see you as a badge of pride, because they were able to circumvent the law and have a Third. But you’re also a badge of cowardice, because they dare not go further and practice the noncompliance they still feel is right. And you’re a badge of public shame, because at every step you interfere with their efforts at assimilation into normal complying society” (23). Ender’s isolation games begin with these words.

In the beginning of the book Ender gets his monitor removed and gets into a fight. The way he handled the fight is what caused colonel Graff to offer Ender to join battle school. In the start of battle school, Ender got picked on a lot, until he killed Bonzo, he was promoted to commander, commanding his own army, he defeated a lot of other armies in the school. In the commanding part of the book, he was getting stressed and losing sleep, he went back to Earth because he didn’t want to be in battle school anymore, then his sister convinced him to go to Eros to train for the bugger war, when he was playing simulations of a bugger invasion, he finally defeated the buggers and Graff told him that the games were actually real, not simulators. After he beat the buggers, another war started on Earth, his sister met with him where he was and told him that he should be governor at another planet and went around to find a new planet for a new era for the buggers.

The commander did this on purpose because he wanted to see how Ender handled the situation. The commanders are constantly manipulating the recruits while they are in battle school because they are testing how all of the children react to adversity. Everytime Ender was faced with a challenge he excelled. He embodies the idea of perfection. Since ender was the perfect recruit most of the other kids despised him because they were jealous.

One was that he was moved from his launchy group to salamander army. Bronzo the leader of salamander army didn't want ender to be in his army because Ender was only six. But Ender did meet a friend in salamander named Petra. Petra basically took Ender under her wing and showed him the basics of the game. Then Bonzo traded Ender to rat army there he meet some pretty nice people. He then started his own training group with his old friends from his launch group, word got out and some of the older boys didn't like that ender was teaching kids how to fight. So they ganged up and tried to fight Ender and his friends. They older boys didn't know how good the kids were and lost.

Ender learns plenty of lessons while at the Battle School. The two biggest life lessons would have to be leadership and mental toughness. Ender learns to be a good leader when he is given the role of commander to Dragon Army. The army was filled with inexperienced soldiers, but Ender turned them into the greatest army to ever grace the Battle School. Ender learns to be mentally tough throughout his whole experience at Battle School. He is expected to be the next great thing and the Commanders do everything they can to break him. They give him two battles a day, everyday of the week. Even though Ender eventually has a mental breakdown,

Ender’s thoughts are conflicted and alter because he does not believe the battle school is right for kids. His friend Dink tells him that “The Battle School didn’t create anything. It just destroys”(109). Ender starts to believe that Dink was right, and the Battle School makes people crazy. He starts to wonder if that will ever happen to him. After he is trained at Eros, and defeats the buggers he tells his friends, “I am crazy” (303). He admits that he is no longer the little boy he used to be, he and his life has completely changed.

The events mainly took place inside Battle School, where it was very plain and had very few decorations. The Battle School was described as “being on the Belt”, which is interpreted as being an orbiting school in space. Also, it was described as a school with “metal walls keeping out the cold of space”, showing how the bland decorations and indoor was used to represent how much control the adults had for every aspect of Ender’s and the other kids’ lives. Far away from his parents, Ender could do nothing but concentrate on training to be commander. By using this specific setting, the administrators could easily control Ender by cutting him off from the rest of the

So far what I have read is Ender Wiggins was being bullyed by this kid named Stillson he then got tired of it so he beat Stillson and kept kicking him even when he was down in order to will all future battles. Colonial Graff then arrives at his house to ask him to come to battle school because he thinks he can be the best. Ender agrees, he then travels to battle school. He meets this kid named Alai who is a very nice kid they become friends. Ender does a whole bunch of training and he does night training with his friend Alai and some other kids. In the book Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card, it starts with ender in school and being made fun of. After he beats up a bully, he goes home to deal with his brother Peter who also bullies him because Ender is a better specimen than Peter was. But what no one expected was that a representative from the military came to invite Ender to Battle School up in space. Ender accepted and went to live up in Battle School for years to come. At first, Ender was hated for being such a talented student at the age of six but was soon respected after he was able to beat all the other armies with just a bunch of little kids. I think that this is the main idea because one of the main reasons Ender won the war was the fact that he was able to see things from the opponent’s perspective while most others could not. He was able to understand an enemy’s every move so that he would know what to do to as a counter attack. For example, while at the Battle School, Ender was able to predict the other army’s next action based on what their formation was. Based off of knowing that formations were easy to predict, he decided to not have any while commanding the Dragon Army. Most of his conversation come from dialog with him and his sister and a couple of classmates when asking the odd question. Ender as mentioned above was a boy who got bullied often at school by other kids and at home by his older brother. Enders older brother makes it very evident that he does not like Ender, so which lead Ender to become down on himself often after coming home and seeing his brother. Ender thought people did not like him because he was a smart boy so he rarely talked. An example of this is when Ender was in the spotlight during battle school simulations and got picked on by people on his platoon on the Salamander army. When Ender first started battle school, he usually sat alone and ate alone, he had nobody back home except his family and he did not have anyone except the Colonels on the ship. Battle school encouraged competition and not sportsmanship so did not help Ender until later in the novel where he then made plenty of

The story has many settings. The first of which takes place sometime in the future somewhere on Earth where there is a constant threat of a bugger invasion and having a third child is considered bad which made life a lot harder for Ender which was one of many reasons why he left to Battle School. The setting then moves to the spaceship which Battle School is on which doesn’t really need to be on a spaceship unless Orson Scott Card wanted the spaceship to help with the feeling of isolation. As the story progresses the setting moves to the planet Eros which is where he will be fighting the Buggers thinking he is just in a simulation but he is really fighting the Buggers.
