The war originated in Europe and soon turned into a global war. There are various reasons for World War One like militarism and nationalism but the alliances are the main cause for the war. Nationalism was a cause of the war because countries had a desire for world power status, some countries had revenge for the others and some countries had much support from their citizens to fight in the war.
