On November 16, 1832, a man named Perceval Muddleforp was found dead when Jugglesmead P. Attleboro opened his door. This took place in Manhattan, where the 9th precinct is located at. This case caused several events including interviews, and showing personnel records and diaries. After reviewing all the evidences in this murder case, it is clear to me that Mr. Muddleforp committed suicide. I believe that this happened because he felt hopeless, no evidence of weapons, and zero proof of a suspect. There are a bunch of deep solid explanations for this claim.
To begin with, there were no weapons involved in the murder case. A person committing suicide is something that by definition doesn’t involve a written note, so for some people this might
This statement raises suspicion, not to mention he died from eating that pretzel. How is one not supposed to instantly suspect the person who gave him the pretzel, of murder? An individual might think, "No wonder he choked on that pretzel, all that pocket lint and unsanitary packaging. Not to mention who knows how long he carried that thing around in his pocket!" A reader must think of all possibilities as to why Manchester suddenly died and, considering the information provided by the author, there really is no other explanation except Creepy Pretzel Giving Skidmore is the murderer. Further influencing scrutiny, the author attacks Skidmore, yet still never claiming he is guilty of murder.
Letter from youngest brother (November 26, 1986). My brother Danny wrote his suicide note in my bedroom, and then, after a caesura that I know exists because he had to put down the pen in order to pick up the gun, he shot himself. For some reason, I’ve always been concerned about the length of the lapse, whether he reread what he’d written or stared dumbly at his signature, his name the final piece in a puzzling life he was about to end, before he pressed the gun to his head and pulled the trigger. Most suicides go about the last phase of their business in silence and don’t leave notes. Death itself is the summary statement, and they step into its embrace hours or days before the barrel is finally raised to the roof of the mouth or the fingertips
On Saturday, December 1, 1900, a man named John Hossack was killed in his sleep with a hatchet by his wife, Margaret Hossack. The story told by Margaret was that she had heard what sounded like two boards banging together and by that time the attacker had fled and she didn’t catch a glimpse of him. The next thing she saw was her extremely wounded husband, John, who had a five-inch cut into his head and a fractured skull. A doctor, who came and examined John, and said there was no hope and John died the next morning. As an investigation started, a burglary was thought of as the first motive but the idea flawed because nothing was stolen so the idea was quickly abandoned. In the 4 days between the murder and the funeral, the police talked to
"Suicide, what a terrible concept. There are two types of suicide: physical, and theoretical. Physical suicide is the more commonly heard type of suicide. It entails the person actually, physically killing himself or herself. On the other hand, theoretical suicide is when the person does something that will, in turn, get him or her killed. For example, in “All About Suicide” by Luisa Valenzuela, Ismael, a man that works at a minister’s office, murders the minister, a high-ranking public official. Ismael has been forced to be quiet by the government; therefore he lashes out by killing the minister so that he can reveal the truth about the government. In doing this, Ismael technically “kills himself” because he knows the government
Silas Deane, a second-rank diplomat for the United States during the American Revolution, had a very interesting and mysterious life. He went from rags-to-riches right back down to rags in a matter of years. His only “faithful’ friend was Edward Bancroft, a spy. They worked together for a long time, until in 1789 Deane finally decided to travel back to the states. While the ship was waiting out the storm, Deane reported symptoms of illness and suddenly fell dead only four hours after his symptoms. Although some historians believe that Silas Deane committed suicide, it is without a doubt that Edward Bancroft murdered Deane. Deane could not have not committed suicide, for he was not depressed, Bancroft was nervous that Deane would expose his
I would start by collecting the suicide note and have the lab examine it for any fingerprints or any other DNA. Also I would have a handwriting analyst examine the writing on the note compared to the history of the victim’s day-to-day handwriting. Then I would start to examine the body. I would look at enter and exit wounds from the bullet to see it they are in a line that would make sense of a suicide. I would check the firearm for fingerprints and do a ballistics test on the bullet to make sure it came from that specific gun. Also I would check the body for any kind of physical bruising or wounds that would suggest a struggle.
This means more than half of the suicide in America was done using a firearm. Perhaps the use of firearms use in suicides are high is because it is also reported by GunPolicy that, “The estimated total number of guns held by civilians in the United States is 270,000,000.” Also it is important to take in an account that this number possibly can be much greater because illegal guns and unregistered guns might not be included. With this amount of guns in America, someone with the passion to kill someone or themselves, the most convenient way to commit suicide or kill someone would be to obtain one of the million guns across America. The number of suicides from firearms are so high because the availability to obtain the potentially greater 270,000,000 guns in America. Gun control laws can potential decrease passion crimes and suicides. In Australia, they have passed guns laws that have reduced homicides and suicides. The law that made it possible for the decrease in firearm suicides and homicide for civilians is that
On January 20, 1843 Daniel M’Naghten shot a person, who died, while suffering from morbid delusions. The court established that the he was suffering from disease of the mind and he did not know his action.
In “A Jury of Her Peers” by Susan Glaspell, there is a murder scenario, that is more to it than appears. Mr. Hale went over to the Wrights’ house to see if Mr. Wright still is not interested in a telephone. When he goes to the house and starts talking to Mrs. Wright, he finds out Mr. Wright is upstairs in their bedroom dead. Someone slipped a rope around Mr. Wright's neck and strangled him, and Mrs. Wright was the only one home who appeared to be home when this happened. but the men cannot find a motive for her to kill him. Although Mrs. Wright claims to have been asleep during her husband’s murder, the women conclude she strangled her husband, Mr. Wright, as evidence by the errant quilt patch, the broken bird cage, and the slaughtered canary.
Doctor Samuel Mudd was innocent. Doctor Mudd was not awake when Booth came riding up to his doorstep. He was asleep in his bed and did not know that Booth was coming to his house. The news of the killing had not reach his house. Mudd could not have know about the assassination of the president. Doctor Mudd might have seen Booth before the assassination but there is no evidence that he knew about the assassination. That is why Mudd did not know about the assassination.
According to Naiden, in the case of suicide, the victim does not kill himself or herself but the guilty party was actually the instrument they used to commit the suicide. According to Greek tradition, suicide was viewed as a form of homicide. Additionally Greek families where obliged to avenge and punish the murderer of a fellow family member unless the person forgave his murderer before his death. However, in the case of suicide, there was no one to punish and no one left to do the forgiving. For this reason, the instrument or weapon a person used to commit suicide was convicted of the crime and subsequently punished. However, the victim did not always freely choose suicide and therefore different rules applied. According to Elise
Another motive can be the killer wants to seek vengeance on people or places. In the article “Coercive Suicide,” Katherine Ramsland and Mike Roche talk about mass killers, “Perception is reality.” meaning we must empathize
The poem, “Suicide Note,” by Janice Mirikitani, is about a young Asian-American female college student who decides to end her life by jumping out of her dormitory window. Her last words, thoughts and emotions were written in the note she left behind. This note is recorded in the form of a poem, and permits the reader to see what can cause an individual to commit suicide. To begin, the girl has is a perfectionist, which pushes her to be extremely judgemental of herself. She's also unfortunately set irrational measures for herself, and was unable to get high marks on exams. As the girl waits on the ledge of her building in preparation for death, snow has begun to fall, leaving her hesitant as to what to do. It then arises to her just how upset
Everyday in New York, she has many different and unique cases that she has to deal with. From those who died in a hit and run, those who have fallen out of windows, to drug overdoses, car accidents, suicides, and more. This book always takes a different turn at every corner. Not only does Dr. Melinek determine the cause of death she as well speaks in court to present evidence from her examinations. This helps people be brought to justice for the crimes that could have been committed or to bring closure as to why people died.
The belief is that people who talk about suicided aren’t really going to go through with it; this belief is completely false. Often suicidal people make subtle hints leading up to the event. Some subtle hints include: I know where my dad’s gun is if I ever need it, I have the perfect plan to end it all, I wonder what that chemical taste like or, I wonder what it feels like to bleed out and leave forever. Others often discuss their depression and how there isn’t anything to live for. Another false belief is suicide cannot be prevented. If an individual gets help early enough for the depression and suicidal thought
